I have Aetna DMO insurance through my employer which happens to be a health plan. I have many years of experience related to insurance plans. This means I understand how this provider gets paid -- through capitation, meaning they receive a flat amount regardless if they provide services to me or not or anyone else in the DMO plan. So, they have an incentive to up sell you services -- they dont make much money on the contractually obligated services laid out in your benefits. This would explain why Marlene, their claims and insurance specialist asked sarcastically if "I wanted these services for free" when I argued that filings, Dr. Stuart said I needed, was covered under my insurance. I had several encounters with my insurance company where they said "If your primary care dentist does not offer the amalgam tooth filling they must charge you the same copay for the resin/composite filling". The copay on my plan says there is "no charge". Marlene said several time "we do not offer amalgam services". After a couple of months of conflicting responses from my insurance, saying that I am covered, and my provider, saying I am not covered, I escalated the issue with Aetna. Aetna reiterated and spoke with the provider several times stating I am covered because they do not offer the amalgam service. I then made one last attempt to make an appointment to have my composite fillings completed. Only this time Marlene said she never stated that they dont offer amalgam services -- all of a sudden, they do. That said, I cannot trust this provider. They are inconsistent and make false claims, stating they do not offer amalgam services but only when it is convenient for them. I work in the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse industry. In my world, if a provider makes false claims to impose a liability on someone, that is illegal. I am giving this provider one star because they do not have a full understanding of their contractual obligations and they are inconsistent with their statement of services. Or, they are just flat out liars. This begs the question: " Should I trust a providers office that attempt to make false claims?" You can either find out yourself or avoid this office all together -- I highly recommend you do the latter.

Heard about this office from an activity fair at my childrens school. My 10 year old son had an appointment for a cleaning. We sat in the tiny waiting room (the size of a hallway) for thirty minutes before my son was asked back. They wanted him to be back there alone with the half-door to the office locked. I was VERY uncomfortable with this, and they begrudgingly allowed me to accompany him, however there was not room for my other children, so I was running back and forth. I expected an office that solicits business from an elementary school would be kid-friendly... Not at ALL! My son was in the exam room for 45 minutes when they consulted with me. He had not even had the cleaning yet! They told me they couldnt do the cleaning because a hygienist was not available. Why would they make a cleaning appointment when they didnt have staff to do a cleaning? The dentist came in the exam room and like other members of the office, he did not introduce himself, ask our names, extend a handshake, or even a smile. Instead he began criticizing my son for the poor Xrays he had. I told the dentist we had been to our previous dentist just before we moved and there were no prior problems. He said there way no way we had been to a dentist in the past year. I was absolutely aghast at his accusation, and lack of common courtesy. It was an all around terrible experience.

Wow, I would like to know if Im writing a review about the same office as the other writers were writing about here? First off, I have had bad Dentists, and Great Dentists, these Dentists at Harbour were Great. And I dont take any of this lightly. A. I hate all Dentist. B. I hate all Dentist C. I hate all Dentist But, I must say, I had an over all fantastic appointment with Dr. Stewart, the kindest, and most professional of Dentist. He didnt make me feel bad that Im so afraid of Dentist, well, I have put off getting my teeth fixed for way to many years. He was wonderful. I felt like he didnt judge me what so ever. Love him. Then, there is Dr. Coleman, who is about the best Dentist I have ever had. I was with him and his assistant, who is the best also, she is wonderful, and I wasnt in any hurry to leave them. What a drastic change for me. He had a long hard time on my teeth, and I never felt any pain. I LOVE him. And hes not bad on the eyes either, hes adorable!!!! I have referred a few people I know who are also skeptical about getting their teeth fixed, and will continue to do so, this is a fantastic group of Dentist, and their assistants are really wonderful also. I give them a score of 11 out of 10 Donna Baker Robinson

Harbour Landing Dental is the best dental practice Ive ever been to. Dr. Stewart is amazing; hes professional and very caring. I received follow-up calls from him after each dental procedure...he personally called to make sure I was doing OK. The dental hygenist is very thorough and explains everything shes doing in detail. She does great work, and she really cares. She remembered me perfectly after 4 months! The dental technicians are so personable and awesome. They completely put me at ease and are so friendly and kind. They do amazing work, and they are one of the main reasons I will keep coming back. They make you feel like family. The front desk/financial staff is kind and welcoming, and they explain everything up front so there are no monetary surprises. I would recommend this practice to all of my friends and family.

I was not a patient. My tooth pain was so horrible and I could not get into my dentist for a month. I called my insurance company and got approval to change dentists if I could get an appointment. I called Harbour Landing Dental and they gave me a same day appointment. The staff were so amazing. Everyone did everything they could to not hurt me. Dr Stewart came into the room and immediately gave me a shot to stop my agony, then we discussed the treatment required. His kind thought to my pain was so great to me. Once the pain was handled, I could make the choice of treatment, and am so grateful for it. I am now a patient and highly recommend this office! All the staff are very professional and caring.
