My wife has been receiving home health services for several years. She has been diagnosed with scleroderma; systemic sclerosis. She requires IV hydration, TPN (for nutrition) and regular IV Antibiotics to treat chronic kidney infections. She has had a power port surgically implanted to facilitate the ongoing IV regimens. Over the past 10 years she has lost 40 lbs and is only 90 lbs at 5’6” tall. She has had care from Interim for about a year and a half. December 1, our insurance plan changed; coverage included Home Health; the insurance plan was different, but the requirements for home health remained the same. There should have been a seamless transition, according to our insurance member services. Last Thursday, December 3rd, my wife had just completed a week of antibiotics for a kidney infection and woke up with a fever of 103 and chills. Her urine culture had shown a bacteria that was highly resistant to all antibiotics except one. She had consulted with her Infectious Disease Physician, who instructed her to go immediately to the Emergency room, fearing Sepsis. My wifes home health nurse called while we were preparing to go to the Emergency room. My wife told the nurse that her infectious disease physician suspected sepsis and told her to go to the Emergency Room. The nurse had no apparent concern for my wifes well-being, rather insisted that she call Interim about her insurance changes. I took my wife to the emergency room at which time the staff took her straight back for care, triaging her as urgent. They called a Sepsis Alert and staff were quickly taking action to save her life. Meanwhile, the nurse continued to call my wife’s cell phone and harass her about the home visit earlier in the week that would not be paid by insurance, knowing full well that she was in the Emergency room. My wife’s final diagnosis was Invasive candidiasis. Her port had to be removed surgically and she was prescribed IV anti-fungal for 14 days. She was discharged from the hospital after 6 days. A PICC line was inserted in order for her to continue IV treatment at home. The interim nurse kept contacting my wife telling her she wasn’t home bound and that they weren’t going to get paid. She came to our house with another nurse the day after discharge from the hospital and discharged my wife from Interim. She didn’t even look at the PICC line site. She told her that she could get PICC dressing changes from her primary care physician. She told my wife she wasn’t home bound. She said since she could get out of the house if there were a fire, so she didn’t qualify for home care. My wife tried to show her nurse our Insurance Company’s clinical UM management guidelines for home care. The nurse would not consider the insurance policy. She kept telling her that since she could walk up stairs or get out of bed, that she didn’t qualify for home care; not true. Something as simple as IV hydration needs qualify a patient for home care, according to our insurance policy. My wife was treated with disrespect, and in her time of most need, was dumped to the curb. We are now left trying to identify another home health agency to assist with the remainder of the IV anti-fungal regimen, PICC dressing changes and assessments. We are left to fend for ourselves in hopes that this infection is resolved with out any skilled nursing care.

If I could give Interim HealthCare less than one star, I would. The unprofessionalism and rudeness that my Moms nurse, Andrea had for my mom was appalling. My mom has been sick for over 13 years now, and her condition has only been getting worse. She had home health care through Interim HealthCare and had an experience that lead me to believe that this company has no interest in the well-being of their patients. Andrea was inappropriate, rude, and blatantly heartless towards my Mom. To make a long story short, it would be better to take the Care out of their name because they clearly do not.

Their staff members are somewhat under-educated and impatient, although 3 in 10 is extremely good. When understaffed the administrators blame clients for having unreasonable need. """Housekeeping" only includes things like mopping kitchen floor 3 times a day. They are professionally "polite" and humanly rude and disorganized, with money as their only goal. Curses on the legal system of Colorado for holding their seniors hostage to this rediculous group of rules!!!!!!!

This company is absolutely awful. If I could give zero stars I would. They do not accommodate to clients needs and will send caregivers after multiple requests of them not returning. They send inexperienced caregivers to my aunt whos 90% disabled who do not know how to transfer her. The caregivers have been rough with her physically and caused damage to the house wheeling her about the house in her wheelchair.

They have specialist IV IG nurses and provided the best in home infusion care I have experienced so far out of 4 nursing agencies in Colorado Springs. Also their IV IG services extend all the way to Fort Collins. Though i wonder if the other reviewers are thinking of Interim of Pueblo who were less then capable over the phone.
