I can see better than 20/20 because of the LASIK done by Dr. Schnipper at the Jacksonville Eye Center. I did wear glasses for 15 years before I finally considered having LASIK done. There are a lot of serious questions that I had to have answered and he laid them all to rest. Hes a funny guy and that helps the whole situation. I think he sees a lot of very nervous people. Heres the most important things to take away that made me say "yes" to the procedure: The current LASIK procedure that he does is 100% lasers (a combination of the Intralase for the corneal flap and the Allegretto Wave Excimer Laser for the vision correction). There are no more blades involved (if someone says theyre using blades, walk away). The lasers he uses follows the spherical contour of the eye instead of treating it like a flat plane (so issues of depth perception and distorted vision are a thing of the past). Your night vision will only be as good as it was when you could see (if you can remember that far back). The new lasers can be set to only go as wide as your pupil opens when it is dark outside and does not over correct causing the "halo" effect that many people complain about from older "broad lasers" that were kind of one-size-fits-all. Finally... "YES," your eyes will be a bit dry for a while, but it does go away. I promise. He ONLY performs the procedure if youre an EXCELLENT candidate (e.g. thick corneas, low eye dryness, etc.). He told me a story about a guy he said "no" to that went elsewhere to find someone who would say "yes" and the results were not good. There are profiteering centers out there, so watch out. Dont be fooled by heavily discounted offers. These are your eyes your dealing with and you have to be able to see for the rest of your life. It may seem expensive, but its a life long investment that you wont regret. Tip: After the procedure, YOU MUST STAY ASLEEP FOR 4-5 HOURS. If for any reason you wake up, take more of the Ambien that they give you. If youre not sure, Id just take one after you leave the office and a second when you get back to your bed. Do not do the surgery day alone. You really need someone with you. Honestly, I wouldnt go anywhere else to have this procedure done. The whole team was so thorough in making sure I was an excellent candidate for the procedure and the follow-up with making sure everything had gone well was very calming. Dr. Schnipper is first and foremost an accomplished eye surgeon who deals with things like cataracts and other serious eye conditions. It really gave me piece of mind knowing that he was handling my eyes for this elective procedure. So (for those of you far away)... if you can, Id recommend booking 7 days in Jacksonville (with a companion as your designated driver) for a medical vacation: 1. Have you eyes tested before hand at an eye doctor so you dont waste your time getting out to Jacksonville. 2. Get your eyes re-tested at the center on a Monday. 3. Have the procedure on a Tuesday. 4. Get some sun. Eat some good food. Just say away from heavy winds, water in your eyes and pointy objects. 5. Return that Friday or Monday for your follow-up. 6. Fly back home and have a 3 month check-up with your eye doctor to make sure everything is OK. Dr. Schnipper is the best and you can rest easy knowing that hes going to help you see again. If you make an appointment, make sure you mention "George from LA" told you all about it. It might get you a little discount.

All I have to say is if you are having Cataract surgery done, do yourself a favor and go to Dr. Patel. He will not nickel and dime you with out of pocket fees. I paid over $265 out of pocket for a kit which was a plastic eye patch and a carry bag you find at the $ store. And a special measurement procedure that supposedly I needed to have done because I had Lasik surgery years ago. And of course they told me wasnt covered by my insurance. Total cost I paid to Dr Schnipper $429 (that does not include my deductible of $500). I had my left eye done at Dr. Patel total cost $224 no hidden fees, no out of pocket expense. He didnt charge me for my eye patch and he didnt perform a $250 special measurement procedure. He even gave me Monovision at no extra charge. Something Dr. Schnipper was going to charge me $700 extra for. He took his time with me. And I never sat in the waiting room for more then 15 minutes. His office staff are wonder along with his billing staff. The only reason I gave this 4 * was so they wont delete my review. This is the second one Im posted because the first one was removed. Because they know what Im posting is true. Oh yea Dr. Patel also performs Lasik surgery.

I went to Dr. Schnipper after 15+ years of wearing glasses. I wanted to be able to wear sunglasses and not have glasses that had to be worn. Making that unsightly marking on the nose. The staff was very kind, polite and very helpful. Dr. Schnipper was the "Patch Adams" of eyesight. A very likable Doctor that really cares about his patients. He has the team check two and three times to make sure they are as precise in getting your eyesight the best it can be. The great Dr. only believes in the latest safest technologies as well. When performing the Lasik operation he was kind, and gave direction, and told you what to expect. If your thinking about Lasik in North Florida I highly advise working with Dr. Schnipper. Dr. Schnipper brought my vision back, and now I can live life the way Ive always wanted to! No more contacts, glasses, and all that stuff I had to lug around with me. The appointment was expedient and professional. They walk you through every step of the procedure, and work around whatever needs you have. I had a -7.00 vision prescription one day and 20/20 vision the next! I still cant believe its true, but I am so happy it is. Dont go anywhere else for Lasik! Dr. Schnipper has been doing this for more than 20 years, and the experience shows in my now perfect vision.

I heard from friends and coworkers that Dr. Schnipper is the one of best doctors for lasik. Because I had astigmatism in both eyes, I didnt want to take a chance by having just any doctor operate on my eyes just to save money. I met with Dr. Schnipper, and he said that I qualified for lasik. I did it. Its been a year since the surgery, and my vision is still 20/20. Thank you, Dr. Schnipper! My eyes are no longer irritated by contacts and my face doesnt feel bothered by eyeglasses.

I had an appointment today 3-15-17 at 3:30pm. I arrived at 3:00pm. At 4:30 I walked out and told the receptionist that if I missed an appointment, I wouldve been charged a fee. What is the purpose of having appointments? They missed my appointment by making me wait an hour. They should pay me a fee for lost wages from taking off from work. I am pay for a service and they have piss poor service.
