First, I want to start out by saying I am a Physician. Normally, would not make such a statement as I do not think I should be treated differently or any such thing. I am only making that remark on behalf of me writing this review. I also was not going to write this review at all because I do not like to talk about other professionals in this manner however I feel that my experience renders some kind of complaint and then after speaking with a close friend of mine whom is also my physician intern and neighbor. We both brought our pets to this facility at different times and the experience was absolutely ghastly. I had a female cat that was injured by a vehicle in front of my house. Long story short I had her rescued and treated and she became mine. Found out 2 weeks later she was also pregnant and opted on not having her spayed until after she gave birth. While I was working she decided to have kittens so my fiance took her to the only vet that unfortunately was open because he said "I think she has a stillborn kitten attached to her". Long story short. She had a prolapsed uterus. The treatment was horribly before and after I arrived to this clinic. I saw the vet (she was blonde) all of maybe 1 minute and she ran out the door to "come up with my plan" which was a bill for nearly $3000.00 and quickly said the only other option was to have her put to sleep. Yes, they really told me this. By this time, my kitty had been there for 4 hours with no fluids, no treatment or anything. After the care I received and after I realized what this place is truly about I opted to not give them my money and take her to my own vet who was opening in 4 hours. Let me first say, yes I did have the money, yes I would and have many times in the past forked out thousands on my pets but when I realized that this place was really that greedy I had no respect and did not trust my pet to have any surgery by that woman or any of the people in there. Now mind you, being a physician I had enough knowledge to know the status of my cat and that my only option was NOT to have her euthanized These people should be ashamed of theirselves and I can only imagine how many healthy animals that have been put to sleep under their direction. It is actually disgusting to really think about it. She actually went to my regular vet that morning (4 hours later) and had surgery for 150 dollars. Yes, the bill went from 3000 dollar or she needs to be euthanized to $150 and she went home with me that day. This place really should be shut down. So, NO we has (your patients owners) do not request a free bill. Most of us understand that you do not work for free. We understand it cost money to run a business. We understand you are an emergency vet and that you will be expectantly higher. However, we understand from the moment we walk in the door what kind of business you are. You can say in your own reviews that your treatments are relatively the same price as any other Vet. However, what everyone needs to realize is how they approach their "treatment plan". When you cant tell me anything about my sick pet but you recommend doing a test that has absolutely nothing to do with treating my pet instead of trying to find out what is wrong with my pet. Or you do not even examine my pet but yet you want to immediately do an xray. Most of us obviously do not come to you as a normal caretaker for our pets so no we do not want you to run all kinds of tests that are not necessary for that visit. I will quit complaining but after speaking to my friend about her visit I am absolutely disgusted with that clinic. One day the wrong person will come along and sue this company and maybe they will think twice about how they treat their clients and I can only imagine how many they have euthanized. Had I not been a physician and had knowledge in this regard I would not be sitting here writing this with my kitty in my lap.

Im shocked at all the one-star reviews for VERC. We just took our 14-year-old dog there when he started exhibiting symptoms of a seizure or stroke with absolutely no advance warning or signs. The care we and our dog received was incredible, from the ladies at the front desk to the vet tech who monitored our dog overnight to the veterinarian who oversaw his care. Dr. Eyles was very compassionate, thorough, and professional as he explained the possible diagnoses and prognosis before we made a decision on how to proceed. Yes, the cost for all of the tests, medications, treatment, and overnight hospitalization was high, but to be honest, when you consider that if a human went to the ER for similar treatment, it would cost 4-5x as much easily, so it wasnt an unreasonable cost, in my opinion. Check their costs for lab work versus what you pay the hospital next time. Its the same thing, but people get ripped off by the insurance industry. Anyway, because our dog has had some slowly progressing nerve issues recently, and what was going on could be connected to that, we knew it was possible that euthanasia was the right choice. The vet discussed this with us, mentioning considerations of quality of life for our dog, along with also giving us the other treatment options if we decided to proceed in that direction. Ultimately, we decided to try the treatment and choke on the cost, but our dog is now back home with us. I guess its all a personal matter of how much youre willing to pay for treatment for a family member, whether human or animal. It turned out that the results of all of our dogs blood work were excellent for his age, and Dr. Eyles suspicion about what the cause might have been was probably spot on. If we werent willing to go through with treatment, we might put down an otherwise relatively healthy dog due to a possible one-time episode. Our "Old Man" is now home, hanging out like he always did, and could possibly be with us another year or two. My parents have used VERC in the past with a rescue dog they adopted who had a number of health issues, and they were also very pleased with the service they received. I would gladly take either of my dogs here again if necessary.

I got home from work one day to notice that my cat had not ate all day, I kept an eye on him for a little bit and saw that he was having trouble breathing I looked up vets that were still open at that time of night and this is the one I found. We brought him in and told him the symptoms and they came up with a plan of action which included a chest x-ray and was a total cost of $444.00. I told them to do what they needed to do because he was my baby and I just wanted him to feel better. After the chest X-ray they brought me out to look at it. While looking at it I asked if the shadow was his heart and the vet said " yes and it looks great" and there was no problems with his lungs or limbs. We went back into the room and he said he thought he had a blocked bladder but was able to release it, because I told him he had a history of this in the past. I also asked if he had a fever and he said no that his temp was low. They didnt give him any medication and sent us home. The next morning he was eating a little bit so I thought he was doing better. The following day he couldnt breathe at all and was crying out in pain, I grabbed him and the x-ray from the other night and rushed him to his regular vet. They took and look at the x-ray and then had 4 other vets look at it and all came back with the same DX they said he had an enlarged heart and it was plain as day. And she said he had no fever and it was low, I told her that is what the other vet said, she then said that was a sign of heart problems. They said there was nothing we could do and he was suffering so we had to put him down. I know if they had gotten the DX correct from the visit at this place it wouldnt have made a difference things would have ended up the same but we might have been able to put him down to end his suffering. All they were worried about was getting there money from me and sending me on the way. When I took him to his vet they didnt even charge me an office fee, they just wanted to do what they could do to help me and him. Please do not take your animals to this place they dont care.
