I took my cat here because he wasnt eating as much as he usually does and they told me he had a bad tooth that needed to be pulled. Ive had multiple pets with this issue and set an appointment to get it pulled. He died almost 48 hours after having his tooth pulled. After taking him to a different emergency vet they told me he had gone blind, which could have been caused by touching a nerve near where his tooth was pulled. He also had water around his lungs and heart which can be caused by the tubes and gas used to put them asleep. I was horrified and deeply upset when they were unable to save him. When I had gone back to the vet here and told them what happened, in tears, they got the man who they said had worked on my cat. I dont remember a name but he was fat with a beard. He just kind of stared at me and when I began explaining what had happened, he cut me off saying "Yeah I know." I then asked what he thought about it and he replied with "You never know when things are going to go bad" and explained how pulling a tooth can kill a pet. He was completely rude, unsympathetic, and just seemed annoyed that I was there. I never got an "Im sorry for your loss" from anyone at the office. This is horrifying. This is the first and last time I have ever been here and I will never let anyone I know go here. I have had many pets had teeth pulled, none have ever died. My cat was only 5 and was otherwise healthy. My experience here and the complete lack of both help and sympathy has been beyond heartbreaking. This has been an extremely traumatic experience and I blame myself for not reading and listening to the other bad reviews here. Im sorry, I took you here, Potato, you didnt deserve this.

I have taken my 3 dogs, 20 year-old cat, and 29 year-old horse to GAH for 9+ years. I discovered them through the barn I moved my horse into in 2005 & Donna, both Garys and Jen have treated my horse since then. I cannot recommend them highly enough. All of the docs and techs are knowledgeable, caring/friendly & go the "extra mile" in every situation. The environment & equipment are clean & efficient and their prices cant be beat. Several reviews have noted the supposedly "grumpy", "rude" and/or "mean" receptionist. Ive dealt with many, many veterinary practices for over 30 years and countless receptionists & office staff in every other professional capacity. Ive also worked as a receptionist at a busy psychiatric practice. In over 9 years Ive experienced ONLY the highest quality, expedient & professional services from ALL of the support staff at GAH. My emergency calls have been responded to quickly, the pertinent information accurately communicated to the doc, saving time & energy by preventing repetition (and possible errors/forgetting a symptom, etc) in already stressful situations. Scheduling appointments or getting general questions answered is always quick & thorough. My statements/billing have always been correct. Ive been treated promptly, professionally, respectfully and always, ALWAYS, the comfort, care & needs of my animals have been paramount. Hopefully I will never have to find another vet for any of my animals, large or small. GAH is absolutely the best & I cant thank them enough.

Yes I agree the the receptoin desk have a couple that are snide and unfriendly and put off a feeling of not careing at times.Golden Animal Hospitol and thier vets have been around for so long that I can not imagine going anywhere else for my pets care. Over all the vets intense concern for the amimals and level of care is worth over looking an unfriendly smile at the counter. They will not be the ones working with your animals. Doc John has been around since the days of my mother when she was a little girl on the ranch with livstock needing care. They have such an old fashion but real sense of taking care of animals. They just "know" what to do. None of this we have to take a milllion test to find out whats wrong,then you get billed outrageous amounts. I had a little aussie/heeler puppy with problems breathing and at the time I lived too far from Golden to take her to be seen. The other vets wanted tons of blood work done, but then I went to Golden Animal as I use to in the past and Doctor Hill simply gave her a pill that was known for use on larger dogs but knew it would be the right fit for her. She had a serious case of Pneumonia and was close to death. 3 days later she was a brand new pup again.I recomend Golden Animal to everyone looking for a good and true vetrinarian.

I used them for 20 yrs 2 cats and 3 dogs. I always highly recommended them until this summer I couldnt have been more disappointed in my dogs time of need. Just before the 4th my dog fell seriously sick wouldnt eat couldnt hold water down she wouldnt move. The morning of day 3 I called the only vet Ive ever used and was told they couldnt see her for another 5 days because they were short staffed. When I explained she was dehydrated and couldnt keep any water down she told me I could use the ER services at Wheatridge Animal Hospital and was kind enough to inform me that would be very expensive. This the only vet shes known. Checked her out at 6 weeks all her shots even her mom was put down at Golden Animal Hospital now we are being turned away. I got her the last appointment that day at Ward Road Animal Hospital where they immediately put to saline bags in her coat and began aggressive treatment for pancreatites. It wasnt a quick recovery but she is normal now around to enjoy another holiday no thanks to Golden Animal Hospital. Could not be more disappointed their vets and techs are awesome but its to bad the business end sucks the most when it mattered the most.

4 stars for the vets and techs and their care !!! they would get 5 stars, but the "older" lady at the front is so VERY HORRIBLE !! I was there today , and she has no compassion , she has NO people skills. I have referred several people here , and I am now considering getting all of my little guys records and looking for another vet just because of her. I can not understand why they would keep such a terribly unpleasant, unfriendly, and completely unhelpful person at the front desk. I work in a medical facility , if the doctors EVER saw someone behave that unkind they would be let go. The people I have referred here have also said the "the old lady at the front desk" is horrible, one of the referrals went elsewhere just because of her nasty attitude. I really hope the office reads these and does something about this absolutely horribly unpleasant older lady at the front desk. I travel about 30 miles to this vet because I really like them, but dealing with her unpleasantness is becoming difficult. .

I have used Golden Animal hospital for 30 years. They have alsways taken care of our horses and Donna has cared for our horses for years. We trust her knowledge and she has great compassion for the horses. I have two pups one 6 months old one 5 months old. The 5 month old got a hold of half a gram of bute which was for our horse. I called to see who was on call thought it might be Donna and it was Dr Gary. I left a message and he called back. Reviewed what happened, told him how big Otis was and he told me what to do. I followed his inbstructions, it worked, and then called my dog vet who started out at Golden Animal Hospital years ago, that is where I knew him. He said I did the right thing. Well it is 5:30 pm and Otis seems to be doing fine. I just want to thank Dr. Gary with all my heart for helping Otis and me. These vets are exceptional! The front desk people can be abrupt but the one that all has reviewed truly is an extremely good person and also very caring of the animals.
