How can All Pets Animal Hospital $36.00 exam fee cost you over $365.00? This is how it happened to me. Our cat Autumn started having milky white mucus running from her nose, she stopped eating and cleaning herself. After calling around we decided to take her to All Pets Animal Hospital a friend also said they were good and their exam fee was only $36.00. we took Autumn in on a Saturday morning, and didnt have to wait long, to be shown to an exam room, the DVM took her in back because the hair on her hind quarters was matted and needed to be clipped away. and to look into her mouth. when the DVM came back she told us that Autumn had an infection in her gums and that we needed to bring her back in a week from Monday for a teeth cleaning and possibly have one or two teeth removed, she gave us an antibiotic to give her to reduce the infection before the teeth cleaning/tooth extraction. The cost of the visit was 80 some odd dollars for the exam and antibiotics. The antibiotics did wonders for Autumn and we showed up at All Pets Animal Hospital for the teeth cleaning appointment at 7:30am and were shown to the exam room again, this time a different DVM came in, we told her that we had brought Autumn in for her teeth cleaning, she took Autumn in back, then brought her back and pronounced her healthy, "what about the infection in her gums, the teeth cleaning and possible tooth extraction?" we asked. the DVM opened her mouth and looked in it and said, "oh, my, well have to do something about that." "Yes, thats why we brought her in, for her teeth cleaning/tooth extraction." "Well, we will have to set up an appointment for that, Ill have someone come in and explain whats involved, what it will cost and set up the appointment," and she left. A nice lady came in and told us that it would cost around $89.00 for the teeth cleaning and $15.00 per tooth pulled, we got an appointment for the following Tuesday (Monday was Memorial Day) at 7:30am gave us some more antibiotic to keep the infection away and it only cost us another 80 plus dollars. When we arrived on Tuesday at 7:30am we were asked to initial a piece of paper for the $85.00 blood work fee. "$85.00 blood work fee no one told us about that! That means that it will be $174.00 instead of the $89.00 we were told." "Well, we need to put the cat out before it can have its teeth cleaned and the Dr. wont do that on a cat over 7 years old without doing the blood work first." "OK, whatever just take care of Autumn." I initialed the paper and we left Autumn to have the work done. when we returned the next day to pick up Autumn we were told that everything went well and no teeth needed to be pulled and that we owed them $205.00." "$205.00!!"! I exclaimed, "why $205.00? I thought it was $89.00 for the teeth cleaning and $85.00 for the blood work!" "Well, the teeth cleaning was only $84.00, but you still have to pay the $36.00 exam fee, so that will be $205.00 please." Thank God she said please or I might have got mad! so let us add it up $80.00 for the first visit $80.00 for the second visit and $205.00 to fix the problem for a total of $365.00. and now I cant pay rent at the beginning of next month, I know they gave my cat the best of care but they should have been more up front with their pricing and have kept the first teeth cleaning appointment, I would have saved me at least $80.00 and I could have figured out how to get the money in advance.

Secretary is very unpleasant. I got two voicemails asking to reschedule my appointment. The first call said it was a scheduling conflict and seemed willing to work on getting my dog in. The second call said it could not be helped. I understand emergencies and would have liked to reschedule. However, the secretary that I tried to reschedule with was not polite or willing to work me in. I had taken off work early, just to make the appointment I had originally scheduled on time. The secretary made it seem like it was my fault. I asked to then schedule on my day off. And was told no. If I didnt want a morning or noonish appointment I would have to wait 2 weeks to get my dog in on a Saturday. It is/was really unconvenient. Im not one to complain usually. I work in a service industry. But the lack of professionalism by the secretary and her unwillingness to work with me on getting my dog in, had me calling another vets office. At 4:30 pm the Animal Hospital on Dickson was able to schedule me for an appointment 2 days later with a time that worked for me. I truly understand emergencies, but your staff and how I was treated has me changing vets for my cat and dog.

Used staples instead of stitches on little 2 pound kittens. One incision site started looking nasty, so brought them back in for staples to be removed. When I came back to pick them up, they were just going to send all the kittens home with nothing special. I pulled out the kitten that had the bad incision site and she was bleeding, swollen, and it was looking nasty. The receptionist then said oh yes, that looks a little bad, let me check with the vet. Ended up needing ointment- big surprise. Not a lot of cross communication among members there- I wasnt impressed at all with anything about it. Although I realize the kittens I brought were coming from a shelter to get fixed before adoption- they shouldnt be treated as any less of an animal than someones pet.

Great experience from an experienced vet. Dr. Ricklefs has been the life-long vet of our large black lab. Jaz loves Dr. Ricklefs, and you can tell by the care that the feeling is mutual. Animal healthcare is expensive, but Ive never felt taken advantage of here, and looking at other vet practice prices in the area, this is the best value. Dr. Ricklefs provides top-of-the-line care for our dog and we will continue to use All Pets Animal Hospital for our vet needs. Please support this local business that gives you a personal touch to those furry family members of yours. Youll be glad to have your pets in trusting hands.

I took my little chihuahua to this vet because they had the best prices in town. I told the vet what vaccines I wanted for my dog and she ended up giving her ones I didnt ask for and charged me more than expected. But what really bugged me was when I went in, my dog was scared and cowering and the vet lady picked her up and shook her and yelled at her and when my chihuahua gave me a sad glance she said to me meanly "Dont you baby her!" and then she rough handled her when she whined about the shots and blood test. I prefer vets who like animals and treat them like they are a part of your family!

The veterinarians at All Pets are experienced professionals who truly care about your pets. We have taken both our dog and cat to Dr. Ricklefs, and we always feel confident that they are in good hands. The veterinarians attempt to find the options that are best for your pet, not just the ones that make them the most money. We had been told elsewhere that our dog needed an expensive procedure, but All Pets informed us of a variety of other options that were available. We will continue taking our pets here for the great advice and friendly service!
