i have always taken my dog to HVC since he was a puppy but we never would have to do anything more than his routine vaccination and it was very affordable. Last week he become very ill, throwing up and had very bad diarrhea for 4 days. I called to make a appointment and they were able to get me in the very next day at 4:30. When we got there i didnt wait very long before seeing the doctor. When he came in the room he asked me all of the same questions that the girls at the front desk had just asked. after his questions he said that he would have to admit my dog to observe him while on the medication, when i asked him how much that would run me he just turned around and walked out without saying a word. About 5 minutes later a vet tech came in the room; took my dog and walked out without saying anything to me... confused i went to the girls at the front desk and asked what was going on. She hands me a bill n said that he would be there for 3 days or until he was passing solid waste. 3 days later they called me and said that he was back to normal and ready to go home. I waited 25 minutes to pay(while holding my dog that was cover in poop), when i was paying i tried to ask questions since no one has told me one thing about what was wrong with my dog. The girl got a very big attitude and just told me "i am up here all day so i dont know what was wrong with your dog. If you want to talk to someone you will have to sit down and wait bc we are very busy." VERY upset and annoyed i just paid and left. When i got home i took a look at my bill. They had charged me 40 for a walk in fee even tho i had called the day before and made a appointment! they also charged me $34 for a bag of food which i did not want or need. $250 later my dog STILL has diarrhea and seems even worse than when i took him in. i will never go there ever again.

The young staff is clueless. They made me wait almost a half hour, when it was practically empty in there when I brought in my cat for a simple ear flush and new medication. Of course Dr. Pflaum insisted that I leave the cat for a quote "ear soaking" which I thought was simple enough. I asked one of the assistants what all did the procedure include? She was clueless, I told her that if there is a medication or use of a needle to call me. I left and never heard back. They also told me it would be around $40-$50.00 dollars. I went to pick up the cat and found that I had to wait in a hot room with another 12-14 people, I must have waited a good 40 minutes. Then finally the women yells out my name. That will be $169.00 dollars. Oh, and by the way we "sedated" your cat by needle injection because he was acting up. I about flipped! I did not authorize that injection or the cost in that amount! So I brought my cat home he was throwing up, couldnt walk straight, his back claws were bleeding for some reason from scratching (what?), he was barely breathing, he was chewing on his tongue, he was sticky, smelly and wet, hair was flying everywhere, it was a total nightmare. I missed class that evening and work the next day at the office because I got about 1 hour of restless sleep thinking that he might not actually make it. They did not even do a blood panel to see if his liver and kidneys could handle such a strong sedative at his age. I am still waiting to see if he can even eat or drink water here at home in a while and hopefully at some point he will be able to finally hear as well. I am praying and crossing my fingers. Ridiculous! Very unprofessional and plain old rude! Never again!

I took my senior dog to Dr Pflaum 3 times over the past year to check on a growth in his throat, I had a needle aspiration and a biopsy done and the Dr said it was a fatty tumor and we couldnt do anything about it, I asked if it could be removed and he told me no and didnt even try to give me other options. It started growing rapidly and I took him to another Vet, that Vet tried to get my records from this clinic and they wouldnt send them. Turns out the growth was thyroid cancer not a fatty tumor and was slowly killing my dog! If it had been diagnosed correctly the 1st or 2nd time Dr Pflaum did the tests it could have been removed, but it became so large and invasive that I had to put my dog to sleep. My new Vet says he doesnt see how Dr Pflaum could have possibly gotten the results saying fatty tumor when it was clearly cancer and he doesnt understand why the Dr wouldnt give me any options for surgery, he said I should have been sent to the surgery center for an evaluation at least. This was my 1st dog and he was healthy all his life, so I didnt have much experience with Vets and I took his word without 2nd guessing. He killed my dog! He probably figured the dog was a senior and wouldnt make him much $$ anyway, cause he sure tried to do a lot of unnecessary treatments on my puppy and get lots of $$ from me then! Ill never go back there again and its 2 minutes from my house.

Please BEWARE!! Being very new to town I took my chances with a new vet and I took my pet to Horizon Animal Hospital to get neutered and have his dewclaws removed. If only I new it would be one of the worst decisions I have made. To start off I felt very rushed and unimportant to all the employees. Not to mention I never even met or spoke with the vet before OR after my pets surgery. After I picked my pet up 7 hours later (that was the required time, which is long for such a short procedure), I was in shock of how messy and scary my pet looked. With a lack of better words, it looked like an immature did his procedure! They also DID NOT prescribe ANY antibiotics for my pet to take (which I later found out is unheard of!) I did not know what to think was normal for him to look like, so during that week I took him to 2 additional hospitals for more opinions. They were both in shock of how bad of shape they put my dog in. I JUST WISH I could post the pictures to show you exactly how seriously bad he looked. Everyone I showed pictures to either wanted to cry or be sick. I never write reviewed but I hope to prevent anyone else having to go through such a tragic situation with their loved one! Thank the Lord my pet is back to himself, and as for the vet and hospital, we are taking legal action!!!

The woman vet (Dr. Katrina I think?) is amazing. Thoughtful, caring and kind... its obvious that she truly loves animals and respects their families. Dr. Pflaum on the other hand... each time weve been in when he was working Ive found myself increasingly bemused by his behavior and comments. Im not sure if he hates cats and wants them to die or if he is just utterly confused about what to do when a cat gets sick. Hes like the WebMD of veterinarians, where exchanges like this happen: "Hey Doc, my cat, shes not acting right. She sneezes all the time and has runny goop in her eyes. What is it?" "Cancer." "Couldnt it be a cold or something?" "Nope. Cancer." "Oh no! So what can I do?" "Well, is she allergic to anything?" "Im not sure, but she always gets sick when she has fish." "Interesting. Im going to write you a prescription for fish." Maybe he was once an incredible veterinarian, from what I know hes been there for ages, but at some point it seems he went a little barmy. Take what I say with a grain of salt... I always encourage people to form their own opinions. If you want my opinion, though, make sure you see the woman vet when you go to this place. Especially if you have a cat.
