I made an appointment, and ended up waiting 50 minutes to be seen. As someone who works full time, I really didnt want to spend nearly an hour of my free time in a waiting room when I made an appointment. Dr. Schneid apologized for the wait after 20 minutes and said hed get to me in 10 minutes, which was nice except it took another 30 minutes. I was ready to walk out when I was called in. He apologized again for the wait, which is appreciated, but from reviews it does not seem unusual. It seems to be a high-volume practice from my observation. This also disrupts my patient experience because I dont want the appointment to last long since I feel sorry for everyone left in the waiting room, yet I also dont want the appointment to be hurried since I want to be fully evaluated with no pressure if something comes up. Dr. Schneids demeanor was professional and friendly, but again, I dont want to spend nearly an hour of my weekend day in a waiting room. The eye glasses I looked at Uptown Vision were also very expensive, I wish they had a better range of lower-priced eyewear.

I scheduled an appointment the day before for 2pm. I then got a call later that evening asking to push the appointment later. I was flexible, and it was rescheduled to 3:30. I arrived shortly before my appointment time to fill out paperwork and subsequently waited almost an hour after my appointment time for my exam. They had photocopied my insurance card at the beginning, and at the end, they said that they didnt work with my vision plan (even though they were the first place listed on my insurance companys website when I searched), and that I would have to pay for the exam. Later, I called my insurance company who verified the ID that is on my insurance card and said it should have been covered, and that they should have billed my insurance directly. Now all Im left with is getting less coverage by submitting it as an out-of-network claim, even though it was IN NETWORK. I thought my eye exam was thorough, but I am still entirely unimpressed with this place.

Dr. Schneider was great. He diagnosed my vision issue and referred me to a specialist. His years of experience paid off for me in this situation. I had been seeing a young eye doctor in a new practice out in Fairfax before moving to The District. My old eye doctor completely missed such an obvious issue. Thanks Dr. Schneider.
