I am very disappointed with this Pediatric Dentist. My first visit with my daughter, who was 3 at the time was great! She got her teeth cleaned with me in the room with her, I was able to talk her through it, she did great. My daughter was the patient of Dr. Carrico. I was made aware that my daughter had two cavities that needed to be filled. I knew previously that she had these cavities, that is why we brought her to the dentist. Dr. Carrico and I had discussed that I would stay in the room for the fillings. Today, my daughter had her appointment to do one of the two fillings. They called her back to the room and of coarse I followed. When we got to the room, Dr. Carrico came in and said, "we are all set, you can go and wait in the waiting room now". I then told her that we had previously discussed that I would stay in the room with my daughter during the fillings. Dr. Carrico then said, "you can stay in here as long as you are a "SILENT OBSERVER". I understand that some parents may distract the child, but I know my child better than the Dr. and I know how to handle her if she gets upset. Well, I stayed in the room and they began. It came down to my daughter was extremely afraid and in a lot of pain, so, for her protection they strapped her down. Dr. Carrico repeatedly told me that little kids this age should never go through this. I understand, I messed up as a parent, it is my fault and I take the blame for it. But she did not need to say it repeatedly. I do not recommend this dentist because #1 They do not support the parent being in the room during anything. #2 When I already felt bad about my daughter having to go through this, the Dr. continued to make me feel worse. #3 The Dr. should have allowed more participation on my part to help calm her down during the procedure. #4 They do not really work with you on payments. I have to pay over $450 within a month of the appointment when other dentists allow a payment plan.

My son has been a patient of this practice since he was 3 years old. We have nothing but rave reviews to share! The Doctors and staff are appropriate and professional with the parents, yet customize their approach to each child; accommodating their needs and anxieties. They are true professionals and were able to accomplish things with my child that I would have thought would have been difficult. Not only did they perform each dental necessity, he left with a smile and anxious to return for another visit. In fact, their waiting room is so inviting and welcoming, I have trouble getting him to leave each visit! I recommend this practice to anyone with children. I know that creating good habits is so important to their overall health and Dr. Hale and Dr. Carrico help you do that without fear, judgements, or hesitation. There has never been a doubt in my mind that this is the best place for my child to receive dental care!!!! Go there...you wont regret it!!!!!!!

I was referred here through a family member. The hygentists are good enough, however Dr Carrico is not. I was very disappointed watching the way she spoke to my daughter when she was filling her cavity. My daughter had a few cavities filled before and by a different dentist and she didnt so much as shed a tear. She is 5 and has articulated that "Dr Carrico hurts". When I mentioned that I will be bringing my daughter to my previous dentist for all dental work, she was very dismissive, and rather annoyed that I did not appreciate her way of practice. This is a sign of a poor clinician. An excellent clinician would ask how they may be able to accommodate and perhaps learn a less torturous way of treating children. Unfortunately, she is not open for thoughts of improvement, she knows more that any parent, and frankly according to her demeanor, she also knows more than other dentists, as well. Its a shame, I feel bad for her patients.

My wife and I took our 2 boys to Hale & Carrico to have some dental work done. Our oldest is special needs and Hale & Carrico were highly recommended. Our youngest had some cavities that needed to be filled. First two appointments were ok, 3rd appointment we had to cancel due to the fact the kids were in school. Four mounts later we receive a letter from Hale & Carrico that stated, "It is the philosophy of our practice that all patients complete necessary treatment as well as receive care on a biannual basis in order to assure optimal dental health. Your failure to comply with treatment recommendations make it necessary for us to discontinue accepting your children as patients." So we will not be returning to or referring them.

While I dont question Dr. Hales professional ability as a pediatric dentist, his mannerism and the way he goes about patient care could certainly be improved. I dared to ask a simple, general question and was given a completely sarcastic and condescending answer. While Im a very intelligent person, Im not a pediatric dentist, so forgive me. I found him abrupt, unclear, and unpleasant. While we may return to the practice, we wont be seeing Dr. Hale again. Im editing this post (originally 2 stars) because we returned to the practice and saw Dr. Carrico. She was wonderful; very kind, gentle, and helpful. Quite an opposite experience from the first visit. I would definitely recommend her, without hesitation, to any parent looking for a dentist in the area.

I just cant say enough how grateful I am for Dr. Radtke. My toddler needed to have cavities filled and a cap put on another. She gave us many options for how to treat it along with a list of pros and cons for each. I decided to take the least invasive option of laughing gas and local anesthetic. From my research and speaking with other moms it seems many kids go under general anesthesia at a hospital! Eek! I am so glad she has the patience to proceed with a less invasive option split into two visits. I felt that really showed her dedication to children and skill as a dentist. My son was happy when he left and excited for the new toy he got. I can tell he will not be afraid to return.

My two sons have been going to Hale & Carrico Pediatric Dentistry for about five years now. We all love it there. The staff is polite, caring and very helpful. My boys who are usually very hesitant to leave my side, feel very comfortable and at easy in the office. When they are called back for their appointment, the boys go without any delay. Each visit is ended with a brief conversation with the doctor. This helps me to truly understand how my kids are doing and lets me know of any recommendations they have for me or my boys between visits. I have and will continue to recommend their office to any parent looking for a pediatric dentist.

We took my son here he needed a tooth pulled. ( their had been trama to it). ( he was 4.5) They said they didnt have any appointment times to be able to sedate him. So after he got numbed up I had to hold him down. I was assured this was only going to take a second. Apparently there was a tooth fragment that the dentist could not get, he was jamming the tool up into my sons gums while looking for the fragment. My sons screaming in pain. The dentist said he doesnt feel pain only pressure. It was horrible. 1.5 later ( thats how long it took to get my son to step foot in a dentist office again) we went back to a different dentist.
