My first visit was pleasant From that point on, downhill. I was sold on taking all of these hormone test, to check quality of my "eggs" and fertility. Then I was sold to take another battery of blood work. I also was informed Id need an ultrasound because I suspected fibroids were back because my chiro saw a solid white object on my x-rays, in my abdomen area. I returned for the ultrasound, and was given very vague results. She never mentioned the solid object which I researched on my own could be a calcified fibroid that wasnt removed in a previous myomectomy. 2 weeks later Im called back to give more blood because they made an error and put it in a vile not accepted by a particular lab accepted by my insurance. When I returned I sat in the lobby over an hour and 30 minutes. I watched patients walk in after me, be seen by the doctor, and exit. They gave me some consolation gift for the inconvenience - a glade candle ?). Once the results came in -- mind you, I had to call and request follow up over the phone-- I was told my egg quality was good; but elevated levels of certain hormones, and that high testosterone could be a precursor to diabetes, and that I need to come in and take a glucose test (more blood work) that would test my levels over a longer period of time. The doctor recommended taking supplements to balance these hormones. In the visit she told me I had fibroids and an enlarged uterus (duh, I got fibroids). Then she proceeded to tell me that shes only had one patient conceive with a uterus my size, without intervention. A couple months passed, and no word from the office to explain the working diagnosis, a referral to a surgeon, nor the results from the blood glucose test. I called the office, and Dr. Dawson answered. She seemed upset her office staff didnt follow up with me on the glucose testing, and said Id hear from them the following Monday. Sufficed to say, no one called. That was Nov. 2013. May, 2014, I called again, this time to express my discontent and her lack of bedside manner, and she proceeded to ask what more did I need to know. I asked for her "working diagnosis", and she told me "Infertility" in a cold manner. I asked her how did she come to this diagnosis, and she began reading her notes from the visit, which indicated she didnt listen to anything I told her. She went on to say, "youve been trying to get pregnant for 3 years...", which was not what we discussed. I did tell her Id been in a relationship for 3 years, and we were thinking of trying and occasionally practiced, but not steadily trying to get pregnant, with no results. She then told me most likely Im not releasing eggs... on and on to discourage me from achieving my goal of conceiving at 40. In my estimation, asking that she forward my records elsewhere and my admitted frustration with her staff, she called me directly, and was frustrated with me asking for my results and a more comprehensive follow up, considering all the money spent with her, and her up-selling her testing and supplements. I sought her out because her claim is that she is a "holistic" gynecologist. In my estimation: shes is not passionate about helping EVERYONE

Been new to Atlanta I was on need for a gynecologist and since I live 5 minutes away I decide to go to Dr. Dawsons practice. I arrived well on time but still have to wait 40 minutes to be called, Im an easy to please patient/customer so I really didnt care much, but things started adding up. Dr Dawson seem to hate what she does cause she walked in with an " OK, what do you want and hurry up" attitude. I explained that it was time for my annual pap smear and that I was having strong cramp like pain almost daily, a puncturing sensation so I was fearing about my IUD. She raised her eye browns and in a patronizing tone she said that I could not know that. Of course I couldnt know for sure, Im not the doctor. But shouldnt I be able to explain myself?. Then I made the mistake of asking what would happen if in fact my IUD was misplaced. She told me I would have to pay around $400 for her to take it out and since that probably was not cover by my insurance I would have to pay it out of pocket. Thats when my mild character started to crack. I wasnt concerned about the money, I was concerned about having something scratching my insides. Maybe since English is not my first language my question was not very well understood. I asked 2 times more trying to be more specific and got the same nothing answer twice, with the same arrogant tone " If you want to have anything done to your IUD you have to sign a form and pay out of pocket. Are you sure you can pay for it? Its $400." Feel patronized while naked in a table is a horrible sensation. I gave up and told her I just wanted the pap smear. While making the pap smear she completely ignore my pain complains. Not even a pretended "sorry". But of course, she remembered that I mention something about hair lose and weight gain so she kindly encourage me to take a hormonal test. So yeah, Im never seen her again.

This was the WORST medical practice I had ever been to. Some of her staff were nice but her phlebotomist prepped my arm for a blood draw with no gloves, with her shoes off like she was at home folding clothes or braiding hair. Her front desk assistants are nonchalant (she trains them well, I guess), inept and condescendingly rude. Some of the equipment is outdated, as well. Dr. Dawson has a horrible bedside manner and does not care about her patients. I had a form from my employer for the doctor to sign acknowledging that I had "ONE OF" the health screenings listed so that I could receive comp time from my employer for the annual visit. Dr. Dawson refused to sign the form (all doctors sign that form with no hesitation) unless I underwent a litany of blood screenings to test for EVERYTHING on the form. Im not sure how holistic she is. Everything she recommended for me was anything but holistic or homeopathic, other than the old photocopied pamphlet she gave me on which foods not to eat. But when she asked me what I ate that day, she told me to incorporate more meat into my diet. Shes excellent at telling you how you are the cause for everything youre experiencing, versus going over your medical history and what you are presenting that day and discussing possible causes, treatment and solutions. You and your health are not valued here, but your copay is. Anyone giving this practice more than 1 star either works for the practice, knows someone at the practice or is related to someone at the practice. Dr. Dawson is well known for one thing: being a rude and condescending doctor. That is her specialty. I dont understand how she has not been investigated by the state because she clearly tries to pile on expensive, unnecessary tests, not covered by your insurance, to cover overhead,

I initially went in for a follow up test to a pap, I filled out medical release forms so that she could see the previous test, but they never pulled my records - after a year of waiting, I obtained records and came back for my annual pap - the condition had gotten worse. (lesson learned - everyone should hold a copy of their own records as I have found that many doctors offices no longer pull a full medical history from previous doctors virtually erasing your medical history) Both times I saw Dr Dawson, she was thorough and spent time talking about my concerns. However, she also very condescending and asked me questions in a way that made me feel inept and confused. She was not pleased that I had not FULLY cleared abusive trauma from my childhood (I have worked hard on this for over 20 years, but its an ongoing process) and that I basically was giving myself a death sentence for not working harder on my issues - she suggested some books for me to read - of which I had read all of them at least 10 years ago. It was almost as though she thought I had an eating disorder (I do not) in the way she asked me dietary questions or was not concerned for my health and well being (I am). Though I was honest about my habits and behaviors. She also suggested tests for other bodily functions being that I am in my early 40s but the results of the initial tests just lead to more tests that were not covered by insurance. I was waiting for a more holistic approach to the findings of the tests (support with medication or diet changes) but no offerings were suggested without a full run of expensive and not covered by insurance bloodwork. In those two visits I left not feeling supported and more unhealthy than I did than when I got there.
