If I could give 0 stars, I would. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO GO TO AN URGENT CARE OFF CAMPUS. I have asthma and have been having chest problems for the past 2 days. After waiting almost an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time, I was seen by my nurse practitioner. I told her that I was experiencing a burning pain in my chest/airways when I walked, especially outside in the heat/humidity. I explained that it was like a burning from asthma, not from heart burn. I also explained that I had a cough, runny nose, headache, fatigue and body aches off and on. She listened to my breathing and felt my stomach, but deemed that it was acid reflux even though I explained that it was never after eating or while I was laying down. I am a nursing student here at USF & I knew the signs/symptoms of acid reflux and these were not it. After being at this clinic for almost 2 hours I just took the prescription for a cough suppressant and Prilosec and left because all I had wanted to do in those 2 hours was lie down. My body was extremely achey. Walking to and from the health services building was hell. I could barely breathe without feeling like my airways were on fire. My friend took me to an urgent care off campus about an hour after the appointment. The urgent care tested my breathing and found that my breathing ability was about half of what it should have been had I been healthy. I have an upper respiratory infection that triggered my asthma to flare up. Very different from acid reflux. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THE HEALTH CLINIC. Now I have to wait to get my prescription filled until tomorrow because the first appointment took all day. You will sit there forever and they will push you out as fast as possible without doing any tests. Thank God I had a way off campus to find an urgent care or else I would have been suffering for far longer.

Every time I go to Student Health Services, I wonder why I did. The nurse practitioners are not thorough and seem like they just want to get in and out of the room. They asked me if I wanted a test done that I had just had a week prior, so they clearly are not looking over patient files before they enter a room. She also did not run any tests to confirm if or what illness I had and just told me she would write a prescription and I could take it if I thought I needed to. Also, the people who work the front desk apparently have no clue what they are doing and there is a severe lack of professionalism when speaking to them in person and over the phone. I called to cancel an appointment the day before it was scheduled and was told it had been cancelled. However, I got a call that night to remind me of my appointment. When I called the next morning, they said it had not been cancelled. I have been going here so I wouldnt have to pay any fees and because it is cheaper than a normal Family Doctor, but after the last couple of weeks I would say, go ahead and spend the extra money because ultimately, you get what you pay for.

My friends appointment with the health center was for 3:40. She showed up early even but the center took a while and they were rushing her out the door before 5:00 (closing time). Some of the staff had already gone home. They were literally rushing her out the door and closing doors behind her. She wasnt even the last patient. The doctor would interrupt her and insisted she make an appointment for the following week since they were closing soon. She has a genetic condition and has been experiencing concerning symptoms lately. The doctor didnt want to order blood work then because they were closing soon, EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS ALREADY THERE. I understand that it was a Friday and people are trying to enjoy the weekend but, as anyone who has ever been employed knows, you dont get to close early just because you want to. Why am I writing this instead of her? Because she just wants to forget about the experience and simply never come again. I, on the other hand, want to let everyone know the kind of treatment they can expect.

Ive had a consistently great experience at this clinic. Im notoriously sick on the first day of most semesters. I saw Dr. Melissa Bailey back in August 2015 during my first day of post-bacc classes, and she was extremely pleasant and helpful. I made an appointment this afternoon on the first day of classes after having been sick all weekend, and was unknowingly placed with Dr. Bailey again today. She immediately recognized my name (from my chart of course), but also said she recognized my face and asked how my overall health had been over the past year. She made me feel comfortable (a difficult task in a doctors office), and made my appointment an absolute breeze. I hope I dont have to come back in for a long time, but if I must, I will definitely make sure I request her! Aside from Dr. Bailey, the facility is very clean, and it appears as though the clinic has found a great system for the waiting room, appointments, etc. Way better time frame than what Urgent Care or Med Express has ever given me!

I went and was told I had the flu. Even though I had a fever of 104, I was sent back to my dorm with only a narcotic to help me sleep. The doctor didnt listen to my lungs at all, because if they had they would have realized that I had pneumonia not the flu. It continued to get worse and I ended up in the ICU and was close to death. I had to be put in a coma just so that the er doctors could breathe for me. Their misdiagnosis cost me a semester of classes and my scholarships as well as the use of my legs for more than a month since I had been comatose. I also have asthma now which I will have for the rest of my life. If I could I would have given zero stars. The medical director has been extremely helpful though so he makes up that one star.

First time at this clinic and absolutely will not be returning. After 6 days of trying to treat myself with over the counters and rest, I decided it was time to go to the doctor since I need to be better asap. The initial nurse who checked me in was lovely, but the nurse practitioner I waited to see was awful. Condescending right from the start, she had the nerve to say that I was coughing just to prove to her that I am sick and that "all the patients do that." Her conclusion was that I have a common cold and should continue doing what Im doing until it gets better. She handed me a paper and was out of the room in 2 minutes tops. On top of wasting my time, the added insult really helped!

Its been two days that I spent calling them trying to get them to call in my antibiotics. The call line ladies have no idea how to help you, never forward messages and they think its hilarious. I would highly recommend Dr. Cannon though. I went in physically to get my prescription and she helped me out a lot. Wonderful, kind-hearted person.
