We have been going to Doc Faulkner and our extended family at Ankeny Animal and Aviary for about 15 years. They have been there for the best of times and the hardest. We have had eight rescued Doberman Pinschers over the years. Docs amazing surgical skills has saved two of our girls. He helped us understand when it was time to say goodbye to my boy. The wonderful staff treats everyone like family (the good kind). Dr Barnes is a great diagnostic vet adding years to our dobies lives. Dr Gigler is an excellent vet too. But the best thing about Ankeny Animal and Aviary Clinic is the fact that they truly care about the health and lives of our "families" and seem to put that above all else. I have two Dobie girls over eleven and one over seven. One of our boys lived past thirteen. Bless them all. You couldnt find a better veterinarian or clinic.

Such a great clinic to take your beloved fur babies to! The staff is awesome and so very caring. Ive taken my dog to get her nails trimmed a few times, for a yearly check up, and just the other day for her very first dental cleaning. I was called after the procedure was done and told that she did great, and even got a picture of her texted to me after she was awake! A member of the staff explained how everything went, gave me a little packet with before and after pictures, and let me know how sweet my puppy girl was. I also got a goodie bag with a bandana, food sample, greenie, and toothbrush and paste! The staff even called me the next day to check how she was doing. I would definitely recommend bringing your pets here, so glad I tried this place first once I moved to Ankeny. I cannot say enough good things!

My first visit was this past Saturday and I was immediately greeted by extremely kind and helpful staff who seem to really care about their clients, patents and their work! The waiting room was very clean and had a nice divide between the K9 and Feline waiting area. The exam room had a big cat tree in it and toys so that my cat could explore for a bit and get more comfortable before the vet came in which I loved! They even took a picture of my guy and gave it to me on a laminated business card! The vet, Dr. Gigler was incredibly kind and easy to talk to and did a great job handling my cat. The overall experience was phenomenal and I would without a doubt recommend this to anyone in Ankeny!

I have been taking my dogs, Libby and Romeo, to this clinic for five years. I cannot say enough great things about the staff! We have always treated with Dr. Gigler and the dogs absolutely adore her, but it doesnt stop there! Every single staff member treats you like you are their only client, always going above and beyond. I am far more particular about who cares for my dogs than who cares for me...and the staff here are hands down the best people anywhere! You will NEVER find a better place to take your beloved pets! The Animal Behaviorist at the AAAC is fantastic. We have a very reactive dog that would not have done well in a group setting. Emily realized this and set up private training (for us as much as Bandit) that allowed him to be successful. Always patient, she took the time to explain what was going on in our dog’s brain, why the strategies would help, and provided feedback to help us master the skills. When we started, Bandit would lose his mind if another dog came within 50 yards. After 5 customized sessions, he was able to approach within 8 feet of another dog without reacting. Emily gets our highest recommendation.

Friendly staff, service ranges depending on who you are working with. I have never left there feeling great about my visit with our well-behaved dog, especially after the visit where they cut nails too short, making them bleed and brought her out to the front area smearing some blood on the floor and at front desk were trying to stop the bleeding. They seem to go excessively above and beyond to care for your dog, which is fine if you have a deep pocketbook. I never came out of there with less than $100 bill and ultimately had to find a vet that was both good AND halfway affordable.

Paws down the best experience at at vets office. They are so friendly and accommodating to you and your pet. They do a very good thorough exam of our dog. She had a bump on her nose the vet told us all the things it could be and where we could start for treatment. They gave our baby girl treats and loves to make her feel more comfortable. They also gave us a goodie bag for being first time clients. It was packed full of treats for our dog and us. Great place to take your pets. The price is a little high for the meds we got. But other than that it was a great place!!

Review for the dog behavioral training. After an incident with my large dog and a smaller dog it was recommended that I work with a behavioral trainer to be sure the incident wouldnt happen again. Emily Blythe was a magic worker! We worked with her for 10 weeks (2- 5 weeks sessions) and the difference in my dog is incredible. She is better able to control her impulses, she follows instruction quickly, and she is better behaved overall. I highly recommend this service if your dog has impulse control, aggression, or just needs to be taught a few manners.

I had a emergency situation happen with my dog and after calling 2 other vet clinics in Ankeny, this was the only clinic that would see me immediately. They even called in another vet just to see my dog. I was crying and not able to give them much info over the phone, but all the staff were very nice and helped my dog right away. Its not the cheapest place in Ankeny to go, but I wont go anywhere else now. My dogs check ups are thorough, more than 5 minutes, and all their staff can answer my questions. These guys care about your pet.

Emma (my dog) and I have always had good experiences when visiting Ankeny Animal & Avian Clinic. Our last experience was Thursday when I called requesting some medication for Emma. My request was on short notice as we were headed out of town. Dr Barnes returned our call quickly and the medication was ready for my son to pick up and administer to Emma during our absence. Emma has been a patient at the clinic for 11 years and has always been treated with care and compassion.. Thank you Ankeny Animal & Avian Clinic.

Best veterinarian, techs, and office staff Ive ever had! This team truly cares for the animals as if they are their own pets. They are so good with my highly anxious dog, doing whatever they can to calm him (which has not been my experience at other vets), and giving me helpful tips to try at home, as well. Dr. Giglers assessment and treatment is always very thorough, and she takes however much time is needed to address the issues. She has such a loving approach. I am so grateful to have found them!
