If you Love & care for your family member you would not admit them into River City Nursing home. Horrible!! I HIGHLY recommend USA nursing home instead! Here are just a quick summary of my nightmare experience with River City: Disgusting facility (odor hits you as soon as you walk in), under staffed (employee told me they had 4 nurses to 100 patients & lucky to have a rag to bath patients), Not only denied Hospice due to Medicaid application pending, but prevented Medicaid application to proceed because Facility wouldnt hand in necessary documentation to complete application, always took 30 min + to answer call button, didnt administrate medicine on time/ morphine on the HR every HR determined by orders, good luck ever seeing a Dr or getting answers on health updates, took 4 days of persistence for them to evaluate my grandmothers mouth, they assumed it was dehydration but turns out it was a yeast infection, grandmother suffered 5 hrs in pain before a doctor finally showed up to prescribe her morphine because codine + Tynol wasnt enough to mask the pain, rude social worker (Veronica) who complained she couldnt complete paper work for transfer because she was leaving in an hour & told me I could wait to move my grandmother Monday, falsified statements toward SouhernCare employees, lied about accidents resulting in injuries on my grandmother, management could careless about your problems or seek to make positive changes! Only regret I have is not transferring my grandmother sooner to USA nursing home! Night & day difference in professional management & day to day care. I feel sorry for all patients currently residing at River City & my prayers go out to them & their families.

DO NOT PUT ANYONE YOU LOVE HERE!! This place is absolutely awful. My mom got put in here via Huntsville hospital after having emergency brain surgery back in march. Ive had problems with the workers here since day 1! They told me that in order for her to get medicaid was for her to make $50 a month. Which means, I have to put $50 into her account every month. This is fine but they told me that it would be here money and it would go into an account where nobody could touch it. Wheres the money at now? Nobody knows. They change the rules every time I talk to them. My aunt (my moms sister) passed away last week and they told me that I could take her for 72 hours. So we took her. The funeral ended up not being until this week, so when we went to go get her, they told us we could only keep her for 4 hours. We live an hour away from the nursing home!! Not to mention my Mom was complaining about not getting to shower. When we brought this up to them, they started saying that they would make sure she showered, etc. Well see. Also, the place smells awful. Theres always residents in the hallway or front lobby screaming for help and reaching out at you when you walk by. Yes, screaming for help! Where are the workers? Ill tell you, theyre all standing in groups, cutting up and laughing with each other instead of taking care of these individuals. Im so sick of dealing with these people. Theyre rude and dont care about anything but taking your money.

River City is full of wonderful, hardworking employees who care for their customers. They are under new leadership who is working extremely hard to turn things around. I know the facility has had a bad reputation in the past but I can tell you this facility provides excellent care and the bad reputation is a false perception. I would highly recommend this facility for your loved ones. The therapy department is known to be the best in North Alabama. The admissions process is a breeze and the admissions staff are great. If you have any questions or issues with finances, the business office manager will go above and beyond to assist your needs. The Medicaid application process is very simple with the help of the business office. The physicians are wonderful and there is a full-time Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Prickett and Dr. Chandler are the most professional and caring physicians in the community. I cant say enough good things about this facility. There is no other facility within the Tennessee Valley that has the resources River City provides.

Had a great experience, we chose to bring my mother her for palliative care in her final weeks with us. The Nurses and Cnas always worked hard to keep all of the patients happy and did a excellent job.If there was ever any question or concern I had with my mother they would answer it in a very timely fashion. The staff truely cared for everyone patients and family members, starting from the administrator all the way down to house keeping. If i had it to do over i would choose River City Center again. They give love and compassion from every angle. THANK YOU SO MUCH RIVER CITY CENTER KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK!!!!!

This place is the most carelessness, lack of accountability, and unethical practices I have ever seen in my life! The way people are treated there is alarming. Any one who truly care for their love ones should never step a foot into this place not even for rehabilitation! I honestly can not believe what I have seen and heard other people say about this place, and the fact it is still open. I WOULD NOT SEND MY DEAD DOG TO THIS RIVERCITY! Please be careful with trusting other comments saying this is a nice place.

I stayed at River City for 6 days. I had a nice clean private room. I had a large box of pastries from Panera when I entered my room. I had an excellent doctor and all the nurses were very attentive and knowledgeable. The CNAs took very good care of me, checking on me regularly to see if I needed anything. My room was very clean. The rehab department was great. I would go to River City again if I needed too.

They start off very professional until you become a resident. After that, you will discover that the nurses are extremely lazy. The facility stinks really bad. You can smell the patients as soon as you enter the doors. Grade: (F-)

I worked her from May 2016 until September 2016 and lets just say it made me uncertain if I wanted to continue as a nursing assistant with the treatment of the residents .
