Dont take your dog here! Staff is stiff, cold and unfriendly! They bascially robbed me blind with the amount they charged me ... $831 dollars later.. Heres Jaspers story: I took my dog in the morning when I found him vomiting and not acting like himself. The doctor came in, pat him on the head as if he was terrified by him and then examined him in .25 seconds. He informed that my dog has bad allergies (which I already knew), and an ear infection...wanna know how much that cost initially? $625 DOLLARS! For an ear infection and allergies?!?!?! Doctor left to write up "treatment plan," and my dog puked in the room. I informed the doctor that he puked again, and THEN he showed concern. Doctor said he needed blood work done and an X-ray, and all of the other "treatments" with his allergies and ear infection can be put off for now. (Which just goes to show you that they only care about taking your money and not focusing on the real issue with the animal). Blood work and and x-ray was going to cost me another $600!! Just for those 2 tests. I chose blood work bc I couldnt afford both and my dog was diagnosed with Pancreatitis and needed IV fluid therapy to get hydrated. Doctor did not care that I couldnt afford all of the treatment he needed. He told me to choose which one I could afford.. After fluid therapy my dog was to be put on a low fat/low calorie diet...The bill at the end of the night was $831!!! All for blood work, IV fluids, and antibiotics for his upset stomach. If I could plug in a middle finger emoji, I would... NEXT DAY....my dog still isnt better. He was lethargic and looked AWFUL. I didnt want to take him back to San Marco because I got such a bad vibe, bad energy, they were very cold and unwelcoming and BAD treatment plan!! A friend recommended St. Francis Animal Hospital and HOLY COW, what a difference. Let me start by telling you the price difference......IV Fluid Therapy at San Marco was $135, Fluid Therapy at St. Francis....$30!!!! They recommended an x-ray (which was $200 CHEAPER than San Marco)..turns out he had a sewing needle and strings wrapped around his intestines!!!! Screw San Marco Animal Hospital...they are awful. DONT take your dog there! I will post my review for St. Francis Animal Hospital on their page where they will receive 5 stars from me!

These guys are very kind hearted! EDIT: Wow! After reading some reviews in here I really felt I needed to go into a lot more detail about my experience! I took a stray cat I adopted to these guys because she started having tremors. She was the little love of my life! These guys were very helpful! They worked well together to brainstorm and problem solve. I even had to bring her back in last minute because she was getting worse and they immediately had me come in!!! They knew exactly when it was time to refer me to North Florida Pet Neurology in Orange Park, and didnt waste time when they realized the situation was bad! I have so much trouble even rememebring this awful time in my life. It was excruciating, but they really went to a great effort to help her and made the best possible choices they could quickly enough that if she had been able to be saved, I would have been able to do so. Unfortunately she had a brain infection that didnt respond to treatment by the neurologist, and I lost her. These guys sent me a lengthy handwritten letter of sympathy afterwards, the kind of letter that showed me they knew exactly who I was, what I went through, and how much I cared for her. I should also say that I am someone who makes under 1k a month, but the pricing here (and at the neurologist) was absolutely affordable and worth every penny. I dont know how expensive vet school is, but these people have chosen a field of work that is compassionate and worthwhile so if the result of that schooling is that vets arent as "cheap" as people would like, or if a vet cant solve every problem they run into, I hope people will consider that these guys are humans too (and they are humans that have a much greater potential to save beloved pets than you do on your own). Medical science for humans AND animals isnt as simple as a lot of people think. I have been to A LOT of vets in many cities in the U.S. in my life, and not only are these guys in my top 5, but they are the only vet in my top 5 that isnt a specialist. I am incredibly thankful for them.

I chose this vet after moving to the area because of all the great reviews it had online. However, I have had a much different experience. My bad experiences start with the front desk attendants. First of all, they all seem to hate dogs. If you have a problem with a dog trying to greet you, why do you work at a vets office? The entryway is a small room and there is not much room for multiple dogs to be waiting. While I was in the waiting area with my dog, he and another dog were barking at each other and a front desk attendant came out of one of the examination rooms and scolded my dog without consulting me first. I was taken back by this. I have waited in the lobby for close to 30 minutes before (with other dogs waiting too) while there have been examination rooms empty. Then, once my dog has actually been seen by a vet, they over prescribe medications that dont fix the problem. I spent $300 in medication for a cold and sore my dog had on his nose. Two visits and three weeks later the problem still persists. The vets seem to have an impersonable relationship with the pets they treat. I have had the same vet twice for the same dog with the same problem less than two months apart and he did not recognize me or the dog. I am going to try another clinic that cares more about the animals they treat.

I have tried Dr. Sri and the San Marco a few times now. I really wanted to like them, because they are open on weekends and I generally need weekend appts for my dog. Unfortunately I cannot shake the feeling that Dr. Sri is just trying to drive up my bill. She literally will suggest a few extra vaccinations, blood work, teeth cleaning, special "human" anethesia, topical creams and sprays and many other pills and tests to me each time I come in. Its one thing to want the best for your beloved animal, but she is really good guilting you into purchasing all these extra tests and pills. Her exact words were "its not a common disease, but it is deadly and you could have prevented it if youd have gotten this vaccination." I have been to other vets and I have never felt this strongly to write a review. I honestly feel as though she is a very nice lady, but does not have my dogs best interest in mind.

I just adopted my dog Gordon and noticed he was having some issues so i knew i needed a vet soon. Looked at the reviews online for SMAH and saw good things so i called to make an appointment. They told me I was able to come in right then! Gordon clearly hasnt been to the vet too much and it was evident that he didnt like it, but they were very calm and treated him as sweet could be! Im so thankful for how professional and delicately they handled him because he was really trying to get away. They gave him exactly what he needed and the doctor did an excellent job of informing me on what they were doing, what I needed to do, and everything that was going on with Gordon. I saw some comments on here about prices being too high but I thought it was well worth the money (and it wasnt too high in my opinion). It is very evident they know what they are doing and they care about their job!
