Copied from my complaint to the Better Business Bureau: We were happy customers of the "Optimal Wellness Plan" contract plan for some 5 years in Minnesota (Richfield office). When we moved to California, and had to go to the vet, the first trip I asked to have our membership transferred to the Daily City CA office. That Daily City office was an absolute train wreck... I waited for 3 hours prior to being seen, I found fleas everywhere (fortunately they didnt follow us home) and the staff, while very nice, was not terribly competent. We had our pets records faxed from one Banfield location to the other (despite being computerized?) three times, and were lost three times - before my wife had them faxed to our home, and we hand-delivered them. We found another vet, but when I went to cancel our wellness plan, I found out they did NOT transfer our existing plan, but had enrolled us in a new plan. This meant we would have had to pay several hundred dollars in "Early cancellation" fees. We feel that our long history of company loyalty was betrayed, and that Banfields internal infrastructure is so woefully primitive and fractured that it simply cannot operate as one cohesive whole. Further, we had to jump thru so many hoops to rectify what at best was an honest mistake, at worst a devious attempt to capture business, that we finally gave up and simply paid the remainder of the contract.

Youd think a pet hospital near your home would make things easier for your pet and you, right? Wrong. I had a horrible experience at the Banfield Pet Hospital when my dog injured her leg. I was frantic at the time, not knowing what to do. Since I remembered there was a pet hospital near me, I went here. However, the treatment that my dog and I received here was horrible. The vet offered to amputate my dogs leg and was going to charge me $700. I knew there was another option, so I decided to reject that option. And since I opted out, the receptionist and vet were rude to me.

WOW! Called because I was at a different petsmart but I needed my prescription number since I didnt have my prescription card with me to buy my dogs food. It was 15 minutes before the hospital would close but somebody picked up the phone, took my information and put me on hold. After a couple of minutes on hold the call was drop so I called back and noticed that they had put the phone on night mode and my call wouldnt go through. I still had time to call a Banfield hospital in San Mateo where they closed at the same time after this horrible experience. Horrible service

They didnt seem concerned for my cat when he had crystals in his bladder. Instead of treating him they told me to go to a vet hospital if it got worse. They offered no treatment and slapped me with a $1400 bill. Would recommend to stay away from this place.
