My mother was in St Marys hospital after a serious accident. The doctors there at St. Marys are great - but the nursing staff mostly is terrible. My mother was in intensive care initially and the nurses there seemed competent. But after we moved out of intensive care we had terrible nurses. You would ring the call button and you were lucky if someone came in a 1/2 an hour. My mother would need a bedpan - and they would say, just go in the bed and well clean it up later. Thankfully there was a family member with her all the time because we observed some borderline abusive behavior by the nurses - but then they would glace over at us and see our stricken faces, and it would stop. My father was in tears at some of the rough and unkind treatment of my mother from the nursing staff. One time we rang for the nurse - no one came - after 45 minutes I went to the hallway, and there were several nurses that were talking about their weekend while standing at the nursing desk. I asked the senior nurse if she or someone else would be able to come soon, and she let out an exaggerated sigh and told me that she would come later - she was too busy. That time was about an hour and a half before anyone came. That same senior nurse at one point plopped down in a chair and started talking about her family - she was worried her son would be put in jail soon and her Pregnant daughter was nearly killed by an ex-boyfriend as he shot her car, nearly missing her. Wow. The patient billing process is not good - we are waiting on St. Marys to bill Medicare even 7 months later, but they are demanding payments (> 1/2 million dollars).

Off the bleachers I did fall, Ive had a few strains and sprains. But this time I knew it was broken, So I went to see Doctor Daines. I talked to him and explained-- "Im not one who usually complains, But I seem to have a problem here, Can you help me, Doctor Daines? After examining my x-rays, He used his God given brain, He said he thought he could fix it-- The remarkable Doctor Daines. My ankle was swollen so we wait, Until he ascertains- That it is time for surgery, The unshakable Doctor Daines. Three bones had been broken, And with all my aches and pains, I was afraid he couldnt deliver, The confident Doctor Daines. But he fixed my trimalleolar fracture, Now I dont even use a cane, Now I walk with hardly a limp, Thanks to the talented Doctor Daines. It still gets a little swollen, I can feel it when it rains, But most of that will subside-- Says the hopeful Doctor Daines. Im feeling so much better now. And the one thing that remains-- Is the appreciation that I have, For the amazing Doctor Daines. And thanks for your help, doctor Tidwell- I want you to know that you did well. ( And I thank you) And to all who helped me through-- I want to thank every one of you. (I thank you all!! My surgery was February 22nd. I only have good things to say about the care I received from St Marys Hospital and Tri State Orthopedics. I am so thankful that I can walk again. Suzi Wood

Written by connie cobb who was the patient. I have only been a patient at St.Marys once which was on 6/5/2015. My entire experience was not very good starting at the ER and ending on the ICU step down unit. Very few of the staff members were attentive enough and I only used my call light when needing to go to the bathroom. When I was discharged on 6/6/2015 and taken down to my vehicle that was an experience. Number one, the chair I was transported down in was pitiful. In fact, the tech made the comment to the Charge Nurse that it was all he could find. When getting outside to my husbands waiting vehicle the tech did lock the chair wheels however; he did not get the chair close enough to the vehicle and did not physically help me get out of the chair. I fell right on the sidewalk in front of the hospital. I scratched up my Left elbow and Left knee. I was assisted up by two employees and was offered to go to the ER however; my experience had me very ready to get out of that place. Administration might want to review transportation procedures and care rendered. I have been a nurse for 40 years and it was not good.

Terrible place a doctor from the ER who did not even lay eyes on my husband was writing his orders.. The ER doctor who actually seen him ordered a stress test said it would be given first thing in the morning well when morning rolled around nothing happen asked about it they said an H&P wasnt signed come to find out that the doctor that didnt even see him time stamped his note saying that he did see my husband and that it wasnt necessary when finally getting to talk to the charge nurse she was extremely rude telling us that it wasnt her fault which of course it wasnt but considering I work in the medical field I know your never supposed to tell the patient that its not your fault your just supposed to help fix it oh and to top it off his BP was extremely high and they was giving him BP meds that actually helped lower it and one time I had to stop them from administering the meds because they didnt even check his BP first!!!! Horrible place just horrible!!

Went to the ER with Chest pains and severe dizziness was taken to the back right away. The doctor was very nice listened to all my complaints about how I was feeling BUT THE NURSES ARE HORRIBLE down right mean! After the doctor came in and requested the test he wanted ran I literally sat in the room for 3 hours and Not once did I get checked on by my nurse. Was givin an IV with fluids it ran out 2 hours before anyone came to check on me. When she finally came in the room with the prescriptions I asked a question about the medication and was snapped at by the nurse and told I didnt have to take it!! Had to listen to them talking at the nurses station about patients poorly and laughing together about how people were feeling. My question is WHY are they nurses if they clearly dont like people. Do not trust this hospital with my life!!!!

We arrived at St. Marys ER on a Friday night. My wife had become Ill on our trip home and within 10 minutes of arriving we were in a bed being seen. Shortly after, they admitted her to 4-W. The nursing staff on the ward were great and very helpful. Our only issue was none of the doctors could make up their minds on what was going on. Each doctor had a different theory on the cause, but, the problems were addressed and taken care of. The other problem we had was with the GI drs. Apparently the staff GI department wouldnt do a consult because we had never been there before, so they had to go to a GI Dr from another hospital wich caused serious delays in treatment and diagnosis. Kudos to the 4-W director and her RN staff.

St. Marys lack of investigating where they order their medications from has made them responsible for the death of a friend and me contracting fungal meningitis, going septic, having 2 strikes, loss of vision and hearing. Good job St. Marys for being a part of the NECC 2012 fungal meningitis and arachnoiditis outbreak. Killing and maiming hundreds if people and not keeping lot numbers up to date while injecting ppl with medications when the procedure itself is not FDA approved. So, all you out there just lustening and bit doing research on what pain doctors are doing by taking injections in your joints just may not be the smartest thing to do. I am alive, but not living due to their incompetence.
