A few months back I purchased a Doberman puppy at birth. I then started calling around local vets looking for one that would crop ears. I found this Hospital and Dr. Deo They seamed very nice and my first choice in vets for this procedure. When my puppy was 5 weeks old I was told by the Breeder that they wanted the ears done at a hospital in Riverside and would be having us sign a contract that this very elite Dr do the crop. I had no problem with that. This Riverside vet was highly recommended as best in the field in the west. I then called Dr Deos office an explained to them, the situation. While I didnt mind the 3 hr drive to get this done I wouldnt be able to do this weekly or more for the after care. I was told no problem he would be glad to do this at 16$ per taping. This was reasonable and I was ready to move on. At 8 weeks we brought our puppy home. I took him to Dr Deo for his well puppy check and to meet the guy we would be spending alot of time with. As the after care could take up to year, but an average of at least a couple months. When we got there He said my puppy had a heart murmor. I was way freaked out and started crying. remember I bought this puppy at birth. While I had only had him home a couple days I had been getting weekly pics and updates on him for 2 months. I already loved him! then he asked about the ears. He said he would be able to do his ears next week. When I explained the situation. He told me oh no way I wont do after care on a crop I didnt preform. WTH???? I was told weeks ago you would. He then said oh Ok I guess I will but I will charge you $45 a taping. WTF!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me? this is at the least a weekly thing! Thats a ton of money, almost $30 dollars more! You cant say thats not all about the money there! He wasnt getting his 450 dollars for the crop so he was upping the cost of the tapings! He then said cause he would have to tranqualize my dog. WTH??? Why?? There is no need to do this and it wouldnt be good for the puppy to be drugged weekly! I would never agree to that! I told him nevermind. I brought the puppy back in the next day to have him do a longer watch of the heart to tell us how bad this heart murmor was, and he didnt have a heart murmor anymore. Weird huh?? If he had a heart issue he could charge me more during surgery to make sure he was ok. He then spent almost an hour telling me to buy products from his vet clinic. also telling me to give my 8 week old puppy that weighed 15 pounds comfortis a flea med you swallow. A 20 pound dose would be my best choice since by the end of the month he would be 20 pounds. I looked this up before buying. It is for dogs over 3 months. and strictly recomends following the weight guidelines as this is a very strong med. I then spent $80 taking him to 2 other vets. both telling me there was no evidence of any heart murmor in fact sounded very healthy! This Dr is all about money! How ever he can get it. I called the Doberman club of S.D. and found a great lady to do his after care. No drugs at all. Even showing me what to do so I can continue to come to her or do the rest myself. in the 3 weeks since his crop we have gone to her 4 times. That would of been almost $200 I would of given Dr Deo. I have not come close to that number and hope when all is said and done I wont either! If you love your pet dont go here! He cares way more about money then caring for you pet!

I want to write a review for Dr Deo and all his staff from Amanda, Murphy, Mariel and the rest of the team. My dog Scout,(champion line German Sheperd) was a mess from the hands of Banfield Pet Hospital. I brought him to Banfield for his ears, his left ear was bad, when I had my first office visit I was charged $200.00 with antibiotics and sent home. a week later the side of Scouts face blew up under his left ear. When I took him to Banfield they confirmed an abcess on his cheek and then charged me $988.00 to put drains in his abcess and cefelexin antibiotics. Never diagnosing the problem. Less than a week later the Dr at Banfield said everything was fine pulled the drains and sent me on my way. The abcess receded about half the size. Never fully healed. 2 weeks later with Scouty Boy not doing so well I took him to Dr Deo when I was refered to him by a friend. My visit was $20.00 and he told me that my dog has a FOREIGN OBECT in his cheek and that any ethical doctor is responsible to complete the follow up care till the animal was healthy. I agreed and went to Banfield Pet Hospital. they told me my Dog was having an antibiotic resistance to a bacteria and they needed to do an ear culture that was $221.00. the first estimate was a ttl of $315.00 so minus 221.00 it would be $95.00 for surgery, but no they bait and switched me to $349.00 for the surgery plus antibiotics. When I argued that they are responsible for my dog they refused to treat unless pymnt rcvd. I paid and when I picked up my dog all they did was put drains in his cheek and told me that he may have a CANCER TUMOR. I said enough is enough. I went back to SOUTH BAY VET HOSPITAL and DR DEO performed surgery for $400.00 ...one third of the cost for Banfield surgery and guess what ???... A FRIGGIN FOREIGN OBJECT WAS FOUND exactly where he said it was. I will always take my pets to DR DEO and his staff. they were genuinely concerned about the health of my pet and were courteous, professional and fun. Great atmosphere for the pet and owners , heck they even threw a 4th of July BBQ on the premises for staff and customers. But in the end my dogs nightmare was over and returning to being 100% healthy. It was all about the pet and his recovery to health. They wouldve saved me $1000.00 if I just went to DR DEO first. Thank you for your great service and concern for my pet.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank DR. Deo and his staff, Dr Meade, Vanessa, and all his staff. We took our Golden Retriever Chance to see Dr. Meade. I selected Dr. Meade because Chance feels more comfortable with a woman Veterinarian. Dr.Meade was very nice and had a wonder sense of humor. Dr. Meade gave Chance a complete exam. I explained that Chance was loosing weight and not eating, but had plenty of energy, and was very alert. Dr Meade suggested that they take X Rays and do an Ultra Sound. I knew that was the only way we were going to get to the bottom of this, because the blood test, Urine and Antibiotics were not working. He was vomiting because no food in his stomach. Oh by the way I forgot to the blood work and Urine was done with another Vet. My wife went to pick him up at 5 PM and we received the most horrible devastating news. Chance Had Terminal Cancer very advanced in his spleen and which had also spread to his liver. This by the way was discovered in the Ultra Sound he also had very advanced Arthritis. 2 days later the decision was made to put him to sleep. Now I agree with Allen about Banfield Pet Hospital. I called them about putting him to sleep about the price. They said the office manager came on the phone and said "the price is $ 100.00 do you want to be in the room with him"? I replied yes we want to be there I heard the adding machine going Cha Ching " That will be another 27.00" You want to talk about cold blooded sharks? They know how to hit you when your at your weakest point. I read some very mean reviews about DR. Deo and I want to say I disagree with them 110%. On Thursday 04/28/11 Unfortunately we had to meet Dr. Deo. We found him to be very caring and waited until we instructed Vamessa tp ask him to come into the room. Dr Deo whispered to Chance " Go to sleep Chance at the same time I was saying that i was talking to him. Dr. Deo then told us " Take all the time you need" he stayed in the room with us for about 5 Min comforting us. If Dr. Deo was those things that some of these people are saying Well I never saw it. Our personal thanks to Vanessa who took care of the paper work as we were allowed to exit out the back door, because I was a wreck. In closing if I ever select another dog I will contact Dr.Deo and his staff. signed John
