Yes, there is a waiting list to get in. Yes, you should get on it. Why? - Dr. Carlson is a caring, dedicated, knowledgeable vet. - She understands that you love your pet but isnt going to pressure you into one decision or another. - She understands that you know your pet best and does not brush it off if you say theyre acting strangely. - When something is wrong, they have always made time to see my cats asap. If my cat starts acting strange in the middle of the night, they take me when they open the next morning. Always. They make the time to make sure your pet is taken care of. - Dr. Carlson calls to check in and monitor your pet when theyre sick. Frequency depends on whats wrong, but in the past shes sometimes called more than once a day, to make sure my cat was still doing okay. Often these calls are well past business hours, at eight or nine at night. - Prices are reasonable! What more can you want?

I love the Howard Animal Hospital and so thankful for Dr. Barbara Carlson. My 16 year old dog Precious(e) whom passed away on 4/27/2015 has been a patient at the clinic for the 14 years that Ive had her. She originally was seeing Dr. Ball and he left which was a bit hard but Dr. Carlson became her veterinarian which made the change easy. Dr. Carlson is kind, patient and loving towards the animals. As Precious(e) got older Dr. Carlson was amazing at preparing me mentally for the changes of her health. She called me to check on Precious(e) health. She helped me with the transition of my dog and Im so grateful for her. If I ever get another pet, I would definitely continue going to Dr. Carlson for the care of my pet. Thank you Dr.Carlson for taking care of my Precious(e). ***The "e" is silent for spunk, vivaciousness and life :)

Owned and run by Dr. Barbara Carlson, not only an experienced practitioner but a warm and gentle person who treats every animal brought to her with thoughtfulness for your pets emotional, as well as physical well being. I have been a client of hers for about 16 years now and she and her well trained staff have always been wonderful to our pets. Including even trying to keep the financial costs as low as possible. She is very busy and perhaps you will need to go on a waiting list, if you are a new client, as she is very very popular, but if you acquire an extra Pet then she automatically cares for it i.e. once you are her regular client you always are. Over the past 15 plus years, our family(which included 2 cats and a dog)was cared for by Dr. Carlson and her staff.The genuine care, compassion and support we received,through all the ups and downs,could not have been better. And when I say "we" I mean the care our pets received as well the help we humans recieved!

Dr. Carlson is amazing with pets and their families. shes very caring and knowledgeable and has a pretty good staff working with her as well. Shes the best vet in Illinois, Ive been taking my dog to her since he was a puppy.

Had a great experience from years ago, thinking Ill go back. My cat loved having his teeth extracted here. Now hes going to love getting prescribed antibiotics, and thus my cat will hate me forever..
