We took our dog to the Northtowns Emergency clinic located in Green Acres on a Friday night due to abdomen swelling. They took an xray and found nothing wrong with her intestines or stomach which was our first concern. The Dr. found some fluid in her belly when tapping it but was unable to locate any more on 3 more attempts. He did not seem overly concerned as she had been acting normally otehrwise and mentioned we could run blood tests if we wanted or we could take her home and monitor her. His explanation was vague and there was never mention that it could be related to a condition that was life threatening. I was worried so I brought her back into the regular office on Monday to run bloodwork which determined it was her liver. They wanted to do more xrays but I declined, wanting to start with the blood test results first. I waited almost 5 hours for results, they told me they were very busy, I was finally told it was her liver. Next step was to do an ultrasound or a biopsy to determine a problem. Still no mention of how serious her condition was. I received another call almost 4 hours later that they did confirm there was fluid. I was given the option for medication, fluid testing or the biopsy and I told them I wanted to pick her up and bring her home and we would decide. When we got there they had the quotes ready, we opted to try medication first as we did not want to be invasive if unnecessary and they would send the fluid for testing. Over the next two days her condition worsened and she stopped eating. On Thursday I called to inquire about the test results as I had not heard yet and share my concerns. The Dr. said they could hospitalize her and see if that helps but there was no guarantee. I made the point to ask about euthanasia because from my own research I was starting to understand how serious her condition was, no thanks to the vet. Up to this point they had never suggested it, it was always run more tests. Thursday I did more research and found out that her symptoms were related to late stage liver failure. She most likely would not survive surgery of any kind, the anesthesia would not have processed correctly through her liver. We had to bring this up to the Dr. after doing our own research, she then admitted that we were probably correct in that even if she made it through the biopsy any further surgery necessary she was unlikely to survive. Unfortunately though we had her scheduled for a Saturday morning she did not make it that long. Friday night she began coughing up blood and we rushed her in to the same Dr. who was so nonchalant the first night. She is a nervous dog to begin with and they knew that. When the Dr. came in he squatted in front of her making her very afraid. He then sent a tech in who stared her down while she tried to get her out of the room. They ended up pulling her out of the room and muzzling her. I felt that this could have been handled with more compassion both for my sweet baby and me. In my opinion they were more concerned with running tests and making money than what was in the dogs best interest at that point.

If I could Give a Lower score I would. $$Money $$ is all Their Northtown Emergency Clinic is interested in. Called tonight because my sisters kitty was ill. They told us the price for office visit $95.00, Blood lab- about $200+, ex-ray $150. Which was reasonable being it was an after hour emergency. As we were walking out the door some Snippy, Nasty Brianna calls and says...I spoke with the Doctor and we are going to keep your cat overnight to observe and give IV if necessary at an additional cost of $800. My sister said no, I am not going to do that. I want the Vet to examine my cat, give diagnoses, meds, etc and she will monitor from home. (unless Surgery is necessary that would be a different story) my sisters exact words. Brianna continued to tell my sister that it was pointless to bring the cat in if not going to keep overnight. My sister in turn says..You have Not even examined my cat, I have no diagnoses or treatment how can you insist he stay overnight at an additional cost of $800. What if I only had $500. Brianna then says "You know, Most People would have already had their pet here" My sister immediately told her. She will Never get her business and hung up. I had a similar experience back in February with my diabetic cat, and once about a year ago, but told my sister maybe the person I delt with was having an off night. That is Not the case. Brianna is a Nasty, ignorant Unprofessional witch and should Not be in the profession where she has to interact with people and appears to only try to milk more money from you before you even walk in the door. I would never bring a pet there. I wish Everyone that has had a vad experience with this Vets office would Give a review so that people can be warned.

Unprofessional and very Expensive. I have regularly brought my dog to this vet since she was a puppy for all well visits and any emergencies/sickness. I have always found this vet extremely expensive, and never left there without spending less than $300 dollars. When my dog recently fell sick, I called to make an appointment and was informed that the vet did not have any available appointments. I explained that I am a loyal, paying customer and that I was leaving town the next day and needed to see the vet. It was possible that my dog had kennel cough and there was no way I could board her anywhere if she was sick. I was informed that the only way they could fit my dog in was if I paid for an emergency visit b/c they were short-staffed... which of course has a minimum cost of over $100 just for the visit. This wasnt even during the alotted time for emergency visit and I felt as though I had to pay extra b/c they were short-staffed. I informed them of how I felt, and told them they were taking advantage of me and I refused the appointment. I also asked them if I cant get my dog in to see my actual vet, who am I suppose to see. They said that if I boarded my dog and she was actually sick w kennel cough, the kennel would definitely call a vet... now please, tell me how is that a responsible vet??? I guess it would increase their business.... Needless to say, once the girl who answered the phone hung up on me (mid-sentence), I decided to change vets. No more games.

My dog Pink had life saving surgery performed by Dr Bernat two times in 1 year. The first surgery was to find a foreigne object in her tummy, and the second surgery was for the same thing + a perforated intestine. A year earlier our dog had part of her ear bit by another dog and Dr Bernart fixed her ear and did a great job - it healed nicely. Our other dog Arnold had a small tumor removed from his side & his teeth cleaned. We feel as though we have a parking spot here (we have spent a lot of money to take care of our dogs). The facility is convient. I can only imagine that operating a 24 hours a day operation is EXPENSIVE. Everything is very clean and organized. Also, the people who are taking care of your dogs are professionals, including board certified animal surgeons. Because its 24 hours if your dog needs to be boarded over night a full staff is working. Not 1-2 people. The estimates we were given were all fair & they always quote on the high end. I would highly recommend this facility. If you are looking to save money take a drive an hour out into the country. If you want to have a vet you can build a relationship with who you can also trust, that will give your best friend the medical care they need in an unforeseen circumstance, you have found your animal hospital at Green Acers. ....Also I just had a check up for my dog, and I left paying $112 for three vaccines & a deworming. I am not sure how a review can state "I never leave here paying less then $300".
