Absolutely the worst eye care experience Ive ever had. First, they messed up my exam appointment as needing glasses when I specifically stated I wanted contacts when I scheduled my appointment. I only found this error out after I was rushed through the eye exam and was being put in a high pressure sales situation to immediately buy glasses from them. When I told them I was there for contacts, they left me sitting and waiting for 20 minutes while they tried to figure out if I could still get my contacts lenses fitting done right then. They apologized profusely and said the doctor was already in with another patient and asked if I could reschedule. I agreed, and set my appointment for the following Monday. I show up for that appointment only to find out they messed up that rescheduling too, and put me down for an appointment the following month. To add insult to injury, they told me the day had already been booked solid so I would have to reschedule AGAIN. I let them know this was unacceptable since they screwed up my first appointment and I was here again because of that screwup. Thankfully, the doctor was able to squeeze time in for me. Once again, I was rushed through the contacts lenses fitting. I sat there for maybe 15 minutes with the doctor and then was handed off to a high pressure sales person trying to get me to buy contacts right then. I told him I was not ready to purchase and just wanted to test out a trial pair to see how I liked them first before making a decision as I had not worn contacts in over a decade and wanted to see how I liked them. He still insisted he quote me for lenses, and in the process told me the fitting fee was $250 which was NEVER told to me until that point. In fact, I was told it was $39. So you can imagine my surprise when it was 6 times that amount. I told him how badly everything had been handled thus far by this office and I was not going to pay $250 for a fitting, especially when I was told $39. He left me waiting for 10 minutes and came back to say the doctor apologized but thats what the fee is. I promptly took out the contacts they had me wear and told them that not only did they lose any future business from me, but that I would also be sharing my experience online. This entire process felt like one big con to get me to spend a ton of money. If you like high pressure sales, misleading fees, and incompetent scheduling staff then this is your place. I came here for an eye exam and to explore wearing contacts, not be put through the ringer with sales tactics that rival a used car dealership. I will NEVER do business here again and I suggest you avoid it too.

I had visited Silicon Valley Eye Care for Contact Lens Exam. I was not made aware of the Contact Lens Exam Fees Upfront. A Comprehensive Eye Exam was performed and charged towards my insurance without giving me an estimate of the cost of Contact Lens Exam even though on the form I had specifically mentioned that I was interested in Contact Lens exam and requested a price quote for it in advance. After the Comprehensive Eye Exam was performed, I was told about the Contact Lens Exam charges ($280) which would be applied in case I wanted to perform the Contact Lens Exam. These charges were much higher than the charges at other facilities in the area ($60-$80). However, I was told that as the Comprehensive Eye Exam is required to be performed at a facility before the facility can perform a contact lens exam, now if I decided to change the facility I would have to perform the Comprehensive Eye Exam again at the new facility. Thus I was left with two choices if I wish to get contact lenses this year - 1. Pay the exorbitant fees for Contact Lens Exam at Silicon Valley EyeCare OR 2. Perform Contact Lens Exam at another facility that performs it at reasonable charge, in which case, Id have to perform the Comprehensive Eye Exam again (which now wont be covered by Insurance as Ive been already charged for it by Silicon Valley Eye Care) and thus end up paying extra cost for the Comprehensive Eye Exam! I feel cheated because I wasnt made aware of the high Contact Lens Exam fees before performing the Comprehensive Eye Exam and thus ensuring that I was compelled to pay the high Contact Lens Exam fees to Silicon Valley EyeCare or pay for an entire Comprehensive Eye Care exam out-of-pocket if I chose another facility. As I do not have sufficient money to perform either, I might not be able to get Contact Lenses this year. Also, an OptoMap Retinal Screening exam was perfomed. I was made aware of the cost of the exam ($39) upfront. However, after the exam, I was told that if I wanted a copy of the test results, I would have to shell out an additional $30 fee. I was not made aware of this $30 fee to obtain a copy of test results in advance even though providing test results to a patient on whom an exam has been performed should be part of the process. This review is to make other prospective visitors to this facility aware of my experience at this facility.

I was treated by this office for over a year in total. When I first came, I asked if I can be qualified for an eye surgery, but was assured that my only option is to wear glasses. During that year, I had my eye prescription adjusted several times, until it got to the point that week after adjustment, I had to come over again and make some more changes. Needless to say that every time visit the office, I have a co-payment. Every time I asked about surgery, I got a pretty definite no in response. I decided to have a second opinion about my eyes and went to another eye center (to avoid being accused of spumy or being biased in my comments, I will not mention names). I was immediately diagnosed with severe case of cataract in my eye. I was quickly scheduled for a surgery, and a week later I put away all my glasses. Week later I received a final bill from Silicon Valley EyeCenter. I called the office and said that I dont feel obligated to pay the remaining $60, because I feel I should get my money back from all the past visits and file for malpractice claim. They replied that unless I pay the balance, theyre going to report this to a credit bureau. Of course I didnt want to file for malpractice, but they sold this to a collection agency. I paid them off, but ..., seriously? Very low, very cheap.

Just got back from the shop to pick up my prescription lenses for Google Glass. Theyre one of the few eye care providers in the Bay Area thats on the preferred Google list. In short, they know what theyre doing. The also have their own lab to cut the lenses, so turnaround time is very quick. I brought my Glass on Thursday to be fitted in, I got it back the next Tuesday. Steven is very knowledgeable and patiently explain me what the best lens I should get. The only minor complaint I had was that when I got the lens back, there are some dusts at the edge of the lens. Had I not noticed that, I would not be able to clean it myself since the lenses need to be taken off before cleaned. I quickly pointed the dusts and he quickly clean it. No problem. Their prices arent the greatest, but for this kind of service, I think its quite worth it.
