American Heritage has been there for our family pets every step of the way. Our previous dog, who sadly had to be put down at age 16, was well taken care of here, and the staff were very knowledgeable and caring towards the end of her life. We had never had to put down a pet before - Dr. Cat made the appointment as easy as possible and comforted us and our beloved dog during the entire process. Shortly after we lost our pet, we decided to adopt a puppy from the Humane Society. Upon adoption, the Humane Society suggested we try the nearby VCA hospital for our new dog Maxs first check-up. Max was very skittish and frightened there, and the staff were incapable of easing him into the appointment. They even suggested that he may be too aggressive to be a family pet. However, we decided to give Max another chance and took him to American Heritage for his next scheduled vet visit. While he was still very scared, squirmy and even a little aggressive at that time, Dr. Cat knew how to calm him, and never wrote him off as a lost cause. Nearly two years later, Max is a well-adjusted, highly-trainable and friendly dog who hangs out with an office of people every day, as well as dogs of all shapes and sizes. Had we listened to the other veterinarian, we might have given up on him. We often take Max to Dr. Cats office for check-ups, immunizations, and grooming, and we know hes in the hands of those who care about him. Dr. Cat even allowed us to leave Max at her office for a few hours each week while he was a puppy, so that he could socialize with her own pets there. Were truly thankful for Dr. Cat and her staff, and we know we can trust them when it comes to our pets health!

This is the vet who killed my husbands dog who was only there for a simple teeth cleaning! They put the dog under anesthesia & the poor thing died! This all happened a few years ago, before I met my husband. After our marriage I moved into my hubbys home & was looking for a nearby vet for my cats. This is when my husband told me this sad, sad story... At the time this happened, my husband was in too much grief to do anything but cry & grieve further. The clinic asked if he wanted an autopsy but my hubby declined. What end would an autopsy serve? You cannot sue for this type of thing. The dog was a gift from a client & my husband couldnt ask for his value. Pain or suffering is not part of the equation when an animal dies... I believe we should have a precedent to sue for this type of thing but it doesnt presently exist since the law views our pets as property (like our cars or furniture) & not as cherished members of our family. Had I been in the picture then I would have never allowed the vet to put this tiny dog under anesthesia for something so simple. But my husband was not knowledgeable of the risks & no one at the clinic informed him they planned on giving the dog general anesthesia or explained any such risks. The dog was dropped off & 2 hours later my husband RECEIVED A PHONE CALL that his beloved companion was dead! Later, this clinic sent my husband a bill for the "disposal" of poor Buddy, his dog. How terrible!!! Unacceptable! I implore you NOT to take your animal to these murderers!!!

We have two small dogs that are part of our family. One has had various allergy and physical problems and the other has been diagnosed with liver hepatics. Dr. McGinnis has gone the extra mile several times in keeping little Scooter alive. She did not hesitate to send us to UGA School of Veterinary Medicine for a liver biopsy after she discovered a misshapen liver. By all rights, Scooter should have already passed away. Dr. McGinnis has worked tirelessly with us to keep him with us way past his time and he still enjoys life! I notice some less than complimentary comments posted here. I do not know the timeframe for these comments but Dr. McGinnis has been operating American Heritage Animal Hospital for a relatively short time. If your experience was with the previous owner, I urge you to return to the practice. Dr. McGinnis is very friendly, open with her clients, knowledgeable and genuinely loves her profession. If you had a bad experience with the previous owner, I strongly urge you to return to a much better care team for your pets.

Im so fortunate to have known Dr. Cat before she took over this practice in Snellville. Ive watched her grow into a very compassionate, knowledgeable, and trustworthy veterinarian. Prior to my experience with American Heritage, I was a long-time client at Clairmont Animal Hospital, which I still think very highly of. However, since moving my three dogs to Dr. Cats care they have received so much more personable attention than would have ever been possible at a larger office. I trust her care of my animals so much that I also use her as my emergency contact if ever I leave my animals for boarding or anything else that requires an extended stay. I hope that anyone else searching for a vet with these qualities will give Dr. Cat an opportunity to provide care for your animals. She has so much to offer in this much needed field and I hope shes around for a long time to come! Thank you, thank you Dr. Cat and your awesome staff!!!

Doctor Cat and assistant Mariah were a blessing for myself and my precious little Yorkie. As walk-ins we were seen immediately and his medical condition was immediately treated and resolved at a fraction of the cost!!! They had awesome pet-side manners and was very informative on additional services such as; pet insurance that will help for future visits. The final winner was a follow up card with a written message and a couple days after that a follow up phone call checking on my baby. Awesome people and practice!

Ive taken my pets to several vets throughout Atlanta over the years, however now I drive 30 minutes(each way) to take my beloved dogs to American Heritage Animal Hospital. I make the trip because of Dr. Cat McGinnis. She is consistent, thorough, and straight forward. She goes out of her way to offer me the best care for my pets. You couldnt pay me to take them anywhere else. Actually her rates are more reasonable then most vets. One visit and youll see what I mean. I cant give her a higher recommendation.

Dr. Cat and the entire staff are a godsend!!! I have four cats that used to fear going to another local vet. Now, they dont mind going to visit the vet at all. Ive found that my cats are not only treated better at this facility but also respond better to Dr. Cats treatment plans. The prices are also way better at American Heritage Animal Hospital than any of the other vet offices that Ive visited in Gwinnett. I dont feel like Im being over charged. This is simply the BEST VET EVER (or in Georgia at least)!!!

The entire staff at this clinic is wonderful! They are all very confident and compassionate people who make taking care of our pets look easy! Dr. Cat and LRee had gone above and beyond the call of duty today! Upon arriving at the clinic, my kitty had an accident in her carrier. Together, they kindly and professionally cleaned up my kitty and her carrier and of course murmured words of sweetness and comfort to her all the while. They took what was an embarrassing situation for me and put us both at ease.
