I had to take my Husband there at 4am on a Saturday for severe lower back pain. It was surprisingly busy. I mean there were 4 people waiting to be seen before us. Yeah it was an hour later but the lady at the front desk kept calling to see when a room would open up. I felt bad for my Husband but I also knew that if they werent rushing him in there right away, it wasnt anything serious. Once in he was taken to a catscan and returned quickly. I think it was another 30 to an hour for them to get him pain meds mainly due to his veins being "valvy" which means that he has too many valve flaps on the inside and the needle just wasnt going through all of them. Anyway it turns out it was a fairly large kidney stone causing the problem After they finally got the pain meds in I left for a few hours. If I thought they were busy before, at 11am it nearly quadrupled in busyness. The floor they wanted to assign my husband to was full and he stayed in the ER because they had no where else to put them (I gleaned this from a nurse I had summoned because my husband was in pain again and was too chicken to click the button) apparently they had several codes and thinking back on it Im fairly certain I walked by someone who had died. Once they finally got my husband a room they kept him on fluids and scheduled him for an 11am surgery for Sunday. When Sunday came around I went in early since my husband said that he was scheduled for surgery between 6am and 11am. 11am rolled around and nothing, then 11:15 and 11:30am. Just as I was about to go find his nurse she came in and asked if we had heard from the doctor. We said no and she then said she would make a few calls because the OR didnt seem to know what surgery she was talking about when she called at 11. A few minutes later she was able to get the doctor on the phone and he explained they had a couple of triple A cases come in (it means that they would have bled to death if they did not get into surgery). Since the hospital was expensive we discussed our options, unfortunelty the only option was to stay and wait for surgery tomorrow. So we were stuck. Or so it seemed. As I was about to leave for the third time (literally walked up and down the hallway twice) I saw the doctor walk into my Husbands room. So the nurse and I rushed over. He pretty much explained the same thing that he did over the phone. I explained our financial situation to him over the phone and asked if there was ANY possible way to fit him in that day. He said he would see what he could do. A few minutes later they came back and said the doctor was able to work him in since there were so many cancellations :). I thanked then profusely and left to go gather some stuff/eat/etc. Before I was able to finish I got a text from my husband saying he was going into surgery now. I was shocked that it was so fast. We were expecting it to be later that day! I rushed over spent a few hours in the waiting room and everything was a success. I also heard from another lady that was sitting there that they saved their loved ones life that day even though chances were low. A couple hours of recovery and we were back home. Im very pleased with the overall experience with this hospital even if it was a little slow. I understand that there are other people who were in a lot worse shape than my Husband. Im just happy they could see to him as quickly as they could and alleviate his pain. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars!!!

PLEASE READ. Do NOT go to this hospital. My dad and I came to visit my granddad at the hospital, walking in the security guards were watching TV and having a whole conversation but thats not the worst part . Going up to see my granddad in his room he informed us that he didnt eat all day, when asking the nurse to get him something to eat she responded by saying "the cafeteria is closed but we have crackers". We decided to get him something to eat when returning we found the main entrance closed so we decided to go through the emergency room, we asked the nurse who looked up at us directions to the room and she told us to go through the door , as we are going through the door the security guard decides to give us a hard time saying that we should asked him first. We only address those who address us, he heard our conversation with the nurse but didnt say a thing. Walking in this hospital made me feel like I was in a walking dead episode, the hallways are clear there is no one around to assist you if someone wanted to do damage to this hospital they could because no one cares. The emergency room had about 40 people and no one was being helped, there were patients yelling but no one answered. The people that were around were having conversations about their time off .It is obvious that the nurses, doctors, etc should be ashamed of theirselves because they cheated their way into this hospital by knowing someone and dont work to their full potential this hospital is filled with new lazy people that have no experience whatsoever and it is SAD. By the way the Nurse never showed up again to bring us his discharge papers. PLEASE save yourself the trouble and go to an actual hospital.

I was admitted here on Fri Feb 5, 2016 for very bad pain in the abdominal area. I was given a CT scan which didnt reveal the cause of pain, which led to them admitting me for further testing. However, they never provided any other test, only gave me pain medicine on a regular schedule to suppress the pain but not fix anything. I was released on the evening of the following day with the wrong diagnoses and instructions to follow up the following week... That same night I experienced such severe pain that I ended up going to a different hospital (University Hospital- in North Lauderdale). After getting an ultrasound ( which is the 1st test I should have received based off of my symptoms), University Hospital immediately transferred me to Plantation Hospital to have an emergency life saving surgery. That surgery ultimately led to the saving of my life. I am very dissatisfied with the results of my first time ever being admitted into a hospital at the hands of North Broward Medical. I am also happy to say that due to the urgency and great treatment I received at University Hospital I am now recovering very well. Ive always been intimidated by hospitals, and sadly my experience at NBMC did nothing to help. Please be mindful when taking yourself or loved ones to this establishment. Good day.

The only good thing I can say is that the nurse was very friendly. I was seen right away due to shallow breathing, increased heart rate, feeling heaviness of the chest and feeling faint. I am highly anemic and have neuropathy and Graves disease which I told the triage nurse. The first nurse came in and was very friendly and made me feel better. Said high heart rate was prob due to anxiety. Then came the other nurse who took my blood from my elbow (seriously not joking I have pics) which of course should could not get any blood out so she took it from my hand . That was the last I heard from them for 3 hours. I just sat there and listened about them getting puppies and wondering that the words to Rhiannas latest song were. The they came in to discharge me with no instructions nothing. They handed me a few pieces of paper about anxiety (which I have been dealing with since I was 13) and told me to have a nice night. I asked about the fainting feeling and chest palpitations. No answer. Seriously I didnt expect the head of cardio thoracic surgery to come to talk to me but a little info would have helped... even if the answer was we arent sure whats going on.
