We have been taking our guinea pig to this animal hospital for 4 years- every 3 months for a nail trim, and annually for an overall check up. Each year, we have received the same feedback of "your guinea pig is ok, but he is old". Frustrating to hear, but since our pig was ok, we brushed off the negativity. However, in April this year it was observed that our pig has a cyst / tumor on its stomach. The vet did not elaborate on it but prescribed antibiotics and sent us on our way. The antibiotics worked well for a while so in July, we took the pig to Georgia to accompany my ill mother for a few weeks. Unfortunately, during that time, he bit into his tumor and was bleeding. We called Brandon Lakes Animal Hospital and asked what to do and all they could say was "we need to bring him in". Being that he was in another state that was not possible. Therefore we went to Brandon Lakes Hospital in person and showed a picture of the wound and they still wouldnt recommend anything. **Even a doctor for a human, would suggest something like a compression to help control bleeding**. Therefore, being that my mother was unable to get to a vet due to her own illness, we drove all the way to Georgia that evening to care for our pig. Luckily a neighbor helped my mom and pig until our arrival and we brought our pig back to Florida. All was well for a few weeks until he bit into the tumor / cyst again. This time, we called Brandon Lakes again and they said they would call me right back. Needless to say, 2 weeks later Im still waiting for that return call! Fortunately, we found another animal hospital that cares for exotics/ small pocket pets and are amazing! Not only did they get us in right away, they offered long term options and helped with short term solutions. Once again, our pig is doing great! As a result we are done with Brandon Lakes Animal hospital and recommend anyone else with exotic animals to be cautious.

There are not enough good things to say about Dr Woodside and his staff at Brandon Lakes Animal Hospital!! We had a life threatening emergency with our cat a few months ago. Our first trip for treatment was to an after hours place that immediately started throwing money figures down our throats and never told us what was wrong or making our cat so sick. We were basically turned away because we didnt have a few thousand dollars lying around and told to take our kitty home where he was sure to pass away within a few hours. Fortunately a friend recommended I go see Dr Woodside at BLAH in the morning. I called when the office opened and we were seen immediately. The level of care and compassion was tremendous. Dr Woodside not only educated us on what was wrong with our kitty (completely blocked urethra) but also explained why it may happen, what to expect step by step with his treatment, and also set our expectations as to our kittys outcome. The care wasnt about collecting cost, it was genuine and sincere and in the time of need, it was very comforting. His staff was wonderful in helping us arrange a means to pay for the treatment. My family cant say thank you enough!! We will continue using Dr Woodside. You cannot ask for a better vet that truly puts your pets care first!

I brought my cat in very sick, and under Dr. Woodsides care, my cat got fattly liver disease, became jaundiced and would have died if I hadnt taken her to a different vet. This place is far from a hospital, because most of the time there is no vet at this location. In fact, the day after I brought my cat in, she became more sick and the staff tried for hours to get ahold of him on his cell phone. This guy is a poor excuse for a vet, he doesnt care about your pet, all he cares about is money and he will tell you anything to make a few extra bucks off of you. I paid this guy $500 just for him to tell me he has no idea whats wrong with my cat, its probably cancer (which it wasnt) and theres not much we can do unless I have an unlimited budget. My cat was on her deathbed and it was even hassled me about getting her records to take her to another vet. He was very offended when I did take her somewhere else, but guess what, they diagnosed her properly and she is now doing great. He has very poor bedside manner and talks over your head because he doesnt know what hes talking about. I could go on and on about all of the things he did wrong. If you want a vet who actually cares, go somewhere else; I recommend The Cat Doctor in Tampa. They actually care about your pet.

I have mainly had the pleasure of working with Dr. Heppner and she is a complete sweetheart! I had to get my corgi fixed and was concerned about price so I was going to have her spayed at a low cost clinic. Dr. Heppner understood my case and went above and beyond to talk with Dr. Woodside on working out a payment plan and discount so that my dog could get the best treatment in Brandon, even though I had recently moved and only been seeing them for a couple months. Yes, I did pay more but was it worth it? Of course! My puppy was obviously very tired and unlike her playful self when I picked her up post surgery but by the next day she was back to being her spunky, bubbly her! Very grateful for the care and expertise this hospital has to offer and their services are always wonderful. It is always great to have the same vet tech and doctor for each appointment as well so my Bella is always excited to visit the vet. For every service they print out a list of all the charges and have you sign before proceeding with the service. If you have any questions, ask! I have always had my questions answered without any negative attitude. Please consider this establishment, it is worth every penny!

Please dont listen to Flip. He is so far off from what is true and correct. I have know Dr Woodside for many years as my vet and also my friend, thats the kind of man he is. all my friends know him, take their pets to him and love him. He is knowledgeable and all in all the best vet in town. He has kept my dogs in great health all the way to when I lost them to cancer at late ages. Dr Woodside kept my lab from having pain due to his hip displaisia and a 95 lb lab lived past 13 until cancer. Doc also kept my dobie in great health until she was almost 14. those ages are sometimes unheard of with those breeds. He now has my border collie in excellent health and she loves doc too. On top of being a very good doctor his facility is state of the art which has everything you would ever need for your pets best care. Any one who could write a bad review on Dr Woodside has no clue what they are talking about.
