If I could actually give negative stars on most of the nurses and doctors here in the ICU, I would. This unit has the most rudest, cruel and unforgiving nurses that I have ever encountered in a hospital; This ICU is horrendous!! Especially, a couple of nurses but one in particular a nurse called, Ariedete. This nurse shouldnt even be a nurse. She has no bedside manners what so ever and doesnt know how to treat the family members of her patients; That are just worried for their loved one. She is so mean and heartless that I really dont know how she is a nurse, perhaps it is because she gets her kicks out of peoples pains. I have nothing good to say about this nurse and her little entourage. All I hope is that she learns to be compassionate and realize that she is not dealing with animals but human beings. May you all never have to experience the horrible treatment you put your patients family members through. The director of this unit Devon, I could tell by this lady actions that she apparently has never had a loved one in ICU . She also isnt very fair because I have been in the ICU for over a week and I wasnt allowed to stay overnight. But I see everyone else inside the rooms with there family staying overnight. Not once have I heard or seen them say or treat the others here with the same bitterness that they have treated my family and I. But how could I have possibly thought that I would get any better treatment from this lady when after all she is the one who hired that nurse that has no business being around people much less sick ones. Although, I would never recommend this hospital because of the ICU here but there was a few nurses that truly were the best and just wonderful. For example: Luke , Robert , Samantha and Ruth. I thank these beautiful and wonderful nurses! I just would love to give them a big thank you!! For helping us out and not giving us more pain and sadness. I would also love to give a big thank you to: Miriam B . I adored Miriam, she was so kind and caring that just by talking to her she made me feel a bit of peace. Not only did she try to help me out with my situation, but she also asked how was my loved one and that she hopes he gets better. Thank you so much Miriam for being such a wonderful person . There is not many of those left in this world. So I am giving the nurses here with there evil director guiding them in this hospital in the ICU 5 negative, you get what you reap stars!

Dont waste your time and money going there! If I could, I would give negative stars to this place. On February 15 2017 I walked in to the emergency room at Mercy. I had hit my leg a few days before and had fading bruising and a persistent edema. I wanted the edema to be drained and to make sure the bone in my leg had no fracture. I had NO pain. I was checked in, vitals etc taken and then the physician assistant came in and ordered an ultrasound of my leg and ex-rays. When I went to the x-ray room she had written down that I needed x-rays of my KNEE!!! I told the technician: it is not my knee, it is my lower leg as you can see. The technician said: I still have to confirm with her. After that I waited a long time for the results at which point the physician assistant came to my room while discussing my case with the attending physician. He proposed to do an MRI of my leg. Then I asked her about the x-ray and ultrasound results: "is there a bone fracture? She said: no. Is my vein function normal as per the ultrasound? She said: your vein function is normal." At that point I told her that given the results of the tests and the fact that I had no pain, I didnt think an MRI was necessary and asked her to drain my edema. She said no without the MRI. Then I checked myself out. She said that it was not recommended and I signed a waiver saying that I would take responsibility for it. Now, the cherry on top of the cake! She then gave me a name of a doctor to follow up. I called the Drs office and his assistance said the following: This doctor primarily sees cancer patients you should see Dr. X. I am sure that the doctor who sees cancer patients could drain my edema but can you notice the overall poor quality in service? From wrong parts to be x-rayed to the wrong doctor to unnecessary test and to blatantly not draining my edema! In sound mind, I will never go back there. I should mention that I have excellent insurance coverage which might explain their need for one extra super expensive test.

This place should be investigated for fraud and illegal practices. Let me put things in perspective for those of you who dont know how the healthcare system works. Mercy hospital is owned by HCA corporation. That shifts the entire mission statement of the organization from one that is patient centered to one that is completely 100% for profit. In other words, the employees there are just there to get a check and go home. They dehumanize you the instant you put that wrist band on and you become nothing more than a gateway for them to bill for care they do not render. The staff lacks the incentive to be competent and the skills to care for people in any other facility in South FL. They undergo the least amount of training and hire the highest amount of new nurses who otherwise would struggle to find a job elsewhere due to their lack of experience. From the physicians who will order extra tests, procedures, and consults on patients that they spend less than 1 minute looking over to their charting system that doesnt flag allergies or duplicate medication orders (1980 version F1, F2 screens Meditech) to the charge nurses and upper management who will lie to your face in order to cover up for the doctors, this place reeks of fraud. Youre more likely to have a prolonged stay and get a serious blood infection from one of the incompetent nurses than you are to receive proper treatment here. I wouldnt let any family or friends go to this hospital and I hope I have conveyed my message to you as well. Dont let them lure you in with their bay views, it may very well be the last thing you see.

After some research I found that the most expensive Cat scan in all of SOuth East Florida cost $1350.00...Mercy Emergency Care Charged $13,500.00, Yeah...(total bill was $24,000 for a 8 stiches on my hand, xray of the hand, 6 pictures of the cat scan. I tried telling them some went wrong in the billing, but theres something fishy because they just tell me I had to call a department that was very far away. I didnt I have insurance, no, but the question is why do you think you can charge a years worth of income for something couldve been a dealt by any daytime clinic for under $1500. Thats what insurance is for....So the hospital CAN afford to charge that much. Other things like, They had only one doctor serving the entire emergency room that night. I went there because it said they had no wait time. it was a god dam Saturday night and they only had one doctor? I didnt wait in the waiting room very long, but i waited in the patient room for hours. I wanted to refuse the cat scans, but the nurses scared me into getting it...She said it wasnt going to be a big deal on the payments and used a great scare tactic to get me to do. I had fall from a scooter, but i didnt have any signs to show that would say I would need a CT scan. ANYWAYS, after waiting for the DOC for 3 hrs to ask him I needed I just did it- he came in immediatly after the results...Everything was normal. Bastards gave me an unreasonable dept. Oh, and then they reduced it...$16,000. yeah, great...How about get real and drop a ZERO.
