I am surprised at all the positive comments - but I am not afraid to speak the TRUTH about MY experience! In my experience with him, he was Condescending, non-caring with zero empathy for my concern about my bleeding itchy face and full of himself with his comments about what he was seeing on me (which ended up being incorrect!) & never looked me in the eye. Needlessly put me through a week long allergy patch test! And totally misdiagnosed me as having Rosacea & told me I was "causing the bumps myself!" Looks nothing like Rosacea! (And the sores were also on my wrists, tops of feet, back, top of thigh, neck). Later, when I chose a different dermatologist I was diagnosed at Johns Hopkins Hospital dermatology dept. with painful neurodermatitis! My Nerves cause itching which causes the skin condition!!! Lichen chronicus something or other is another term for it from stress! NO PATCH TEST NECESSARY!!!! I was prescribed a special Gabapentin containing prescription compounding cream which works wonders, thank God! No thanks to being sent away from Dr. Gunnings office still in facial pain, with bleeding sores on my face with no help and a wrong diagnosis after being talked down to. Definitely not looking out for the patients best interests!

Dr. Gunning is "Great", his staff on the other hand is a different story. I do not like listening to the staffs personal grievances with other employers or their own personal affairs. Makes the waiting room very uncomfortable and unprofessional. The staff also lacks efficient time to address the needs of the patient. For instance, telling the patient lab paper work is ready... whereas this is not the case. I have an extremely painful right knee which, will be replaced this month and I do not have time for inefficiency. In addition, I really dislike the hold time when I call the office.To be honest I would stop coming, if it were not for Dr. Gunnings Assistant, Christine and Dr. Gunning. Both my wife and I use Dr. Gunning. I agree with the older review that his office staff is very nice and helpful. But we also found Dr. Gunning to be very competent and fully professional. He takes the time to do a thorough exam and makes recommendations based on his findings. He has never ordered any additional unnecessary procedures nor does he prescribe anything he feels is unwarranted. There are some highly advertised procedures which Im sure would cost plenty but when we asked about them, he clearly explained why he felt they were unnecessary, could do more harm than good, and were not appropriate for all the conditions as advertised. In addition to his professionalism, he is warm and friendly and makes the visit a pleasure. We will continue using Dr. Gunning and do recommend him!

The doctor was very friendly, personable, and knew what he was doing. I would highly reccomend him to anyone. On the other hand the receptionists at the desk were very unprofessional, one day there and was doing nothing and the other just sat there looking at me while I stood there waiting. When she finally asked if she could help me, her demeanor indicated that I was disturbing her hiatus. When I finally got to the back the m.a or nurse there didnt introduce herself ,so I dont know what she was. She leaned on the counter in the room, and proceeded to ask questions. Then she left the room. If you dont mind crass and unfriendly wait staff then by all means visit. The doctor himself is worth it! My rating is for the doctor not his help.

The best part of the experience was the office staff. They were generally helpful and respectful. As for Dr.Gunning, he spent little time listening to the problem and was prone to jumping forward to his conclusions. Hes also one to order tests for obvious ailments, demand unncecessary followups, and prescribe medicine for less than full term so he can get you back in the office for more check ups. I think hes fine for diagnosing general issues; hes certainly competent. But he seems like hes in it for all the procedures he can order. I would not count on him to look out for your best interest, which is why Ill be looking for a new doctor.

Ive been going to Dr Gunning since his began opened in Pikesville maybe 7 years ago. I find him to be very competent and caring....and often funny. He is however straight to the point and doesnt mince words. I look for thoroughness in a physician and I find it in him. Hes not your best friend but he will have your best interest in hand. I also found his staff to be pleasant and competent. Hes changed the atmosphere in the last few years to the level of professionalism it should be. Thus Im pleased.

I have much respect and admiration for Dr. Gunning. If it wasnt for his attention to details. I would probably still be walking around with a cancerous tumor in my ear. I was told by an Oncologist that most skilled Drs including himself-would have missed it. However, Dr Gunning expertise and skill did not miss a beat and I am forever grateful. I would refer him to my friends and family also I will continue to be a patient........Thank you Dr. Gunning!!!!

I think he is the best that I have come across. If you do & take the medicine he prescribes you wont have any problems, but if you know more than he does, why go to him! I used to go to a doctor in Laurel, md, and he kept you coming back & coming back to collect more money before he decided to prescribe the right prescription. This Dr is on Balt ave, please do not use that doctor!

Dr. Gunning from the first day I met him was excellent. Hes clearly well trained and knows what he is doing. The reason I gave him 4 stars is that he has very mediocre staff at best. The girls in his front office can be rather unprofessional, unwilling to help and rude at times. If you dont want the job, please move over and allow other more competent people to take your place.

Dr. Gunning is perfectly fine, but his office is absolutely incompetent. They lost my referral four times, didnt send it to my insurance company, and caused me numerous problems with collection agencies, to the tune of $300. I will absolutely not be returning to the office run by voodoo and shrugs.
