I absolutely dread this place. I have nightmares about this place. I am afraid of going to my many appointments at this place, and I am especially afraid of having to have my family tag along with me. First off, Chicago is plain scary with the gang violence going on everywhere. This place is not at all secure and the veteran drug addicts go there for their VA fixes, and sometimes are so effed up from their fixes that they are strung out on the bathroom floor. The homeless shelter is also here, which is fine, but they have no choice but to wander around the hospital until their area is opened up for the night. Needless to say, it doesnt feel safe and I am terrified of being there or having my family with. Some of the doctors are ok. Many of them dont speak a lick of English. The patient advocates wont answer their phone and you have to chase them down in the hospital, only to find them all hanging out together instead of helping patients. The radiology department is enough to make some want to go postal. The dental clinic is awesome. Pray to some higher power that you never have to go to the emergency room for anything and if you do, pack a cooler and a tent because you will be there for hours. Dare to complain and they will put you back to the beginning. I have actually seen a family call an ambulance to the VA emergency room to take their veteran dad to a nearby hospital because they waited so long to be seen and he was getting worse. That is simply pathetic. This place needs investigated if any place does. Unfortunately, for vets in the area, this is our healthcare system.

Just plain bad. I hate fighting my way to this place, parking is a nightmare, Ive been threatened, pan handled once while waiting at the pharmacy, called racial names because Im white. Really is an unbelievable experience Im not sure I want to go back to this place. The care seems ok. I see fellows which seem good but they arent there long. I think this place really needs to improve. Security alone is a joke I think anyone can walk in. Ive called the patient advocate no answer, went to their office no one there. Tried to use the Veterans Choice and that program is a joke. They do all they can to keep you from getting it.

Hour and a half wait for Complaint department because of everyone else who wanted to go in front of me. The complaints go nowhere according to a passing comment made by person who took complaints. I call to switch to Hines VA and the guy on the phone laughed and told me he gets two calls a day for people wanting to jump ship from Jesse Brown to Hines.

A long wait but at least we can get some form of care. Civilian hospitals and clinics push you off they dont give a damn if you Dont have that money you would be better off dead if it were up to these people. GIVE THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION A CHANCE TO CATCH UP WITH THE DEMANDS

A little crowded but great doctors and staff. Equipped with newest patient technology and constantly upgrading facilities. Like many other hospitals, you need to stay on top of your own care to receive the best treatments.

Horrible place. The staff in the PTSD clinic are incompetent. Several times a doctor has cancelled clinic and they never call to let you know. They tell you when you get there.
