I had a bad experience here. I think maybe they are TOO MONEY ORIENTED! Before I tell you about it, I want to say that the staff under this dentist are kind. The tech who did the x-rays was very kind and gentle, she was easy to be around and the ladies at the desk, even though we disagreed in the end, they were kind also... Now to the unfortunate business: I have been having some trouble finding a dentist, for the last 3 years, that Im comfortable around. When I first got there I was greeted with kindness and even though I was hot and cranky they were understanding. The dentist seemed very nice and soft-spoken, which I like, but when the exam was over I was informed that I would have to schedule a cleaning appointment! HUH? First of all Ive never heard of this before. Ive been going to the dentist my whole life and Im 49, for some reason this place doesnt clean at the time of the appointment, they make you wait for the cleaning by making a separate appointment after the exam. I was really annoyed by this BUT I let it go and proceeded to make my appointment, and that was when I was informed that the cleaning recommended to me was a "Deep Cleaning" involving "the numbing of my mouth" laser and water treatment to achieve the cleaning, and it was OVER $400 DOLLARS!! They also told me that it wasnt covered by The affordable Health Care Act Coverage, (Which is all I have), So I asked for the regular cleaning, WHICH IS ACTUALLY COVERED! She said that if the dentist recommends a "Deep Cleaning" then he can not do a regular cleaning. I asked if he would re-diagnose me so that Im able to get a cleaning and she said that was against policy and they dont do that, Then I asked if I was to understand that I wouldnt be given a cleaning unless I pay out of pocket for the Expensive one, and that Im being forced to find another dentist? She said They would do a cleaning but it would have to be a "Deep Cleaning" Only ...and that it was my choice, to find another dentist if I wanted to. I let her know that it wasnt my choice, because I wanted to stay and get a cleaning, she shrugged. So I politely told her that I was disabled and currently fighting with California for disability status and am unable to work presently and have no money to pay for an unnecessary treatment and that the last dentist I had, told me that the last time I was given a "Deep Cleaning" it made my gums worse and that I am not a good candidate for "Deep Cleaning" she told me there was nothing they could do for me other then the "Deep Cleaning" So I begged one more time "IN TEARS" for a cleaning that is covered by my insurance and they said no. I contacted "Health Net", my insurance Co., and told them and they allowed me to file a complaint and advised me to file one with the Dentistry Board for California. I will be doing that after this yelp review. I want to help save others who might be considering going to this place. This IS NOT normal up-selling, this is extortion. I am unable to pay for a procedure that I need, so I have insurance, but they will only give me the expensive one that isnt covered. If you have had this experience I encourage you to file a complaint so we can work together to get this changed. This is EXTORTION: Taken from the dictionary: "oppressive or illegal exaction, as of excessive price or interest" After I told my partner of my experience, I was advised that this is not only extortion but the Dentistry Board has been hearing a lot of complaints about forcing people to take the more expensive procedures and "Deep Cleaning" is at the top of the list. (For real, Look it up or ask the dentistry board, its no joke). I called them and gave them one more chance to give me a cleaning, letting them know I would have to file a complaint, and they said to go ahead because they cant do anything for me.

A rip off dental office. All they care about is money. Since I have visited them, the only thing they have done to me is the exam. And everything else is "not covered by insurance" as they claim, and their prices very high. I have been with them for a month, and nothing has been done to my excruciating pain, and they treat me as a second citizen because I dont have the money they are asking me to pay. And that I rely on my insurance for payments. Working on changing my clinic, and never coming back.

Simply Smiles have a dangerous bedside mannor, they are harshly abusive and make dental decisions at the last minute which can cause Anxiety in client. Very passive, very aggressive, some cultural an racial issue of concern. Beware anyone.

This practice is full of caring and friendly staff. Dr. Keshav is a wonderful dentist who treated me and my child with respect and kindness and he was especially gentle with my toddler. I would recommend this practice to anyone.
