I came in to see Doctor Holder on August 30th, 2007 about abdomen pain and dysfunctional uterine bleeding and with very dark discharges of blood. Before she even examines me she demised my issue as Menopause. She ordered an untrasound that I later found out was completely botched. Because, ten days later I found my self in the E.R. on September 10th, 2007 with acute abdomal pain and a cat scan was ordered, witch found fluid in the fallopian tubes, cysts on the ovaries, spots on my liver and Diverticulosis. So the E.R. Dept. decided to do the ultra sound over and found that my right side fallopian tube was bulging and also another Fibroid Tumor was found. I was sent home with pain meds and told to follow up with Dr. Holder my OBGYN. On September 13th, 2007 she was all happy, told me that I had caught whatever was wrong early and that she wanted me on strong Antibiotics to head off the unknown infection before I end up with a bad fever and chills. Than she ordered more blood work and cultures. She told me at that time that she did not expect to find an infection yet, that this was an evolving situation. Come back in 7 days she says, I get there this morning at 10:30 am and her office tried to tell me that I did not have an appointment, so I produced the appt. card they gave me. Right off the Doctor does her complimentary pelvis examine and proceeds to tell me that she can not find any thing wrong with me, that my labs are normal and that I need to see my Primary Physician that she thought that my problem was Gastroenteritis and that I needed a colonoscopy because she felt I had blockage than told me to get dress and in so many words to leave that she can not do any thing for me. I asked what about the Fallopian Tubes and the Fibroid Tumor (no test had been made make sure it is benign) She rattled off something about not knowing when they were injured and closed up and that she has done all she could do with the Antibiotics. *The same Antibiotics to head off the unknown infection before I end up with a bad fever and chills.* If for some reason she did not want to treat me, I could live with that, personality conflicts can happen. The professional thing to do is to refer me to someone qualified and willing to resolve this medical issue. Fix what is causing the pain so I can return to work. That’s all I wanted and I will seek a second opinion and if needed contact the DIVISION OF MEDICAL QUALITY ASSURANCE. Follow up, 07:15 PM (same day) Doctors office just called and now they want me to get a GI (without refering a Doctor) and come back for a pelvic examine and MRI in 4 to 6 weeks. I will have lost my job by than, no job, no insurance... Guess what Doc, no blockage! Did you really think the E.R. Dept. would have let me go home if I was blocked? Ever heard of Endometrial Biopsy and Endocervical Cuttettage Procedures Doctor? I willl keep you posted on the results. Good news is it is non-cancerous. Bad news is that they found polyps inside the uterus. With everything else mention above the only practical treatment is a full Hysterectomy that is scheduled for Oct. 29th 2007 at the Winter Park Hospital. Had Dr. Sarah Holder done her job I would probably be having surgery close to home at instead of having to inconvenience my whole family by them having to drive close to 60 miles one way. Possibly even be close to full recovery by now. By the way fluid in the fallopian tubes can not be treated by Antibiotics; they have to ether be repaired or removed. It is extremely painful, like an Atopic pregnancy. If you feel you might have a serious health issue, I recommend that you seek another OBGYN. UPDATE: November 3, 2007…Surgery was a success, I am at home on my way to a full recovery, the fluid in the fallopian tubes was blood, no one understands why and both were fully distended at the time of the surgery. I feel fortunate that one did not burst while I was driving to and from work. They say you will pass out from the pain and I could have easily killed some one in an auto accident.

She cracked jokes during my exam about my vagina. I guess thats supposed to make me more comfortable? Also, she KNEW it was my first exam/pap smear, and she totally failed to mention that there are lab fees. No, this is NOT common knowledge. I got a pleasant surprise from the lab with an invoice of $156. When I brought this up to Dr. Holder, she just apologized nonchalantly and kept going with what she was doing. I never knew about or agreed to pay that fee, and now Im stuck with it and she doesnt care. She doesnt know the cost of anything involving her field. I ask her how much something will cost and she just kinda shrugs and guesses and turns out to always be WAY off. Once, she prescribed me FIVE pills, and I asked her in advance approximately how much it would cost, and she says, "Shouldnt be much; its only a few pills." Yeah, it turned out to be almost $12. After my first visit she told me to come back for a $50 ultrasound. I arrived for the ultrasound and was told to pay $75. I said that I was told $50, and so they went with that. After getting my blood pressure tested and weight measured and after waiting for an HOUR, I was seated in the doctors office and then waited some more. Then, a woman comes in and asks me what Im there for. I told her an ultrasound, and the nurse came back even later saying that they dont do ultrasounds. I was so frustrated, and asked the doctor what I paid $50 for. She just said, "I dont know." I paid with a credit card and it took literally about 15 minutes for them to figure out how to cancel the transaction. They had to call someone else for step-by-step instructions. Then the nurse told me to go to an ultrasound clinic in Lake Mary. I asked how much itd cost and found out itd be $200. Then the doctor asked me if I wanted them to make an appointment for an ultrasound for me, and I said no. She asked why, and I told her how much it costs, and she just looked so surprised as if she had no idea... Lately Ive been having questions about the birth control I was prescribed, so Id call them and ask for the nurse or doctor to call me back since theyd be unavailable. No one ever called me back. And no ones of any help. I swear the nurse knows more than the doctor does. I could go on, but basically, I have a lot of complaints about Dr. Holder. She doesnt know what shes talking about and she really doesnt care about the client as a PERSON. Its just all about making money for her.

This review is years late....but I also had a terribly backward experience at her office that I have NEVER experienced in my whole life of going to obgyns and Im in my mid thirties. Im pretty sure IF this was "normal " protocol, I would have experienced similar things with the multiple other doctors Ive been to in my life. First thing is, she took me into her own personal office right off the bat to speak to me and "get to know me", now...im here for a simple damn exam, we dont need to talk like Im in the principles office at school or doing a damn Interview, Im sorry. Very awkward start.. Next she had her office staff take a Polaroid of my face- for "her records because she likes to keep track of ppl"...um ok. Awkward #2. Then I kid u not. During my pelvich exam, WITHOUT fair warning, quicker than i had time to think, she stuck a finger in my anus. Yes , u read that right. And told me this was totally normal protocal afterward. Ummm, first of all. Woman do not get this done at every exam. And if this is so called normal u should be warning your patients well before. A quick "And noooow ull feel some pressure " And a quick slip of a finger in someones @$$ who isnt expecting it..i felt totally uncomfortable and violated actually.. Odd and unprofessional practices. NEVER went back. Never will. Same yourself the cramp and go to someone else.
