Horrid service and attitudes by the staff, especially the mental health desk, and then refusal to give me refills on my medication for over a month. I just moved to the area and was unable to get mine through the mail from my old VA, and it took me over an hour and a half to get a small emergency supply recently. They gave me 2 weeks... then scheduled my mental health medication provider (they dont have any psychologists or psychiatrists on staff which is deplorable) 6 weeks out. Really? Also. I was told my psychiatric medications were "just masking my problems" and that I needed to get over my crippling mental disorders. I was also told that PTSD "is easy to get over" and that "its all in your head" by a medical professional. I guess my 100% VA rating, my 100% CRSC rating, and my social security disability approval means nothing as I was reprimanded for not having a job or being in school. Apparently I have "no purpose and direction in life" and "you need to get over this and move on" Because of their refusal to refill my medications last month I had been rationing and taking half doses for 2 weeks just to get by. This has destroyed much of the progress that has been made in the last 7 years of intensive care and therapy. They even refuse REFUSE to give me psychological care through them. "We dont have space for you. Call these numbers and figure out something" direct quote. I am in the process of contacting the proper personnel to file as many complaints as possible. This is unnacceptable behavior by medical and administrative staff. This will not go unnoticed and I am writing and calling my congressman. These incompetent sad excuses for human beings just endangered my life and those around me and they all should be relieved of duty.

They NEVER answer the phone. The VA Phone system drives us to insanity (probably the point). THE VA IS THE PRIMARY REASON 22 Veterans A DAY continue to commit suicide. These incompetent, uncaring ass hats collecting their government paycheck are the problem with this system; once they get their guaranteed GS job and are essentially impossible to fire, they sit back and do as little as possible while veterans are LITERALLY DYING for help. And so begins a lifelong disservice and apathy to our veterans. But hey, theyre in their cush job for life so what do they care as long as that check comes every 2 weeks right? And heres a novel idea: When another VA Doctor has a patient on a set regimen of medication for a number of years, please dont hide behind "Im not comfortable" maintaining the same regimen. Your level of comfort isnt more important than the mental health of a patient. Who, strangely enough, is able to maintain a career and other sense of normalcy on said (non-narcotic) medication regimen. Just because some abuse medication doesnt mean the rest of us should suffer. Mostly though, its the phones. Getting a person on the line is damn near impossible. Unless of course youre routed to the most apathetic, lazy hub of all incompetent bureaucratic leaches known to man (AKA the VA Biloxi). Expect no help there either. I swear, how America has allowed this system to care for veterans is beyond me. As much as Im no fan of Trump maybe hell do something to fix this problem. I pray someone, someday, does something to help us.

Thank you Paul Edwards and Nurse Tina. All too often we only hear about something negative happening within the VA Health Care System. I never see glowing compliments on the evening news. Recently on vacation at the FamCamp in Niceville I had a serious problem with my nebulizer. Im in trouble without it as I was exposed to Agent Orange in 1970. I went to the Eglin VA Clinic in hopes of getting a prescription for the parts I needed - so that I could then dash to the medical supply company . This was on friday afternoon and if I didnt get this straightened out quickly I could have ended up with a big problem - potentially leading to emergency room and hospitalization. After explaining my dilemma to Paul Edwards , he and Nurse Tina went out of their way to solve my problem and get me on my way . I salute you both and want to tell you how much I appreciate your actions. WELL DONE.

My first an only visit 6 years ago was met with a lazy check in clerk, bitchy nurse, but awesome doc. I was told to drop off some documents and they would fax to the Pensacola VA. The fax was broke, the fax guy was at the desk, feet propped up, and reading; he ignored me. Now, Im told to see a VA doc about PTSD so I call Eglin VA and try to make an appointment, and keep being told I dont have an appointment. So I call a different number and told Im #1, then #9, then #4 five different times, then the line goes dead! A person eventually answered the telephone and I made an appointment, which was only a few days away. The tech and provider were awesome.

This is the first time Ive wrote a review relating to a hospital or doctor visit, but it seems most are right about the staff (or at least the doctor I saw). I literally felt like he was always turning any issue I had around and saying it was natural or my fault, half or more were from work related issues. I felt like I was forced to treat it as a hostile interview almost and nothing I said or did was what I should be doing, even if it was what he said should, I would always be one upped. I still get annoyed about it. I also was not given any guidance on follow up referrals or even information since he was trying to push me to other providers

The Eglin VA Clinic telephone system will drive a vet to consider suicide as a preferable option. How do you go from being next in the telephone queue to 10th in the queue then to 9th in the queue and then back to 10th in the queue. Is this the new method of keeping the medical statistics inflated by frustrating a vet to the edge of insanity so they will hang up and give up on seeking the medical care earned after decades of service?

Medical staff give you the runaround about your condition. Run tests then wont treat you for your condition. Will not honor outside prescriptions.

After enrolling, was not able to receive ID card. 4 visits = 0 results. Didnt go back for 2 years. Moved and the VA wants me to enroll again...

Doctors unwilling to discuss obvious mental problems for most patients. They just hope they die before getting treated.
