New dentist as of my most recent visit. June 2012. I had scheduled a cleaning as i do every six months. I book a morning appt so that i can arrive, be seen and get out to work as soon as possible. I arrived, checked in was called back to the hygenist office. The hygenist is very sweet, informative and good to ask questions if you have any. I was soon informaed that after my cleaning she would call the doctor in for my exam, of which i had no knowledge of nor was i told upon check in. I explained to the nurse that i am in a time crunch and had only scheduled a cleaning because of this reason. In addition I explained I am in the early months of pregnancy and havent done enough research to be confortable with X-rays. For these reasons i would like to skip the exam but if it is absolutely necessary i would agree to a visual inspection as I would feel more comfortable with that. Upon the Doctor enetering the exam room i was told "I hear you would rather do a visual inspection, and if that is the case there is no point in doing an exam at all because without X-rays only half the surfaces can be seen and it wouldnt be worth it." I explained my reasons again to him and he then explained that I have a letter from my doctor approving me for such x-rays. In response i explained that the form he is referring to is a generic form and yes it may say that I am "approved" but isnt it a personal choice as I was unaware i had an exam and i have not been able to ask around and do research on whether i wish to have x-rays done at this stage of pregnancy. His strongly stated and condecending tone response was then,"With my experience and my education I know its safe and without x-rays we can miss problem areas and since that is how your history of issues were found in the past it would be best if we do x-rays." Basically there was no regard for my opinion or feelings on the matter. This is my irst pregnancy and regardless of if it was my tenth the lack of professionalism and concern for my opinion on the matter was heartbreaking as reluctantly (which i am not proud of) allowed the x-rays even though it was something i was not confortable with. I understand there are two sides to every story and this is my version but if you are comfortable with being pressured into things becuase "he is educated and experienced" then so be it but i upon leaving felt pressuring as if i had just left a used car lot. I can not say that i will be returning to this office. -- From the office response below it seems they have proven my point. They "hope" .... "We hope you don’t feel like we disregarded your opinion just know Doctor and staff are only doing their job to the fullest to ensure your health. I do not doubt that there are health benefits to an exam with Xrays but the direct disregard for my personal opinion as the patient is apparent here. For the dentist to come in the room with the Xrays and state "Its just another human growing inside you, its not that big of a deal" shows how little concern for patients there actually is and more of a regard for their financial medical claims to my health insurance company for an exam. To further prove my point My husband went in four months ago for a cleaning and was also not told of an "exam" he was in for until in the chair... three months later he was called to confirm his next cleaning and I then had to confirm that there would be no exam. I was then told yes he in fact will have an exam, I explained that this would not be happenening and that he was not scheduled for it nor was he in need of it because if they checked his chart he just had an exam three months prior. I find it hard to believe that both my husband and myself could be "accidently" scheduled and not told of these three exams until in the chair or until we knew better to ask. It seems financially beneficial to the dentist office to "schedule" these exams when a patient is only expecting a cleaning.

I was recommended to do a removable tooth inlay which i was told that my insurance will pick up half the cost. I found out that my insurance after speaking with them have denied the claim. Mentioned that the dentist should have send in the claim for approval before they did the work and if they have chosen a different procedure the insurance company would have covered. it. I call the office, after paying my share which was half of the cost and they didnt want to discount or waive any of the remainder balance, although they havent called me to let me know that the insurance has denied to pay for the work. When I mentioned to the office manager that it is their recommendations that the patient goes by and the patience wouldnt have a way to know the exacts of the trade...And they should have submitted the procedure and got the approval before we did the work? If they are in doubt.... The answer I got that they get a phone approval then the insurance decided if the claim is payable or not? So I guess a patient has to roll the dice and wait for the result. It is all about making a buck, I guess some business dont live up to their names and fair practice. If it werent for there assurance that Ill only pay half; I wouldnt done the procedure. Unfortunately, I couldnt resolve it with them. I had to pay for something that was poorly made and useless. Along many visits that I had to make back there to recement a crown that kept on coming off. I wouldnt recomend this pratice to any of my friends or family nor will I ever be using them again. Please note that if you have dental insurance all their special are rendered useless. Dont fall into that trap. Thats a friendly warning!!!!

THE most unpleasant experience Ive ever had at a dentists office. I went in for a simple cleaning and left very upset and in a lot of pain. From the moment the hygienist asked if I flossed, the appointment just went downhill from there. She spent the entire cleaning going on and on, reprimanding me like a child for not flossing daily. Literally just repeating the same things over and over. She was very rough with the cleaning to the point that every time she toughed my gum I flinched in pain. She kept telling me that my gums were only bleeding and hurting because I dont floss more often. Then handed me a mirror and made me watch her stab at my gums more to prove that it made them bleed! She then decided that there was a filing, which was done by a previous dentist, that she wanted to try to fix with some sandpaper-like floss. She started scraping away (at one point not even on the same tooth!), her hand slipped and she cut me across the cheek with it, enough to draw a little blood. Not even so much as a mention that it happened, let alone an apology. Just continued telling me about my bad flossing habits. I called to talked to the office manager after my appointment. She was very apologetic about my bad experience and guaranteed me that the appropriate people would be informed about the situation. However, I was told that this lady is their permanent hygienist, so I will not be returning to this office again. Which is a shame, since everyone else I dealt with was very pleasant and helpful but unfortunately none of that outweighs my 30 or so minutes of extreme pain and being talked down to.
