I have taken both my puppy and cat to this vet on multiple occasions. Overall the facilities are nice and clean and all surgeries have been done well with no issues. My problem comes from the fact that they are VERY opinionated and will not hesitate to make you feel guilty if you disagree with them. We found an abandoned cat about a year ago who was at most a year old. She had been out on her own for a while and had issues with her claws so we decided to do a declaw procedure. Every staff member who we spoke to from the vet to the person setting up the appointment gave us a lecture on how we were basically abusive but if we were going to get rid of her because the procedure wasn’t done then they would do it. We never said anything about getting rid of her by the way, and NEVER would. I understand that this is a controversial topic, and for that reason decided to let it go, but I love that cat so much I do not appreciate being treated like that. You have said your piece and we have made our decision so please stop. We decided to give them another shot when we adopted our puppy and wanted to get him neutered. We got the same hassle that it was not right for us to do the neuter at that time (4 months). We still went on with surgery as we were obligated to get him neutered under Colorado state law because he was from a rescue. When we picked him up they were saying how happy everyone was going to be that he was leaving. Apparently, he was whining, but not so bad that he had to be sent to the "back" where the problem dogs go but "he almost did". Excuse me? He is 4 months old, waking up in a strange place in pain and on drugs... who wouldnt whine? I have spoken with a few other neighbors and relatives that have been here and said that they had similar issues when setting up appointments and after picking up their pets. Personally, I understand that everyone has an opinion but this gets to a point where I do not want to come back. We pay a lot of money to care for our animals and that money is better served somewhere where the animals and owners will be respected.

My cat was sick. He had a growth in his leg and was getting old. In august it started out as a tiny bump and by September it took over his entire leg. Treating it with medicine wasnt helping. After speaking with my primary vet, I made the decision that it was better not to operate on a cat of that age. But he was in a lot of pain. My vet recommended that I take my cat to Arvada Flats to have him put down. At first, the visit was SUPER uncomfortable. I had to explain the situation to the vet that saw me. It is hard explaining to someone that you have already explored other treatment options when they dont know you. Once she understood that I was making an informed decision, she agreed. They put my cat and I in a room together to cuddle on the couch for a little while. Im not good at that emotional stuff, but I am glad I got to say a good bye and to let him know that I love him. I held him in my arms as he peacefully passed away. The vet was amazing (and I feel like a b word for not remembering her name off the top of my head.) She talked with him. Petted him. Loved him. Talked with me. Comforted me. THAT is someone who is supposed to be a vet. Someone who is filled with so much genuine love for animals. I wish she could have seen him before he got sick I am sure that is the worst part of their job. After it was all said and done. I just wanted to get home. So they agreed to bill me. I took forever paying the bill, and they havent made me feel like a dead beat for it or tacked on a bunch of extra fees. I am glad they tried to educate me on alternative treatment possibilities. And I hope they continue to do that in their practice. It makes me feel like I am going to an ethical Vet that prioritizes quality of treatment (animals are not objects and should not be treated as such.) Thanks guys ! I am forever greatfull for you!

We would like to thank Jessica and Joann for always making us feel so welcome and comfortable for Roxys appointments. They do their best to fit her into the schedule and always take time on the phone to answer our questions. Becky, Marci, Jane and Lexie take care of her just like she belongs to them. They are so gentle and caring, yet efficient, and Roxy loves to reward them with kisses. She has to get hydrated once a week and they make the experience as pleasant as possible. We could never have brought her back to good health without them, and we want them and Dr. Bassett to know how much we appreciate Arvada Flats Veterinary Hospital staff. Sincerely, John and Toni Scheunemann

THANK YOU...Arvada Flats for your genuine love, respect and care you always give my pets. I recently had my 4 dogs in for their wellness exams. My dogs are always so excited to visit your place. The environment is very clean and I continually get excellent and friendly service from the front desk to the technicians to the veterinarians. All the veterinarians expertise are top-notch and I know I can trust that my dogs are consistently in good hands. I cant say enough good things about AFV. Guess thats why I have been a client for over 35 years. Thank you for serving me and my beloved pets so well~~Tami Hoffman

Im very happy with this clinic. It took me awhile to find the right clinic for my pets because I need to feel the staff care and have time for my questions. Ive had some bad experiences at other vets, but have been with Arvada Flats now for a couple of years and I appreciate the time they take at exams explaining things to me and the love they show my pets. It seems like they really enjoy what they do and I think this team is in it for the right reasons! I highly recommend and think people need to know about this little gem of a vet clinic.

I took my cat here a couple years ago when she was sick and the vet was amazing. We recently took the cats in for check-ups and shots and the vet was HORRIBLE. She couldnt even figure out what year a 10 year old cat would have been born! My cat hated her to the point of having to be left there because she was so upset we couldnt get her back in the carrier... to which they said they had a broom they could use to move her... seriously?!?! Thanks for abusing my cat, she was terrified for days after I got her home.

We have taken our dogs to Arvada Flats for years. We had to put our English Springer down and they were so great about it- they have a private room so you can say your final goodbyes, and let you hold your pet on a couch while they put them down. No metal tables, nobody staring- just you, your pet and the vet. They made us a cement paw print free of charge- what a wonderful memory of our dog. The entire staff was so great- I would never take my pets anywhere BUT here!
