Their maternity ward is a joke. If youre pregnant, PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. One of the nurses used regular soap to clean my urethra area before catheterization and then expected me to relax while they were putting the catheter in. Anyone ever get soap in there?? Yeah it hurts like hell. I literally felt the skin rip while they were shoving the thing in there. I was hurting so bad I was shaking. I told them to take it out. They refused. I demanded and they refused again. All because I was on magnesium. Thankfully I was transported to another hospital. After arrival, they knew something was wrong with the catheter. I was still crying and shaking from the pain and there was a lot of blood in the collection bag. The ride in the ambulance was excruciating. The entire four days I was at the other hospital, they NEVER catheterized me even though I was on magnesium (GASP!). The nurses in the maternity ward at Union General are a bunch of ignorant back wood hicks who like to call themselves "nurses". They broke the law when they refused to take the catheter out. Its my body, my decision. Not to mention, their "advice" isnt worth two cents. I called numerous times and reported bleeding and they said it was normal. In fact, the morning I went up there, I called and explained the amount of blood loss and they told me to just take it easy. Theyre all idiots. Bleeding is NOT normal. They also tried to tell me that the contractions Id been feeling for weeks were just round ligament pain. They should all have their licenses taken away. Their ignorance and lack of medical sound advice couldve cost my son his life. Im just thankful that I ignored them and showed up at the ER anyway. Just wish Id gone to a different hospital. 9 months post partum, Im still having tons of urinary problems. Dont go to Union General. These people are idiots.

My wife and I brought out our 4 year old son to the e.r. because he was running a high fever of 103.9 and his fever was not breaking with Tylenol or Motrin. He also has a history of febrile seizures . He was also weak and dehydrated accompanied by a bad cough along with unusual breathing patterns. The p.a. did not seem to show any concern whatsoever. The only thing done was the p.a. shined a light in his ears and looked in his mouth for a split second and gave him some Tylenol. Minutes later the nurse comes in with our discharge papers. Which they ruled it to just being a viral infection. Which as his parents we knew better. How could they have come to such a quick diagnosis without any testing? Which we mentioned to the nurse and her answer was the p.a. was about to go home for the night. I was disappointed that no test were done of any sort. We left and immediately proceeded to north east Georgia medical in Braselton, Ga. When we arrived they immediately took him back. The doctor checked his vitals, And listened to his breathing. Showing high heart rate and bp for a child his age. He then ordered a chest x ray and blood work to be done along with i.v. fluids for dehydration. A few minutes later we found out that he has pneumonia in his right lung and also had a ear infection and was very dehydrated. They admitted him in the hospital at northeast Georgia in gainesville in the pediatrics unit. I have had good and bad expierances with union general but this expierance was the worst , causing me to loose any hope and trust with union. It is sad that we had to travel a hour and half just to receive the proper healthcare that my son and anyone deserves.

I am appalled at the lack of care at Union County Hospital. We had to call an ambulance because he went from walking one day to being totally immobile. We explained what had been happening in the last couple of months to the PA and she responded, What do you want the outcome of this visit to be?" We requested an MRI and she gave him a CT scan which will not show the spinal cord and clotting. He was there 6 hours and not once did anyone come in to check his vital signs, ask if he would like water, give him an IV, although Kyle the tech was very nice. I asked them to consult with his doctors at Emory but they acted like that was a foreign concept and did not. After results from the CT scan came in, she said we could bring him home. He can not stand up or walk. We asked him to be referred back to rehab for physical therapy at Blue Ridge per the doctor at Emory, but they refused to hold him for observation or anything. They set him up with a rehab in N.C, said we were lucky, and then asked if we were transporting him. We told them he can stand up and walk, so no we wont be transporting him. They told us they would set up an ambulance. I ADVISE YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL! Get to Piedmont in Jasper, Gainesville, or Atlanta. The PA was just plain rude and we NEVER saw a doctor. We requested to see Dr.Albright who was the emergency room doctor and got Mary who said she is the PA and was insutled that I would ask for a doctor. Saddened for those in Union County.

I travel with a service dog. Security has required that I present credentials and put paperwork on file with the security office. I, in spite of it not being required by law, sent all my dogs shot records, certification, etc to the hospital, along with a letter and a copy of the ADA laws. Today I went with a radiology order to get an x-ray. Security told me that I could not go into the examination area, any patient rooms, cafeteria - I could only go in the hallway and lobby accompanied by the dog. I tried to explain that they had all the documentation and that ADA does permit me to have the dog anywhere that I can go - except operating rooms, etc. that are sterile environments. I left and am seriously considering filing a complaint with the Department of Justice.

I have been making payments to Union General Hospital each month and have request a payment plan on their website. On one bill I did recieve a payment plan. On the next bill I requested a payment plan and never recieved one and have been paying each month the quanity in the first plan. They continued to turn me over to collections despite requesting a payment plan AND MAKING MONTHLY PAYMENTS. This was very disappointing as a client trying to make good on a large bill, the remaining amount was less than 100.00. Never the less the bill is paid and I hope no harm came to my credit score. Same on them for turning over a client when they were making payments.
