I have used Dr. Catherine Cowart for two separate surgeries. One in 2007 & one this year - 2014. The most recent were a Laparotomy & Hysteroscopy. From my experiences with Dr. Cowart, I believe that she is a smart, skilled and detailed doctor who cares for her patients and the work that she performs. She took the time to educate myself and my husband on the plans for each surgery. I felt that her staff did what they could to schedule me as soon as possible - within a week. I explained to the staff that I had pain and went for an ultrasound that showed a large mass. (It was possibly a pedunculated fibroid.) After my exams etc, we were able to schedule my surgery at St. Josephs hospital in Tampa within about a month. Prior to surgery, she visited with myself, my mom and my husband. After the surgery, she spoke to my mom and husband to give them a brief explanation of what she had found which was a 16 x 10.5 x 10 cm pedunculated fibroid as predicted. It was also wrapped up in my colon so she had consulted with another doctor who specialized in that area. After removing the big fibroid, she also went into the uterine cavity to remove about 4 smaller fibroids. (Her attitude is - if you are already doing surgery--you mind as well get them all out. I agree.) I stayed over night for observation at St. Josephs womens hospital. Very nice facility and staff. At my two week follow-up appointment, she was very thorough and made sure to explain with photos all that she had found. She also explained what I should expect to feel from the incision area. The incision was cut horizontally just below the swim suit line and about 5 1/2 inches long. Dr. Cowart is concerned for her patients and wants them to have a great result. She is not quick to do a Hysterectomy which is impressive and important to me. My surgery was about 7 months ago. All is healing up as she had described. I would recommend Dr. Catherine Cowart for her skills and expertise in a heart beat!

I had been put on hormone cream from another Dr. that didnt take insurance because I was desperate for answers since my hair was fallling out, I was gaining weight rapidly and I was only sleeping 2 or 3 hours a night. I was recommended to her, and as soon as I told her I was on hormone replacement cream, she rolled her eyes and began to criticize me and the Dr. that prescribed it since I am still a young menstruating woman. She even told everyone at the front desk about it in front of me! Her resolution was to throw me back on birth control! No thank you, why should I take something that gave me a ton of side effects and only fixed one problem? She wasted my time with doing blood work all the time but never prescribed me the hormone cream and never helped me with my problem. She bragged that she had been in the business for 30 years but yet never actually helped me, just used me as a guinea pig to see how hormone cream affected me. Here 8 months later, Im still suffering from weight gain etc and thanks to the Dr. that she criticized, he found my high prolactin level which may be the reason why my hormones are out of whack and cortisol is low and why I cant lose weight. Im still suffering and still finding new pieces to the puzzle that SHE didnt find and refused to help. If you want to be criticized in front of the whole office, then yea, go see her. Other than that stay away!

I am very meticulous about things, and this office has been more phenomenal in helping me than words can express. The office is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Dr. Cowart is very knowledgeable and explains things in everyday language/terms that help you understand your options and percentage of success. I am more than satisfied with the way everything has been handled with my treatment. I LOVE this office--Dr. Cowart, and all the staff. Lorri, Cristina, Cynthia, Dowdy, Laurel....they all treat me like family. When you are dealing with the ups and downs of infertility, it is imperative that the office, in all aspects, is caring, compassionate, and that you feel like you are the most important patient. I feel that way as a patient of this office. THANKS!!!!! On the comments of the wait time...only good things come to those who wait....I can tell you that IF you wait, you get the same time spent with you as the other person. Dr. Cowart is more concerned with making sure that you have what you need to make an informed decision, and not with the time she needs to leave, etc. If I had to choose again...I would choose this office..hands down!!!!

My wife has been seeing Dr. Cowart for over a year now and she is absolutely wonderful. I love how she cuts right to the chase and doesnt tell us what we want to hear but what it really is. I also love how she really wants to know you on a personal level and you to know her. It is very easy to get her talking and to open up. I trust Dr. Cowart with mine and my wifes life. She came highly regarded and I can see why. If you are looking for someone who is going to sugar coat stuff and cater to your overly sensitive feelings she is not for you. If you want real treatment, be treated like an adult, told what it is and what it isnt and will get to the bottom of the issue as long as you are a willing participant then she is the best there is.

I was a patient of Dr. Cowart’s for almost 4 years. I that time I found her to be very honest. Some may not like this because she does not sugarcoat the truth. She told me from the get-go that my chances of conceiving and maintaining a pregnancy would be difficult. I came to her as a patient with advance maternal age. I had three miscarriages during our journey together and was about to give up. I went back to Dr. Cowart and she encouraged me (based on my conception rate) to try one more time. I am now the mother of a beautiful 10-month baby. No other in doctor in tow would let me use my own eggs after 43!

I have been a patient of Dr. Cowarts for several years and have had a surgery with her. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone. She is very competent, thorough and professional. My health issues were resolved and I feel that she is very attentive to my concerns. I have worked in the medical field in Ohio for 30 years, and have an extensive exposure to medical practices, so I know what is good, bad or ugly in the medical arena. It was pure luck that I became a patient of Dr. Cowart upon my relocation to Tampa in 2005.

Frequent Diner

Dr. Cowart is both my gynecologist and my daughters. She has a direct approach which I very much appreciate. She will persevere until she has exhausted all options. She was able to find an issue my 27 year old daughter had been suffering from since she was 17. Every other gynecologist missed the problem. She has given my daughter the quality of life back that she deserves. I only wish there were more doctors out there like her. Thank you for all you do and know you are appreciated!
