My sweet 11 yr. old Maggie had been seen previously by another vet in the valley. After her chrck up, they sold me some specialty dog food, ran blood work and sent us on our way. We never heard back with results until I called them a couple weeks later when Maggie had gotten considerably worse. Through my tears I asked to please bring her in and have her looked at immediately. She was lethargic, hadnt eaten or taken water and breathing was labored. They said I could come by and pick up some oral anti inflamatories and schedule an appointment for the next day or bring her in later in the day to see a different vet. Knowing she was in distress, I called another Vet who also could not be bothered and then River City Vet. They were quick to respond and told me to bring her in immediately. The staff and Veterinarian were so wonderful and compassionate. They brought a gurney out to my car, gently lifted Maggie onto it and brought her inside. After they had her inside and comfortable on the table, one of the assistants leaned over, pet her face and kissed her forehead while reassuring her with kind words. Although we could not change the outcome of our visit, River City made our last moments with our precious momma Maggie bearable. My mother, son and daughter were with me in the private room with Maggie when she passed. We were allowed to hold her, love on her and be together as a family before she passed. Then we were given time afterwards to comfort and console eachother before leaving our beloved friend. We lost a dear member of our family. River City helped us through the events of that day and granted Maggie care when 2 other clinics- including our own Vet turned her away. We are still grieving her loss but are so thankful for the care, concern and genuine kindness from all the staff and facility at River City.

River City is the best! As a new pet owners and new Boise/Idaho residents my husband and I were lost on so many things when it came to our dog. We adopted her from the humane society about 5 months ago and over those few months had a list of questions. We came in because she had yellow-green ooze coming from her eye. This was taken care of in a quick appointment and were able to come back the next week for her shots (with the visit being FREE) and only paid for her shots. But during this visit we had a million questions: We didnt know how often she should come in to the vet, what we should be concerned about, heartworm, ticks, shots, check-ups, if we were feeding her enough, who the good trainers were in the area, how to register her, etc. All of our questions were answered AND Dr. Kelly Miller was FANTASTIC! She was super patient and informative when it came to answering. We never felt rushed or that we were taking up to much of her time. I even came in with the dreaded list of questions. River City also offers Wellness plans. While its not doggy insurance it covers a milieu of things that may come over the year including shots, heartworm, some day boarding, and other things at an affordable price. All in all I am SUPER glad that we were able to find River City vet.

I recently moved to Meridian and needed a closer vet for my boxer. I looked at River Citys website and like what I saw. Because Axel had previously had a couple of minor illnesses, I called River City to see if I could get him in the system even though he had not yet visited them. The receptionist was great and helped me get his information set up so that it would be there if he needed to be seen by a vet before any scheduled vaccination updates. Luckily, he didnt, but I really appreciated their willingness to get that set up for me. In late September, Axel needed a vaccination booster and I was able to make an appointment using the new app at a very convenient time for me. Axel thoroughly enjoyed his visit (well, maybe not the temperature taking and the shot) and everybody was so friendly and willing to take the time to give Axel some love and answer any questions I had. River City is a wonderful facility and it makes me feel good that Axel will get such great care from the doctors and staff. I look forward to many years with River City helping me keep Axel healthy and happy.

My animals are my children and I am very picky about who I trust with their care. I regularly recommend River City to my family and friends and will continue to do so. Their staff is very knowledgeable and compassionate from the front desk to the vet techs and the doctors. River City has a beautiful facility and a great location. They have always been careful to walk through my options and have been very honest about the cost. They even referred me elsewhere once when a serious surgery was not in their area of expertise. This to me proves their integrity and honesty. They also offer a lot of extra’s like free puppy socialization classes, options for training, medication reminders via e-mail, helpful articles about relevant health alerts and how to keep our animals healthy. They always have very good follow up as well when my pet has been to see them checking to make sure their recovery was going smoothly. They are a full service vet office from grooming and boarding to dealing with serious health issues. I would highly recommend River City to anyone looking for a great vet.

Im really NOT there when my dogs are being boarded. All I can say is what they tell me. The first thing they tell me is that when I hand them over to go to doggie daycare or boarding, that they willingly go with the attendant, tails wagging. When we enter the doors of the veterinary hospital they also go willingly, wagging their tails at the receptionist, no fear, only anticipation. When I pick them up, they are bouncy, happy and look clean and healthy. They arrive from grooming relaxed, refreshed and dont act like they have been through an unusual trauma. All of these things tell me a lot and make me feel secure in leaving Sharlie and Rowdy confidently in River Citys care. I am older, and their prices seemed a little high, but I have decided I would rather pay a little more and have content pets, than a little less and deal with traumatized, angry, dirty dogs! Thank you, River City for taking good care of Sharlie and Rowdy.

We had always had an outstanding experience at River City Vet, but there was one day in particular where they literally held our hearts in their hands & we will never forget that. Our 14 year old Malamute was showing signs of dementia, but we couldnt see it. We thought if we took her in for a check up, they would tell us something we could do to help her & through their care, they did. They asked one question, "does she still do the things she really used to enjoy" & we realized she didnt wait for us to come home, she couldnt sit still out front on the lawn, & she wasnt enjoying her life anymore. River City handled one of the most difficult experiences of our lives & now we recommend them to everyone we know. Weve also continue to take our current dog & two cats for boarding & with RC we know they will be well cared for. Our dog actually pulls us inside & is excited for us to leave her there! They are amazing!
