could have gone to the brand new, beautiful Northside Cherokee hospital, but since I had been treated in 2014 for sepsis due to a kidney infection from meds I was taking at the time for my diabetes, I thought it would be better to go to the same hospital, Northside Atlanta, even though much further away, that got me through it in 2014.I told them Id had an infected tooth for over a month that Id had removed on Monday, two days prior. I also told them I had an ingrown toenail that was infected. They did not look at my tooth socket or my toe. Dr. Mikal Bennett had the nurse put in an i.v. line, but did not connect fluid for over an hour. I was crying since I came into the hospital, from the pain and still I did not receive any pain meds. I told them I had been treated in 2014 there and they could see that I was not allergic to Dilaudid. I am allergic to all the codones among other antibiotics and different diabetic meds which I told them when asked. I waited for almost 3 hours then his nurse came in and hung a bag of Cipro. They told me that I did not have sepsis, but would do other blood cultures again, which they never did. At this point I still had no idea what they were treating me for, and very much still in pain. I asked the nurse what they were treating me for with the Cipro and she said we your urine is dirty, your heart rate was 139, your white count is elevated, so it looks like a kidney and bladder infection. The nurse wanted to take my temperature and my Husband and I both told her I had just eaten some ice. She said how long ago? We told her like a minute or 2 at the most ago. She said oh, thats plenty of time. She said 98.4, that tylenol really brought it down. I could tell I still had a fever that the ice was hiding from the thermometer. Then she said, "since you told the Dr. that yourre allergic to Dilaudid, hes not going to give you anything for pain. I said hes a liar and hes fired, I want another Dr. In less than a minute, Dr. Mikal Bennett came in the room and was almost yelling and said" Im discharging you NOW! My nurse said you called me a Fu...ing liar and that I was fired. I started crying again because to be accused of language so awful was just unbelievable! I told him that I never use that kind of language and to bring the nurse that said I did back into the room. I asked her if she said that I said that and she said"thatst what you said". My husband and I were totally dumbfounded. I said" Honey, youve known me 27 years, have I or would I ever speak that kind of language"? He said "She would rather die than talk like that"! The nurse said "well hes your Husband". As if he would lie too! I told them I was a Christian and I never use that kind of language. He called me a liar and rapidly discharged me with only 15 minutes of the antibiotic he prescribed. He is an awful dr. and an awful person. I truly worry when we have this caliber of person treating our ill Atlantans. If you have a choice, then please, for your own safety, seek help elsewhere. Dont go to Northside Atlanta Emergency Room. If on the outside chance, you have to, then do not agree to let this Dr. Makal Bennett be your Dr. To top this terrible experience off, I discovered on the way home, that I am allergic now to Cipro. I got a hive in my throat and hives all over my arms. I had to call my primary care Dr. to give me a different prescription. I am still so sick.

Northside Atlanta: I wish they offered negative stars or zeros! Worst experience ever for my daughter at discharge. I will say the hospital stay seemed good and the nurses for the most case were very cordial and attentive. Her discharge nurse was very rude and rushing them to get out. My daughter had requested a discharge before 3pm or after 6pm to avoid sitting in hours of traffic as the drive is already an hour without traffic. The told her no problem but then was pushing her to check out at 4:30. The nurse kept shoving papers in her face to sign and she requested if she could take a minuite and stop to feed the baby. The nurse stated " I have other patients to see you need to finish this so I can get to them". My daughter ask if she could just sign and let the nurse put the dates in and the nurse said no I cannot do your job. After rushing my daughter, her husband and new born out the door. The spent several hours in traffic before making it home. By this time my daughter was in extreme pain and sent her husband to fill the prescription. The doctor who wrote the prescription along with the at least two nurses that reviewed it failed to catch the error. The pharmacy could not fill it. Then the on set of spending the next 6 hours trying to get the issue resolved. After 6 hours of phone calls the end result was to drive back to Atlanta at 11pm at night to pick up a new prescription. Request were made to fax, send to closer Northside Hospital in Cherokee or to send to Keiser Urgent Care, which is were the physician is associated. None of these request could be meet so the solution would be to spend the next three hours in travel time to pick up a prescription then take it somewhere to be filled and wait for that meanwhile my daughter suffers. This makes me wonder what other errors were made that we are unaware of, was any other medication errors made? So disappointed in the mistakes, lack of responsibility and complete inability to resolve what seems like a simple issue to provide quality patient care. I even ask if they could send someone to my daughter with the prescription. Instead of making her drive, have them drive it to her as it was their mistake. As I am sure you already may have guessed they declined to do so. My daughter has amazing insurance and paid the estimated balance of what would be due after insurance before admission. Lesson learned to avoid Northside Atlanta at all cost quality does not come from Quanity. They may deliver many babies but they certainly failed to do the right thing in this situation. I have had friends and other relatives deliver with Wellstar and seemed to have a better experience. Note to self when reffering in the future. Hopefully my daughters suffering will be remedied soon as Northside Atlanta could care less!

I want to start off by saying how I appreciate the clinical education of the Drs and nurses that treated me. But just because you went to school and graduated from college with your degrees doesnt mean your the best at your profession. This have been the worst experience in my life ever in a hospital. 1st off I didnt want to be there in the 1st place due to untrusting d/x the Drs was trying to give me because of inflammation. Which there are plethora of misdiagnosis thats acts as if you have MS. Long story short Dr. Espinosa treated me like I was a addict. Based off my profile they can see I dont even take pills didnt even take the percocets they offered me but treated me as if I was a drug addict. Deformation of character at its best. I had a lumbar puncture which the side affects are bad migraines. Dr. Espinosa did absolutely nothing to keep me comfortable. I left feeling worse then when I went in. Then heres the kicker you addmit me in for a lumbar puncture this is what the MS diagnosis was solely bases of off. But every test you run coming back negative no MS detected but you say because clinically you diagnosing me with MS. Wrong answer I will sue to the fulliest for misdiagnosing me with that immune disease due to inflammation. Im very unhappy and Im getting a second opinion and consulting my lawyer for deformation of character and waiting on pending results of lumbar puncture. Also they sent me home with no pain meds I left the hospital today on a scale of 9. The worst care I ever had in my entire adult life. Will never go back for treatment here. Please be careful and mindful of who you care for because you never know who your dealing with on a professional level. Black people are always stereotyped thats why we stay suing because everyone isnt stupid if Dr. Espinosia thought that. I hope the next patient gets better treatment. Thank you for 5 miserable days of my life. Also I left the hospital with unsteady gate, dizziness, no type of pain therapy. Im so baffled by the care I received. I could of just stayed home for that treatment giving to me. Nothing they gave me made me comfortable. I was in so much pain I was agitated. I could of pulled my head off thats how much pain I was in. They didnt care. They need they licensed revoked a.s.a.p.
