For the first year i never had a problem with banfield. They seemed pretty fair priced. Yet last week my puppy broke her arm. I take her in( i have the 1 year plan for general checkups), it was the day of her rabies shot also, so had to take her in anyways. So they say we have to do XRays. And i dont mind, yet ask how much they will be considering i dont get paid for a week. They give me a bill for 412 dollars. So i said i cant do the X rays at this very moment.(i went to a local vet and they did the Xrays for 190) So they gave her a pain shot which they said costed 20 dollars. When i get the bill it says 54 dollars. The shot was 32 and they touched around her shoulder(lameness exam)and said she needs Xrays, but i thought i was covered for a year with my plan. You touch her shoulder for 15 seconds and know nothing at all other than "we need Xrays" So i told them i couldnt afford that. I could have, just wasnt gonna pay for something when they said the shot was only suppose to be 20. A little shady on my part, but they are the big corporation stealing my dollars, figure id take my money back. So then the nurse walks in and says " i dont mean to be rude but were taking off the 20 dollar lameness exam cause were required to give them pain meds" k thanks nurse. The doctor walks in and says she doesnt think im taking this serious enough. Maybe your taking it to serious dock. Maybe i did not want to pay an extra $224 for Xrays. They end up saying something nasty to the receptionist(she has an attitude on our way out)"we NEED to see her tommorow". No you dont, my new vet does. So they say i should go to Auboretum which will have surgery from 3500-4500 dollars. I think and call around and check reviews, and a better place was to cost only $2700 dollars. So at the end of the day, go to your local vet. Unless you have a puppy that needs shots, cause there plan isnt bad, but just for shots. So the pup just had surgery today and is doing fine ;), and so is my wallet!

I have 3 dogs and after paying over $1800 a year and all their trumped up charges my cavalier was really sick. J had a medical text scheduled that day and had to leave my test early to get my dog into this facility I was 10 minutes late due to terribly cold weather and traffic and the doctor would see her. They wanted me to reschedule in a week! I waited for an hour and s half asking to talk to Dr Stephanie Lokken. She ignored me. I was bleeding internally from the tests but she did not care about my sick dog nor me. I tried to call the corporate number and they never called me back. I found out my dog has s heart condition and an infection!!!! Do not go there and I filing s complaint in Illinois against this vet!!

My dog was on the Wellness plan for several years. It provided exactly what it said it would: annual exams/check ups. I was always asked if I wanted any additional services so it was up to me to decide. Nothing was ever forced upon me. The staff is fantastic as well. We recently had to say good bye to our dog and Dr. Sanders along with the whole staff were extremely caring and sensitive to the situation. They had been treating my dog for years and knew her well. They even sent a condolences card after my dog passed. Very touching for them to do. Thank you Dr. Sanders and crew.

This facility IS truly out to maximize charges to customers. I sent my dog with my 16-year-old daughter and the clinic took advantage of her young age and innocence and overcharged the service. The vet unnecessarily split one office visit into two just to give a boost shot so that they can charge again for the office visit. For the one shot (plus the boost shot) that my papillon received, the total bill is well over $200. The vet that I deal with acted like a saleswoman to promote her services. Avoid this clinic as a choice for your beloved pets.

Today I had frustration in filling a routine prescription, they did not believe or try to help me when I told them I had been mislead by the employees at another location that they were all linked in the system. When all I was trying todo was fill a prescription refill. In steed I was told I could pay for another visit to have their doctors at their location do another exam, I didnt get accurate information in policies and processes from the "fully-trained" staff and will never go back there or any PetsMart.

Go to a real vet! My dog has had a heart problem her entire life. The breed has a 100% mortality due to heart failure. She was getting older and I went for an exam and some medicine to make her more comfortable (fluid in the lungs). The "Doctors" only response was to suggest a specialist for $300. She had no opinion or suggestions of how to treat this on her own. I should have known better to go back after my cats hairball required 12 x-rays at $30 a pop, but that is a different story.

We are a part of one of their wellness plans. We are on the basic one but it means so much to us to get to bring our dog in whenever we need and we know hes getting the care he deserves. They are so nice and remember us so well, they truely do care about us and our dog. Today he got a nail cut too short and began to bleed, we called and they knew exactly what to do. They are knowledgable right down to the receptionist, they treat us right, I would suggest them to any owner

Dr Sanders has been nothing but amazing. She and the staff have taken great care of me and my dog. I have always been able to get in when my dog is sick. I may have to drop her off so they can see her in between appointments but they always accommodate. They have never pushed services or anything unnecessary. If you speak to them about your concerns as you would want to be spoken to you will have no issues

Count me in as someone who foolishly got the wellness plan, and then went in for a check up to find out their overly priced examinations arent even covered (then what is?!?). I wish I checked out reviews first. Do your research and go to a real vet. Thats all I have to say. Expensive lesson learned.

The vets have always been helpful, compassionate and very informative. Dr. Sanders recently spoke to me over the phone to give me her wisdom regarding adding a second dog to the household. Support staff are cheerful, respectful and helpful as well.

For years and years we used the Banfield in Geneva and it was great, but this one is not the same. The docs are great if you can ever get in for anything. Pretty worthless unless you need something rutine.
