I have just moved from Los Angeles to the West Valley area. In LA I ran a small feral cat rescue organization and our biggest expense was for adequate vet care. Six months ago I had a cat named Charlie with stomatitis, a severe inflammation of the mouth. The primary treatment is to have all the teeth removed, which we did, and it cost $2,000. Then a tumor was discovered in the gum, and we spent another $850 for a biopsy. Charlie died four months later after another $400 in medication and treatment. The tumor was inoperable. Immediately after I arrived in Peoria, I did a search for local vets and say the Grand Paws website and the bio of Dr. Sink whose desire is more to help animals than serve Wall Streets emphasis on profits. VCA has ruined Vet care by buying up over 600 veterinary practices and hospitals, and then turning them into profit centers for the corporation. They did this by lowering the amount of care provided and doubling or tripling services fees. They fired staff to cut costs. So they see fewer clients and charge those they see much higher costs. BUT GRAND PAWS AND DR. SINK SAW THIS AND DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. This clinic is spotlessly clean and the staff is priceless--friendly, informative, happy. Dr. Sink was very warm and did not prescribe blood tests which I thought our cat Bodhi might need because he had been diagnosed with kidney failure two years before. he said Bodhi (at 18 years old) looked good, and palpation was normal, and temp was 100.1. He said the blood tests would be academic as we knew he had kidney failure, but if he got worse, then further testing could be done. He just suggested with give SQ fluids daily instead of 3 X a week because Bodhi was slightly dehydrated. As this was Bodhis first office visit, there was no charge! Bodhi was the second cat I brought to this clinic. The first, Ram, was seen by Dr. Riess, and had been diagnosed as a mass detected by palpation by three LA vets who recommended exploratory surgery to remove and biopsy it. Dr. Riess reading the X-rays could not find the mass, but did find one kidney slightly out of place which may have been the "mass" the other three vets thought was a tumor or lymph node, because they found only one kidney! Dr. Riess diagnosed Irritable Bowel Disorder and gave a steroid injection. Total cost for this first visit: $24.50. This entire practice is aimed at providing quality care at affordable prices without jacking up the bill by suggesting unneeded tests. When I left, I thanked Dr. Sink for bringing affordable and quality care to the West Valley, and told him he was a hero for putting animals ahead of profit.

My dog had bloodwork done from another clinic and her liver count was off the charts. I was not told of this until it was too late. Their charges for testing were extremely high and was given a recommendation to call Grand Paws. I saw Dr. St. CLAIRE and he and the staff were so nice to me and so gentle and loving to Coco. After the tests, it was confirmed she was in full-blown Cushings Disease. Rather than have me purchase her meds. ( which she has to take for the rest of her life) from their office, Dr. St. Claire told me about the Pet Pharmacy in Youngtown. The other clinic would not have made that recommendation. Their meds would be close to $300 per month. I was not prescribed the heavy drug but rather another one. She has to take one a day. It costs me $38.00 including shipping. The doctors at Grand Paws are wanting to help our pets, not rob our pocketbooks. I wouldnt change Veterinarians if you paid me I love them. They will actually squeeze me in when I need to see Dr. St. Claire. The staff usually comes to sit a second before we go in to see the doctor and makes you and your pet feel at ease. I love you all for the kindness youve shown us. Thank you.

As always, I took Schatzi to Dr Sink for her medical needs. I once flew down from British Columbia to see Dr. Sink because Schatzi had a back/leg issue. Googling informed me I had possibly 24 hours before the problem might cause pralyses. I called Dr. Sink, appraised him of the issue. He did his due research and called me back in five minutes as he had promised. Schatzi and I were on the next flight out of Vancouver International airport. Schatzi recovered completely. Another occasion, Schatzi chased a ball into a Fire plant. I though nothing of it until a day or so later it was so obvious that she had a MAJOR eye issue. Dr Sink saw Schatzi and together we figured out what had caused the problem. Sap from the plant which is very toxic. We saw Dr. Sink every other day, then weekly. He did not charge me for these follow up visits. Again, Dr. sink came through with flying colors! Schatzis eye is fine. Need I say more? I can not recommend Grand Paws Animal Clinic more highly. Everyone working with Dr. Sink is exemplary . . . he would have it no other way! Dr. Sink, "Loves his dogs" . . . a direct quote from him. 5 STARS! Donna R

New customer special was a great way to introduce services and establish care. The staff and doctor were polite. The thermometer they put in my dogs rectum was meagerly cleaned with a cotton ball and a small amount of rubbing alcohol. I inquired about this and the doctor said that disease could not be transferred dog to dog through the anus. Researching the matter I found that rubbing alcohol does not kill bacterial spores or viruses such as Parvo. Grossed me out a bit. When the doctor was finished, he left the room and did not give clear instruction as to what I was to do, As a result, I stood waiting by the check out desk for about 10 minutes with no offer to help or suggestion on what to do next. While waiting, the next pet was brought into the room my pet had been seen in without cleaning it first. This was concerning to me since a dog being seen at the same time as mine had kennel cough. It made me wonder if the room had been cleaned before my dog was seen. I think I would go back but would hold my dog until I saw things cleaned properly. I wish I would have done this the first time around.

We moved to Arizona and had it on our to-do list to find a veterinarian for our Cavachon who was soon to be due for shots. We made a few inquiries with neighbors and peers, and Dr. Sink was the veterinarian that received the most glowing praise. I kept the piece of paper, intending to make an appointment, but never did. When our dog became suddenly and seriously ill, I called Grand Paws and they got us in right away. They worked closely with us over a 5-day period until he was back on his feet. I then scheduled his shots and he is all good to go. I was very impressed by the cleanliness and efficiency of all the staff and their systems. It really is like stepping back into the past and reminded me of how veterinaries and doctors offices used to feel: caring, attentive, focused on the problem at hand. The price for everything was much less than I was used to paying in NoCal and that was an added bonus! I highly recommend Grand Paws for your pets care!
