The Wilmer, and Hopkins in general, are over-rated. Had 3 operations on my eye, each time promising me that everything went very, very well and I would see almost perfectly. Not so; for the most part, I see horribly, not much better than before the first operation. And it is not just one doctor, I had a different doctors for each operation. At least the first had a great bed-side manner, the second was OK, the third treated me like I wasnt human. Clearly a case of treating (and poorly at that) the problem rather than the patient. One op was for a routine cateract. I was told that Hopkins refuses to use the new flexible crystal lens and gave me an old technology one. BIG MISTAKE. Everyone who I know that had the crystal lens is happy, whereas my vision is lousy. It has great doctors (supposedly), but they are researchers. Clinically they are indifferent. The support staff at Hopkins is mediocre, some good of course, but far too many seem to hate their jobs and to not like patients. Also be prepared to get lost in the complexity of their physical plant and absolutely be prepared to WAIT. I had a 10:00 am appointment and finally saw the doctor at 1:30pm. Hopkins has a "halo" effect in its ratings that needs to come crashing down.

Some people are satisfied and some people are never satisfied, Im not one of those people that can never be pleased, in fact the services that I received on my eye was exactly what I expected no shocking surprises and no uncertainties, the two Ophthalmologists and the Cornea Specialist told me prior to the operation that todays technology couldnt improve my sight because of the severity of the eye accident that impaired my vision, however the plan was to keep my eye from getting worse and they did exactly what they planned and all I have to do is protect and prevent another serious eye accident...GOOD JOB!!!

I took my father to Wilmer to do an eye examination for redness. The doctor typed the diagnosis and gave us a print-out; there was little oral explanation about what to do, nor a prescription, as if we should simply read it. It was costly and worst of all, I was given a voice message number to request for an itemized receipt. After leaving five voice messages and waiting for several days, I still received no response. Worst experience ever. Totally disappointed

As a regular patient in the Retinal clinic, I can say that thus far I have been spared worsening vision. My retinal specialist is caring, learned, and very professional. She keeps on top of my issues with digital retinal imaging twice per year. She is in contact with my diabetic endocrinologist as well. I have come to trust her implicitly and am very satisfied with my ongoing care and monitoring.

The attendant / representative here is very rude. When I was calling them to make an appointment, they asked me sensitive information such as race, ethnicity, and even citizenship. All other clinics or hospitals do not require such info to make an appointment. In addition, the appointment day was so late that I doubt they pretend to be "booked up".

Saved my moms eye site. She went to Wills Eye first and they missed a small hole in her retina. Fortunately my father took her to Wilmers for a second opinion.
