5 stars is not enough. My husband and I adopted a sweet 1year old terrier mix, who we named Maggie, on 12/29/2015 from MDAS. We knew she was Heartworm positive and MDAS was going to cover her treatment for that, she was also very emaciated. Because we have another dog at home, we wanted to have her seen by a vet to make sure she didnt have anything that could be given to our other dog. We called Cooper City Animal Clinic and the staff was super friendly on the phone and got us in for an appointment that day. When we arrived at Cooper a City Animal Clinic the staff was amazing, and very helpful. We were given paperwork on Maggies microchip, financial assistance, pet insurance, etc. Maggie had some blood tests run, and X-rays taken, to look at the possible damage to her lungs and heart because of the Heartworm. Dr. Comartin was wonderful. She was incredibly patient, answered all of my 100 questions, most of which I asked at least twice. She stayed late and really took time with us to make sure that we felt taken care of. The next day, we got the results of the X-rays, which were hard to read because of how skinny she was. We felt a mass in her abdomen, which Dr. Comartin took follow up images of. The images came back but still werent conclusive. At this point, we werent sure whether the mass was a tumor, or an intestinal blockage and Maggies symptoms didnt fit either diagnosis perfectly. A few days later, we brought Maggie in again because she had vomited and wasnt eating. The office would be closed the following day, and Dr. Comartin didnt want Maggie to go that extra day without some kind of treatment so she gave her some subcutaneous fluids. We had the option of doing an ultrasound to find out definitively what was wrong, or have an exploratory surgery done. We weighed our decision carefully, because money is tight for us, I am a student and my husband works. We asked Dr. Comartin what she would do. She put herself in our situation, and told us that she would just go ahead with the surgery because she knew money was tight for us and whatever they found on the ultrasound would most likely result in surgery anyway. On the morning of 1/4/2016, Maggie had vomited again. It was much more than what I had fed her that morning, which made my husband and I think it was a blockage. My husband called the office and we decided to go ahead with the surgery. Dr. Comartin got her in that day. Upon opening, they found that Maggies body was consumed by cancer. They called and we made the decision to put her to sleep during the surgery because she wouldnt have lived much longer following surgery, and the rest of her life would be painful. Maggie had already had enough pain in her short life and we didnt want that to be her end. The entire staff was absolutely wonderful throughout the whole process. We were able to come in to say goodbye to Maggie, when we did the entire staff had tears in their eyes. We opted to have Maggie cremated, and we got her back in about a week. Neither my husband or I have ever had any experience with a vets office caring as much as all of the staff at Cooper City Animal Clinic does. We will be forever grateful for all of their patience, kind words, time, caring, advice, support, and love. We got a call from Dr. Comartin about a week later. We had expressed an interest in fostering, and Dr. Comartin had a dog that was found and needed a home. We decided to foster the dog. We only had her for about 4 days and she had already found a home. Cooper City Animal Clinic truly cares about the well being of their patients. I cannot say enough positive things about them. Since then, we continue to visit Cooper City Animal Clinic, and Dr. Comartin with any problems our pets encounter. She diagnosed our most recent rescue, Lucy, with anaplasmosis and helped us through her treatment. Cooper City Animal Clinic continues to provide excellent veterinary care for the four legged members of our family.

If I could write a 0 star review for this animal clinic I 100% would. I dropped off my 7 month old little french/american bully this morning to be spayed after scheduled 2 weeks in advance. She arrived this morning well between the 8am-10am window to be greeted by an extremely rude receptionist who looked at my dog and myself as if we were aliens from outer space. Her condescending tone made me begin to realize this was already becoming a mistake. I brushed it off and let the day roll by preparing and expecting my puppy to come home a bit dizzy and medicated, but fully spayed and healthy. Did this happen? Absolutely not. I got a phone call around 3pm from the same receptionist who told me my puppy has been pushed to the back of the list because of some "emergency paying customers" and they wont get around to her today but if I wanted to leave her there OVERNIGHT they would maybe get to her in the morning.. WHAT A NIGHTMARE.. the THOUGHT of my poor puppy stuck in a kennel cage for hours for NOTHING was unbearable. I immediately hung up the phone, got in the car and went to go and get my dog. I arrived to a somewhat apologetic receptionist or vet tech and got my poor dog (after fighting with them about some fee they tried to charge me for the space puppy was apparently renting/taking up.. I got an appointment for her at a much better clinic in the same area to my surprise within 2 days and NOT 2 weeks. In absolutely NO circumstance would I recommend or let anyone who loves animals or pets even NEAR this place. Save yourself the mistake. Take your loved one somewhere else.

When I first met Dr. Raul Mendi, my bird was very ill & he gave her mouth to mouth resuscitation. I knew right then & there that he was the vet for me. After more than 30 years & countless fur & feather babies, the care, concern & the love that Dr. Mendi & his staff have for animals continues to astound me. They rescue animals weekly from being murdered @ nearby shelters & will take in strays to help put them up for adoption. They care for sick animals when the owners wont pay for their care. I have fostered many animals from Cooper City Animal Clinic & they worked hard to find these animals homes. Patricia & Rachel work hard to make fur families feel comfortable & Dr. Comartin is terrific. I cant say enough about the care for the animals & their humans that COOPER CITY ANIMAL HOSPITAL gives. I have used may veterinarians over the years....for my own pets as well with many animals I have rescued over the years. By far Dr. Comartin is the "VERY BEST" that I have ever had the pleasure to work with!!!!!!! She is extremely dedicated, caring and genuine. Her priority above all is the well being of any animal she comes in contact with. Additionally, the staff including Patricia and Racquel are EXCELLENT going ABOVE & BEYOND to ensure the customer is priority!! I cant say enough about how much they love and are willing to help animals in need. I highly recommend using their services. I will NEVER use another veterinarian again as long as Dr. Comartin, Patricia and Racquel. Cooper City Animal Hospital is just simply - OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
