The only PRIDE this hospital unit has left, is that theyve lost any and all meaning of the word. I was viciously attacked by a crack/cocaine addict and the staff looked the other way. After three hand surgeries, because the perpetrator ripped my right hand to shreds with his un-cut and long fingernails, I filed a formal complaint. I was told it was thrown directly into the trash can. If you have any modicum of PRIDE yourself, I suggest you check into the county jail first. At least there, the prison guards have more compassion. Or so Ive heard. I checked in to detox off of benzos and they placed me in the same "supposedly safest" ward with seriously disturbed and deranged patients. Most of the psychiatrists and therapists treat adolescents in a "revolving door" policy. If that works for parents out there, go ahead and waste your money. Your kids spend most of the day playing ping pong. But, if youre over 16, and can board a plane elsewhere, I suggest you do so before you waste a penny of your valuable money or life here. If youre a masochist, however, by all means - check yourself in - and enjoy eternal suffering and trauma at the hands of moronic and sophomoric resident/psychiatrists - who spend all of one minute with you prescribing meds that HURT you instead of HELP you. Be ready for the business office to act more like an ATM vacuum machine than an actually caring hospital. In short, no insurance, no more stay. Youll get more out of attending AA meetings right next door and getting a sponsor and working the steps and staying home or with a friend (not an enabler) if you have an addiction problem. Or check directly into a rehab, there are plenty all over the country that do both detox and have dual diagnosis programs. If that doesnt convince you NOT to go, be prepared to enjoy enduring sub-zero temperatures in the hospital unit second only to the degrees found in the North or South Pole. Even the staff wear parkas. Pack your long-underwear and winter socks. I highly UN-RECOMMEND" this hospital. Youll get more bang for your buck and for your mental health ANYWHERE but here. If youre LGBT, look into the Greenhouse in Dallas. But there are a million alternatives. This should be the place of LAST resort. The head nurse of the hospital is something that was cast right out of "SOMEONE FLEW OVER THE CUKOOS NEST". In the event you do check in, be afraid. Be VERY AFRAID.

Warning: Stay away. This is a Psychiatric hospital, not an alcoholic detox center. I submitted myself there on Sunday morning for alcohol detox. The first 2 days was bearable, the food was absolutely horrible, the doctor wasnt bad and the meetings werent bad. But almost everyone there was shaking severely or just sleeping while sitting in a chair. Even a couple of staff members were descent. I was there for 5 days, and luckily for me the doctor discharged me on the 4th. day, but I had to wait 24hrs. To be released. I will admit I was going through Delirium Tremens (DTs) which is extremely dangerous based on how much I was drinking. But the last night I was there I had not slept in 3 nights prior and the security guys would do spot checks every night about 30 minutes apart, the last night I was there was the worst, this security guy by the name of Alex was monitoring the rooms and Im laying in my bed trying to go to sleep, I hear the door open about 1:00 am and then I hear this loud music playing, I turn my head and I see this big black baboon (Alex) with his microphone dangling over my ear, then he continues to harass me and my roommates every 5 to 10 minutes, I go to the desk and complain, and he returns, then I go back and I asked to have someone else check the room, and finally they did, just to cover there asses. When you sign the paperwork you are at there mercy, in other words you are now under the Baker act. You have no rights whatsoever. Even the secretary knew my mother and she did not warn me, I guess that is why they dont talk anymore. If you have, or a loved one has problems, I highly recommend you find another treatment center.

I thought I was chkn into a real Hospital to treat with alcoholism not a Psychiatric Hospital! 7 hour wait to check into the facilities and finding out you do not get the help you were expecting. I was informed if I wanted to go to ER let them know......I informed them I wanted to go right away{6:30PM). The RN told me I would have to wait till I see a Dr tomorrow. In the morning I asked when can I go to ER and again they said I would have to wait for me to see the Dr and they dont know when he will come. I knew I was getting the run around so I signed myself out at 9:30am. Needless to say Dr didnt come till 4:30pm! I was told I would have to see Psychiatrist to be released and it takes 24hrs. Why a Psychiatrist....I didnt go there for a psychiatric reason. I saw the Psychiatrist around 6:30pm. He released me but I could not leave because there was no therapist to sign off until the morning time! The patients there kept repeating that they have been there many times! Maybe if I saw the reviews I would of never went! Stupid me! No electronics, belts, shoe strings, razors, etc were allowed. Maybe I should of got the hint when Miami Dade police and other police agency brought people in with handcuffs! Oh forgot I had to strip naked and searched as I am vomiting/dehydrated because I was so sick. It was like "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" HOW CAN A TREATMENT HOSPITAL BE A GREAT PLACE IF STAFF KEPT TELLING PATIENTS ITS GREAT TO SEE YOU BACK AGAIN! DO NOT GO THERE!

The people that work here think they can treat you like a subhuman and the doctors like to make threats of painful injections with their mind disabling lobotomy drugs by force using violence if you refuse the overdose of unnecessary make you shuffle and drool cant think at all pills ( violence like a rapist uses to penetrate his victims they threaten use to penetrate you with unwanted injections) What they dont seem to get is that someday they might run into a former patient victim outside this hellhole in a dark place with no panic buttons to call the goons to assault patients before the conversation is over. I know right from wrong and what goes on in this place is just wrong. Putting something in a persons body against their will is rape, this includes pills and needles. I needed rest and sleep after my nervous breakdown to recover and instead got this nightmare including threats of violence (forced disabling drugs) by these barbarians . You MUST take these pills even though possible death is listed in the side effects... Unbelievable but thats what they do in this place. They call it "help" but the sad irony is that when patients get assaulted by staff they yell "help" but its the help thats assaulting them.

do yourself or a loved one a favor dont go to this facility. this facility does not give you help. what they do is hold you until your time is up then release you. mold is everywhere, staff makes fun of patients with mental disorders, and they love to agitate the mental patients so that they can shoot them up and basically keep them in a zombie state. they constantly talk down to you and threaten you with keeping you longer. detox and mental patients are kept together not a good mix. staff is basically one nurse and bunch of thugs. Doctors are NOT part of the staff as they come in once a day. dont believe me look at the job openings they have. overall this is the bottom of the barrel and it is a shame that this facility can use the word hospital in their name as this is not. Even the staff will tell you that this place is bad and only getting worse, I EVEN WITNESS TWO MALE TECHS / NURSE GIVE A WOMEN AN INJECTION AGAINST HER WILL ON HER BACKSIDE. this post is my first action that I am personally taking against this facility, I will also file a complaint with DCF, AND BOARD OF HEALTH AND I AM ALSO LOOKING INTO TAKING LEGAL ACTION.
