I brought my wife in to Blake ER the waiting room was empty I know why, she went in for a very bad migraine she has meds at home but when she gets this bad she requires pain meds IV its all that will help she has been suffering from them for 8yrs and we have been to the ERs many times to seek relief from her pain that is so bad she keeps blacking out... now keep in mind this is my wife not a number and I love her more than anything under the heavens and to watch her suffer is sometimes more than I can bare. She is also allergic to many of the meds used to fight migraines. When dr whitney cesari came in I gave her a list of meds my wife is allergic to and the meds she takes. the dr told us she does not give pain meds for headaches I explained to her that over the years DRs have given her many types of meds to get rid of her migraines and many she had adverse reactions to and she did not want to experiment again when she is in this much pain but she would not give her any pain meds so she decided on a drug called Geodon the nurse gave her an IV of Magnesium and a IV injection of Geodon just a few moments after the shot she started to get a reaction from the injection like she was crawling out of her skin so now she had a migraine and a bad reaction I went to find the nurse she was in a side room sitting down talking to person "not a patient" I told her what was going on and it was getting worst by the minute she said she would be there in a minute so I went back to the room to comfort my wife we waited and waited no one came so I went to find the dr and the dr said she will tell the nurse so I went back to the room and waited and waited still no one came so I walked to the nurses station and asked for help another nurse and a tech came running down when they saw what was going on she went and got the dr. now the dr was on her way up the hallway and she passed our first nurse they looked at each other and laughed.... when the dr came in I told her what was happening and asked her to do something to help her she then told me there was nothing she could do because she was allergic to Benadryl and that was all that would help I said to her you mean your just going to leave her here and let her suffer with the pain and now the adverse reaction and she said there was nothing more she would do. at that point I told her we were leaving I helped my wife up and I removed her iv and I went and put her into the car and then went back inside to get my lists of her allergies and her meds I got them from the nurse I then went down to get the name of the dr so I could contact the hospital about what had happened the nurse followed me screaming get out I got the dr name and as I was leaving the nurse was still yelling at me so I returned her yelling with some of my own and left the ER unit DID I MENTION HOW MUCH I LOVED MY WIFE how could these people put her through this....

The worst place on earth . My wife , who is tough and high tolerance of pain , went to Blake after going to Manatee first . At 3 am 1/23/17 she had severe pain in her right shoulder. she had a 100.3 fever as well .We thought is was the flu ONLY 12 hours before, because of muscle aches . the pain went from her chest, to her right shoulder, and hitting with a pain level so bad, it is making her cry . We went to Manatee first, and the Doctor seen that she was in serious pain, and handled it promptly. Within the first hour and half . At Manatee, they ran a gambit of tests, but by 4 am they could not tell her what the trouble was .so with the pain relieved we went home. However by 8 am she was right back to the pain level as before . ....................We decided to go to Blake since Manatee could not find the problem. My wife was in agony for 6 hours with no relief under Blakes care.... the Doctor in the ER refused to giver her major pain relief for the entire time she was there . Right from the start the triage nurse got a real attitude , my wife started cry because she put the BP cuff on her hurting shoulder arm . she said "you must have a low threshold for pain" she then put it on her forearm . 2 hours later , we finally got in a room. and there she waited longer ..... meanwhile patients who clearly on had minor troubles were being taken car of . .......MY WIFE WAS CRYING FROM THE PAIN, AND THEY DID NOTHING....They did all the testing like Manatee . Then the Dr said all the tests came back normal , like Manatee ...but this Dr still refused to give her any pain relief. not because of pain meds given before at Manatee, he simply refused to help her feel better . My wife with held her own pain meds in hopes she would get some real relief . The Dr at Blake treated her like she was some dope addict looking for a fix !!...we are not drug users . but this doctor made us feel as if we were .... no pain relief because this Doctor thought she was not in pain . We live outside of Chicago for 8 months a year and come down for the winter . we are not spoiled people , but we do recognize quality health care . ...........THE SIMPLE TRUTH IS , MANATEE IS A DUMP AND SMELLS LIKE PEE... BUT THEY HAVE BETTER MEDICAL HELP AND TRULY CARE ABOUT MAKING YOU FEEL BETTER........ IF YOU WANT CLEANER HOSPITAL, GO TO BLAKE ....IF YOU WANT TO FEEL BETTER, GO TO MANATEE .....

I want people to be aware that Blake Medical Center has made it so their reviews are not accurate. The page admin. on their FB page has blocked me from leaving my unfavorable reviews. How can they come to an accurate star review when their not allowing negative reviews. How many other patient reviews have been blocked? Please just be warned to do your own investigating before allowing someone you know goes there for care. I just tried to leave my review on FB and Ive been blocked. Worse nightmare my family and I have ever experienced. And I will continue to relive it every day for the rest of my life. They dont even deserve one star. I sympathize with all of you who have had bad experiences. I truly can relate. I can write a book on our two month nightmare with Blake, but, I will try to make it as short as possible. It started from the day my Dad drove himself to the emergency room. He was an active, healthy 78 year old. Had emergency gallbladder surgery. He was on the road to recovery the next two days. On the third day he went down hill fast. He ended up in Septic Shock. Had a second surgery to see what was wrong and they discovered a perforated small intestine. Spent the next two months at Blake. Many things went wrong that could have been prevented. Many issues were brought to the hospitals attention, but, still nothing improved. My Dad passed away at Blake two months to the day that he went there. My Dad was treated like a number and not a human being. To them he was just a 78 year old man that had lived a full life. Blake is all about the money. They have no respect or value for a patients life. If you value your loved ones life do not go to Blake. We strongly believe if he had gone to another hospital he would still be with us today. If this review can save one patient from going to Blake and experiencing what we did, then, telling my story is well worth it. I see where personnel reviewing these reviews respond by thanking individuals giving a good review. They respond to negative reviews by passing the information on to other departments that never respond. Terrible, terrible, terrible Oh, I just learned that it is national Sepsis Awareness month. So, I just wanted to make the public aware that my Dad passed away from complications of Sepsis after surgery he had at Blake Medical Center.
