Pretty upset with the service at Tarpon Animal Hospital. Receptionist at the desk and vet are absolute dolls theyre awesome, but it when it comes to the actual services weve been let down twice now. We rescued a dog and found out he had heartworms a few months ago. Paid over a thousand on my initial visit over 500 on my second visit and about to spend another thousand for his last two injections. His second injection we were informed after we already arrived for the appointment that someone scheduled us wrong and he could not get his treatment done on a Saturday and they also "forgot to order thr medicine"after we both took off work for the whole day process of leaving him and then picking him up. Last week same issue, I was on my way to the vet at 7:15am which we live about 35 minutes away from, and once already in the car and taking off the day of work and the following day for this 2day long treatment i was informed that they do not have the injections that they need AGAIN for the second time. Heartworms isnt something to play with and with the amount of money Ive spent (will be $2600 CASH) and exact timing supposedly that he had to have these injections Im pretty furious.Office staff just keeps saying well we will call you when his medicine comes in so now what am I to do?take off another set of two days from work for the same issue? I would at least think for their mishap happening twice now they would have at least compensated us or gotten something a little more than an "oops sorry". Im not sure whos in charge of ordering the medications for the dogs but this is the second time in a month and a half and financially if I wasnt in the situation I was in I would take him to another vet and get him re-examined and on a program with a different vet in a heartbeat. There is no contact information for the owner , Sal, so I really hope he gets a chance to read this review and knows whats going on at Tarpon animal hospital. Until then I am still waiting on just a phone call to find out when my dog can finish his heartworm treatment.

I would NEVER recommend Tarpon Animal to anyone. I brought my beloved cat there to be treated. The staff initially appeared to be very sympathetic to me and my cat. The health problem was misdiagnosed. When I returned to the office to discuss my options, the doctor stated that my cat would suffer. He proceeded to explain their procedure of putting an animal to sleep, starting with sedative to relax the pet before the final shot is administered to stop the heart. When I decided it was time, I made the appointment . This was a painful, difficult decision to make. My husband and I brought our cat in for the appointment. The doctor neglected to give my cat a sedative. My cat was scared and screaming as an assistant tried to hold him down and the doctor repeatedly kept sticking a needle into my cat. My husband and I were extremely upset. When I asked the doctor why he hadnt sedated my cat, he looked at the assistant and said were we supposed to do that first? After many attempts, the doctor successfully found a vein and my beloved cat was dead. The final minutes of his life were unnecessarily sad, traumatic and sad - for my cat, my husband and me. The doctor and the assistant left the room. My husband and I were left alone in the treatment room with our cat. We were very obviously very upset. After minutes passed and no one came in, I went out to find someone. I was told that we could proceed to pay the bill. I had to ask for a box to carry the body of my cat. A woman brought me a beat up card board box that supplies were delivered in. I wrote a letter to Tarpon Animal Hospital but never received a phone call or written response. Do not use this animal hospital if you value or care about your pet!

Awful Place. I didnt want to write on here because I thought my case might have been an isolated case but after reading these, I think its important for animal lovers and pet owners to know that this is not a loving environment to take your pet. My Great Aunt passed away and left me her cat last year, and the cat one day seemed to have a hard time using the bathroom, the next day she was fine, this repeated a couple of days later and I made an appointment. The night before the appointment my cat was very lethargic and had trouble breathing, I ran in (as soon as they opened) and the gasped and took my cat from me and took her in the back. They put me in a room and the doctor came in and explained she had a UTI and his words were "unless you have a $1000, there is nothing we can do, we dont take payment plans." I am a college student, with a part time job, there was no way I carried $1000 on me. He said that If I had come in sooner they probably could have helped but it was too late, I NEVER was offered to say goodbye to my cat, or be by her side or anything. The last time I saw her was when they took her from me in the office. A woman came in said she was sorry and handed me the bill, to which i found out that my cat passed away and they gave it CPR to revive her only to put her to sleep again. I was hysterical and in the office they said you can pay whenever youre ready. My mom called and complained, and the entire staff wrote on a sympathy card and sent to it my house (The only decent thing theyve done.) Ill never get to see my cat again, and it was hard to not even say goodbye to my Aunts Cat.

Weve done business with this vet over a two-month period involving three kittens. This included an initial exam where Dr. Collins noted the possibility of ringworm with one of the kittens and yet inexplicably chose no action. She later admitted that a home with three kittens presented a much higher risk of fungal spread but attempted to justify her decision to not take action by claiming the patch looked like an ear scratch. All three kittens developed significant ringworm infections that likely could have been avoided had greater diligence been practiced during the initial visit. Hundreds and hundreds of dollars later (the bill is well over $1,200), were still fighting infection with one of the kittens. As if that werent bad enough, we wasted money on a fungal culture ordered by one vet when the other vet on the same day was able to determine from a black light exam at no charge that the kitten was infected. The staff couldnt be bothered to place a prepaid order for an oral fungal medication for the remaining infected kitten for two full days. They werent even aware they had neglected to place the order until we inquired, and even then attempted to cover up their oversight. The two healthy kittens are in the meantime at risk for re-contracting the fungus from the infected and untreated kitten. All the while, this facility acts as if it has done nothing wrong. We will be back to pick up the fungal medication when its ready, but we will never do business with this vet again.
