I have been a patient at Tallahassee Eye Center (Dr. Susan Whaley) for more than 10 years. I have *never* had anything but a positive experience there. The staff, especially Dr. Whaley, is caring and easy to talk to, not to mention very knowledgeable. They are happy to explain everything they are doing and to show you the fascinating results of the tests they run in house (ever seen your pictures of your own retinae? Its cool). They also are extremely well-equipped and are very much a one-stop shop. More important than the excellent "chairside" manner, however, is the fact that all the staff clearly, genuinely care about the patients. They explain how lifestyle plays an important part in eye health and display an interest in treating the whole patient, not just your eyeballs. This practice is anything but an assembly line operation. I, myself, have some minor issues with my eyes, and I always feel that Dr. Whaley is a partner, not a dictator, in decisions regarding monitoring and treatment. Simply put, you cant go wrong at Tallahassee Eye Center.

My mother recommended Dr. Whaley after my sons eye condition worsened. We had an exam done less than three weeks before but after my mother’s recommendation I felt it would be worth it to get a second opinion and I am very glad I did. Dr. Whaley caught something the Dr. from three weeks ago did not; she also discovered the glasses were not properly fitted. The assistant kindly readjusted his current pair of glasses at no cost, my son was very grateful; saying that they felt much better. Our experience with the Tallahassee Eye Center and the associates there has been an amazing experience; I do not believe I have ever received better customer service. I would recommend the Tallahassee Eye Center to anyone and everyone looking for above average customer service, the staff was informative and knowledgeable. If I would have not taken my mother’s recommendation my son would still be seeing double, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Blessed with good eye-sight, it wasnt until I was 50 that I sought out an eye examination with another local business. While there, I felt like I had been placed on a conveyor belt toward my inevitable eyeglass purchase. Needless to say, and much to their chagrin, I left WITHOUT the glasses they were forcing down my throat! Then I met Dr. Strickland at Tallahassee Eye Center. The experience was entirely opposite! She made me completely comfortable, encouraged my questions, and explained everything she was doing throughout the process. I was impressed by her passion, and really felt a new understanding of my choices. Take my advice - Ignore where your insurance funnels you, and go where you will receive the best care! - Tallahassee Eye Center.

When I came to Tallahassee back in 2001, I had problems with blind spots developing in my left eye over the Labor Day weekend. My wife suggested I call Dr. Whaley. I was hesitant because it was a holiday weekend and I was not yet her patient, but I was also desperate. Dr. Whaley agreed to see me and gave me a comprehensive exam that Sunday. She also gave me her home number in case of an emergency - which I had to use because I experienced deterioration in my vision the next day. Fortunately, my problems were treated with medication. But I knew I had found a health care provider who cared about my welfare before I was even her patient. My family and I have been loyal patients ever since.

I have been going to Tallahassee Eye Center for several years. I have seen Dr. Whaley a few times, but Dr. Mechler is my regular eye doctor. Not only has she handled normal eye exams and resulting changes in my glasses prescription, but she has diagnosed things such as cataracts and hemorrhages in my macular (diabetic retinopathy). She catches the problem and then does not hesitate to refer me to the expert that will correct the issue. I have not met an employee at Tallahassee Eye Center that was not friendly and professional, from the doctors, their assistants (Gail) to the clerical staff up front. The opticians that have filled my prescriptions are awesome, too.

Last Christmas, I ended up with a bad case of viral pink eye in my good eye, my other eyes retina was severely damaged in a fishing accident years ago. I called seeking medicine for my eye, as the conditions were getting worse. The Doctors were great, they took my call, asked for me to call them with updates and even offered to meet me in the office should it get worse. All this on Christmas day! Aside from a brief time away from this office due to needing specialized retinal care, I have been a patient of theirs for years and will continue to be so. My wife and kids also go as we would not go anywhere else. I highly recommend!

Top rate in my book. Amanda helped me select some sunglasses today and I was astounded at her knowledge of not only their own inventory but what else is available. She was able to easily answer all of my questions as well as make recommendations, yet I never felt pressured. I have been out of the office not ten minutes and already recommended them to someone else. They have a very nice selection in stock comparable to the size of the office, and carry Kate Spade, Vera Bradley, etc. frames. I also got contacts and they had them in stock which was very convenient.

My wife and I both visited Tallahassee Eyecare over the summer and were both very pleased. The special attention that was given made our visit more relaxing and fulfilling. The doctor I spoke with was very professional and personable. During my whole procedure she kept my comfortable. The small talk made us realized we were both military brats. Anyone who was raised in a military family knows what that means. And her husband was a veteran also. So in closing great experience and great staff. This will be my eye care facility for life. Most comprehensive eye exam Ive ever had, everyone involved was a pleasure to speak with, and they explained everything they were doing in great detail. Additionally they used some awesome computer modeling to measure my face so they could pre-adjust my frames very accurately; when I went to pick them up they fit me nearly perfectly without any adjustment on my part! Keep in mind youre appointment may take up to 2 hours because of their thoroughness, so plan accordingly.

My husband & I have been seeing Dr. Mechler for several years and have started bringing our daughter for annual check-ups last year. The whole staff is incredibly cheerful and helpful. They were very kind and patient towards my 4 year old daughter, even when she was less than cooperative. It was a such a great experience that my daughter has been pretending to be an eye doctor since the visit. This is a very family friendly doctors office.

Excellent, professional and thorough! You will not be disappointed with the care you will receive from Tallahassee Eye Center. After going to the designated eye care center that my insurance required me to go to and realized that there wasnt any eye care going on, just a numbers game, I found Dr. Whaley and have not looked back. Cant say enough of how I am impressed with Dr. Whaley and the entire Tallahassee Eye Center Staff!

The Ladies at the Tallahassee Eye Center, were incredible! They did an amazing job at helping me find the exact right type of contacts for me. I would make a side comment about something having to do with my contacts and Dr Strickland was quick to explain to me what was going on. She explained everything fully and answered all my questions! I was extremely appreciative of everyone there! I highly recommend going there !
