Awful experience. I went in for an itcy skin rash. My appt. was with the nurse practitioner. I had to undress so she could see everywhere the rash was. My chest was covered. After she had me dis-robe and saw me completely naked she said she had no idea what it was because it was in random places. So she brings in Dr. Clay who does the same thing also seeing me naked. He trys to tell me its either scabies or eczema even though it is not in the spots that scabies usually is. I tell him its not eczema because it came on so suddenly and I have never had eczema. So he tells me to hold on. Then he comes back with Dr. Dad. Now all 3 of them are looking at me completely naked. I have never felt so violated in my entire life. For a place that says they specialize in skin rashes they dont know there ass from a hole in the ground! I will never go back there after the way they made me feel. And then to top it off I received 3 different phone calls in one day all giving me a different diagnosis. I am 35 years old and I have never felt so violated in my life. I was in tears by the time I got home. I also never received a proper diagnosis. However I did receive a call in regards to my bill which I am refusing to pay after how they made me feel and because I never received a diagnosis. When I explained to the women on the phone how I felt all she said was so r u paying or not? She didnt even care. I will never go back there again.

I have been suffering with psoriasis on my feet, somedays unable to walk at all. I was seeing another dermatologist for months. The OTHER doctor was unable to correctly diagnose my problem thus unable to properly treat it. He/she was giving me tons of different creams to apply. They did not help at all and nearly every time that I went in, I started crying from disappointment and frustration. I would leave there being told to close up all the fissures on my feet with Super Glue which I started doing out of desperation. The very FIRST visit with Dr. David Shearer and he immediately knew what I had. He took no time in prescribing me the correct medication and ALSO gave me an injection THAT day of Kenalog to relieve my symptoms. Not one week later and I am WALKING pain-FREE! I could just cry from happiness that I saw this wonderful doctor. When you DO decide to see Dr. Shearer youll observe that he is a very nice person but his MAIN concern is getting right down to the problem at hand. He asks you questions about how youve been treating it up to this point and he LISTENS to your responses. He was not afraid to look closely at my feet and he also used a magnifying instrument, which seems standard but had NEVER been used on me before. He is direct and to the point. Youll LOVE the results from his (obvious) experience in this field!! Thank you Dr. Shearer. ~Michele C.

I have a skin issue thats not so common. After talking to literally 5 family doctors who said more or less that "it wasnt a big deal" and getting written off as whatever, I finally found a good family doctor who referred me to Dr. Clay Shearer. In contrast to the "dont worry about it attitude" I got from the other incompetent doctors, Dr. Shearer diagnosed my condition in literally 2 minutes if that. I had went through seven years of absolute misery and horrible pain before I could afford and find competent care. Since then, I have had zero issues with Dr. Shearers office. The suggestions and medications prescribed by Dr. Shearer have almost totally changed my life. He has done a *FANTASTIC* job with helping me manage this incurable disease. I cant thank him enough, if my insurance wouldnt cover his office, I might well pay cash. Its not just about pain management, the regimen I am on actually alleviates the biggest issues with my disease so that pain meds arent needed most of the time. I would *HIGHLY* recommend Dr. Shearer as both a quite competent dermatologist, understanding, non-judgmental, and very personable fellow. But I agree with rsdata - he is good, but also quick - dont expect a ton of happy chit-chat on the side, but a busy doctor is a good thing in my opinion.

I had to wait almost an hour for an 8:30AM appointment... I like going early and hopefully having to wait less than at the end of the day... however, in the last thirty years of visiting doctors offices of all kinds, I have to say I almost always have to wait at least 15-30 minutes after the appointed time, no matter what time of day... on this day at Dr. Shearers I think they misplaced my file, and when I pointed out the problem after waiting nearly 40 minutes, I was with the doctor in about 15 more minutes. Dr. Shearer answered my questions, and performed his clinical work. He was pleasant in his conversations with me and I felt like he knew what he was talking about. I was satisfied with his time, but yes he did leave quickly after he was done. I suspect his full waiting room had something to do with that. However... the other dermatology doctor to which I was refered, also in Florence, had a 6 month waiting list... so I went to Dr. Shearer and only had to wait about 5 weeks for an appointment. I will go again if necessary.

You can have a full body check for $40 if covered by your insurer and the doctor will quickly identify any freckles or moles that are cancer or need to be removed - Even with removals it only takes a few minutes. Great staff, fast, skilled and professional. The team is kind and caring but know their business and move quickly so dont be put off by their fast pace. My husband simply doesnt go to doctors .. NEVER.. but I got him into this doctor and he goes ever 3 months to have "pre-cancerous" moles/spots removed and thank goodness we got him in there in the first place. I am sure his life was saved and we continue to get about 5 removed each visit until they stop finding what are called Squamous Cells - Highly recommended - Location right off of US 25 on Mt. Zion and right next to off/onramp to I75. Dont wait another day!

I was a new patient but they got me in asap; even tho there was 20 people in the lobby. I wasnt in the examining room 5 min before he cmame into see me. He said my moles were not cancerous so basicaly he was just going to freeze them off. All of my other moles were cut off by other derms in the past. Ive only had warts frozen off. Let me just say that I screamed & cried all the way home. I was hyperventalating and a hysterical mess by the time i got home. Its been a horrible day; I wish I had been prepared. Other than that? things were good I guess

Dont see the Dad. Hes a hack. I was seeing the NP and developed discoloration on my leg and ankles from medication. When she asked him in for an opinion regarding the spots on my leg he said the place on my leg needed to come off. I could tell she didnt agree but did it anyway. They sent me on my way with no instructions on how to care for the wound which was fairly deep. It has left a large, ugly, brown, discolored spot on my leg which always feels like a bruise and is tender to the touch. I wish I had never gone there.
