I have had a number of surgeries on my stomach. In 2012 I had part of my colon removed. Recovery was 7 weeks. A year later I had developed a surgical hernia and had that repaired. Recovery was 8 weeks. In November 2014, my stomach was still distended and the pain was increasing. CT scan showed 2 surgical hernias - the original one and a new one at the surgical site. I saw my surgeon and yes, I would need surgery to repair these hernias. He referred me to Dr. Canfield. I had an appointment with Dr. Canfield on a Monday and the surgery was Friday. The surgery went very well. I felt the difference immediately. I was able to walk the same day and use the facilities on my own too! The distension was gone!! First time in 4 years! Both of my surgeons were great, but Dr. Canfield is an expert at repairing hernias. I am so happy with my surgery and the results of my surgery - I would highly recommend him to any one at any time.!! Thank you Dr. Canfield and staff both at Advanced Lap and General Surgery and St. Lukes~

Dr. Canfield is great, however I had a very poor experience with the billing department after my surgery: The billing department did not submit my bill to my insurance company within 120 days. My insurance company denied the claim because it was not submitted in a timely manner, however a year later I received a call from a collections agency saying I was responsible for the entire bill. They did not submit it to my insurance and instead submitted it to a collections agency. I have been trying to get this straightened out for months and my credit score has been affected negatively due to a mistake made by the billing department. The issue is still not resolved and the bill remains in collections even though I had insurance at the time of the surgery.

Did not want to have surgery but once I really needed it - could not have a more POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. The staff at both his office and hospital were wonderful! I healed quickly. Had all my questions answered. They promptly returned all phone calls and gave me all the correct information.

I was very satisfied with the level of attention I received from each member of the medical team. Dr. Canfield reviewed the procedure with us let us know what to expect post-surgery. He provided a post-surgical update and answered all our questions. Highly recommended.
