Dont be fooled by the brand name. This hospitals level of care is terrible. I came to visit my friend who was admitted for a hip fracture, and we had a terrible time getting ANY nurse to come to assist with mobility from the bed to the chair and especially for bathroom needs. Multiple times he was not able to hold it, and would urinate on the floor, himself and the bed. When a nurse finally did come, she didnt change his soaked linens, but let him lie there in the wet and stench. When I went out to the hall to look for a nurse, they would say they would get his nurse, but after 15 minutes, no one came. After 30 minutes, still no one came. This hospitals service is a disgrace, their help is incompetent, rude, inefficient and lacking in willingness to help and assist their patients. When a hospital is in the business of taking care of the sick and elderly, it is their responsibility not to neglect their duties. When they fall short, they get a review such as this. I would not be able to trust that my own family would be well taken care of after seeing how my friends needs were ignored, time and time again. The nurses and doctors did not clearly communicate in laymans terms, what was going on, procedures, medications, etc. Instead, my friend and his family were interrogated by a team of "professionals" to determine the cause of his symptoms. This interrogation was unnecessary and caused much emotional and mental distress of my friend and his family.

I gave birth here in May of 2017 and I wouldnt go anywhere else. The nurses were wonderful! I really wanted to go as long as possible without pain medicine and they were very encouraging. I was admitted at 3:00 am and my overnight nurse sat and talked with me for an hour to keep my mind off the pain. I delivered that day in the afternoon and before I left, both the overnight nurse and the one who helped me deliver came to meet the baby and give their congrats. They also sent a congrats/thank you card a few weeks later and personally signed with well wishers and even named my baby by name. One fun thing: if you call the front desk and tell them you gave birth, they will play Happy Birthday for your baby over the speakers for the hospital to celebrate with you. Try getting any of these things at Magee! Magee is still a good hospital, but if you are looking for a more one-on-one, personalized delivery but arent quite ready to leap to a birthing center or home birth like I was, this is probably your best bet. I will be going here for baby #2.

You gals and guys are just amazing. Thank you so much. I honestly thank you. Never in my life have I been taken care of so good before. Just an awesome staff of doctors, students, nurses, and techs. You all should be damn proud of your selves. Again thank you so much for getting this hard headed lug healthy. Im so impressed. You give the medical arena a outstanding name. Im just overly grateful for what you were able to do for me, even though I was not happy I had to stay overnight. But I understand I had to now, and thank you. Everyone was amazing, the doctors, the student who got to experiment(learn) on me, John my rn who bsd fishing with me. Megan my tech, who made sure my vitals were good, and got me clean blankets, and food. That girl is a saint. Kat my other rn who was great at keeping my spirits high on getting out of there. The doctor on my out was amazing on getting the best treatment. Just awesome experience all together. Seriously you all need to give yourselves some high fives. Just awesome thank you.

Awful facility. I went for routine x-rays and blood work. They botched both horrifically. They used the x-ray machine on me multiple times but couldnt get any images to appear. I was exposed to the radiation for nothing. I heard the techs saying the machine had been failing recently. Not sure if they arent willing to put money into fixing things or if the techs just dont know how to do their job. Then when I got the results of my blood test it said it couldnt be calculated. I showed it to a lab tech at another facility to ask what the problem was. He explained the person who drew the blood didnt handle it properly so there were dead cells in it. My entire trip there was nothing but a headache. I got no test results, and Im still getting bills from it. When I try to call the phone will ring for ten minutes at a time and no one answers. If I had an accident outside their front door I would ask to be taken across town to another hospital. Dont put something as precious as your health into their incompetent hands.

This is the absolute worst emergency room to ever go to and most unprofessional staff I have ever come across. I have spinal stenosis and came in with further injury and the dr literally accused me of wanting pain medicine when I already have it !!! Denied me of treatment and said have a good evening. What a joke !!!!! Dont use this hospital. This woman needs fired. Md Tracy Moore. Pathetic excuse of a so called "dr". I wouldnt send my worst enemy to this place

I always say that I wish I could do the whole thing over again bcs of how wonderful the expierence was!!! Wish I couldve done more than just say "thank you". Ill always recommend this hospital for expecting mothers, and deliver all my babies here!!

The womans oncology dept is wonderful. my surgery was done beautifully and recoveres very fast from the wonderful care i recieved. 4 stars where giving because of the ER they treat everyone as drug seeking. i was an extreme pain from crohns and lupus....but the gave me nothing...and they failed to tell me i had a HUGE cyst on my ovary. i found out 14 days later on myupmc page. they are the worst.

Typically I would not give this hospital that many stars. However, I did have a throat procedure there yesterday and all the nurses, anesthesiologist as well as my doctor was fantastic! They all deserve 5-stars for yesterdays well-deserved job. The doctor was Dr. Lawrence Crist, a cardiothoracic surgeon and countless anesthesiologists as well as nurses in the pre-OP, OR and post-OP

Will not go back I had open heart surgery when I was young back in 1978. Because I was from a rehabilitation center the staff treated me like I was retarded and never explain to me what was going on. The room I was in was a dump and dirty. Food was bad. Staff and doctors where mean I do hope that u.p.m.c changed this hospital. But as of now I would not send a dog here
