Dr. Wilson i love and resuce cats and love dogs too. D.A.H. are so very wonderful! Dr. Wilson we welcome with love for the heart, care and warmth he gives to me and my zoo! The WHOLE staff are so above and beyond to take care of every need and thinks of you too not just my pet. i have been with D.A.H. for many years and Dr. Butts/Dr. Butts lol were awesome as well and so deserve to enjoy life now for what they have done for our community of families with family pets!!! i recently took my 12 year old cat "cracker" there for dental. it was a severe case of gingavitis. so Dr, Wilson performed an amazing detailed cleaning of her teeth and we were hoping that would do it. lol her teeth looked brand new. few weeks later payne came back and back she went to Dr. Wilson. He then performed the removal of all her teeth seeing that the gingavitis was more servere. recovery on that surgery was very hard on cracker with a wire in mouth (needed) that she was not happy. so she went back to Dr. Wilson. lol then he went with tube feeding and comforted her mouth inside. they kept her for a week!!!! meant the world to me - they never hestitated to take care of her always took her in and tubing feeding was a 7a.m. to 6 p.m. every hour feeding. one of Dr. Wilsons assitance "Michelle" demonstrated the procedure for me to do now that cracker was coming home. so the time she was there for tube feeding every hour they all were loving her while feeding and they said she was just a purrrrring and very content. well the next day i was not comfortable and cracker wasnt happy with a couple concerns about her mouth inside and the feeding tube. so we went back to see our BEST FRIEND Dr. Wilson! Elena and Mary and the rest of the ladies up front consoled me for they new it was hard on me and they didnt even know my personal life which is way busy and cant say no to anyone. lol i so over commit to help . what they did for me that friday morning was the best blessing i have had in a few months! THANK YOU THANK YOU!! once again they took her in for another week and this time Dr. Wilson took care of my invoice!! WOW- so forever thankful :) Dr. Wilson and his staff are the best ever !! May God Always take of you for you take care of me and my petting zoo! love and more love - mel

UPDATE: Just for customers to know. After I posted my review and got a friendly answer, I got a letter on the mail saying that my account is permanently inactive. I believe this to be unethical and bad business relationship. But anyway, take it however you like. As I said in my review, when working with people and animals we always depend on the situations in the day, the emotional state of both animals and people, the believes and practices. If you are thinking of writing a review, now you know they might break up with you. Each experience is different and I understand that the criteria of the staff also depends on the emotional states of individuals. So take my experience as one of the many here shared and decide if this is a good place for you and your pets. I believe that it all depends, nothing is totally right or wrong. My biggest complain is that since the first time I took my pet there some years ago, they took him to a back room without me and without knowing or asking who and how my dog is. I have no idea what happened there but they label my dog as aggressive and dangerous. Note that my dog has never bit or attack. He is insecure. Second time I took they did the same, took him to the back and who knows what happens but now my dog is not allowed treatment there. I have taken my dog to other vets and a more careful practice has been to not remove the dog from my presence. That keeps him calm and confident. The staff at the Dowagiac Animal Center said they needed to take him away in case he vomits with the vaccines. In the other places he has been I have asked and they simply say "well if he vomits here or there we still need to clean so it is the same". I also would like to note that my dogs stays at kennels and takes baths with staff at pet shops without me being present and he has not been aggressive or dangerous. So this might be just bad luck or a bad experience for both the dog and the people at the hospital at that time. Anyway you as a customer should know. I am sure the people at this hospital are trained and educated well, and some practices might just spark behaviors that in other context would not appear. Hope this helps customers take an informed decision.

This is a wonderful country vet. The doctors here are great and have earned my trust and respect over the last 20 years. I recently came to know Dr. Wilson when my cat had to have a perineal urethrostomy. What started out as what we thought to be an easy fix ended up being a three week long complicated endeavor. However, I couldnt have done it without Dr. Wilson and the staff at Dowagiac Animal Hospital. I truly felt like Dr. Wilson had our best interest in mind and that he was just as attached to my Octopuss as I am. The surgery was a great success and by the time it was all over I felt like a celebrity when I would come in with my kitty. The staff even called me on days they didnt see us to check up on the patient. I am eternally grateful to EVERYONE at the clinic for all they did to save my special friend, and return him to the purrbox I know and love. Thank you so much!

My pets have been patients at Dowagiac Animal Hospital for many years and I met Dr. Wilson for the first time on 03/14/13. Our adopted from the shelter and unknown to us pregnant dog was unable to have her puppies without help. We were given the information needed to make decisions and did not feel rushed or pressured even though it was closing time. All of the staff were wonderfully kind to us while we waited through the c-section. We were given all the information needed to keep our mom and puppies healthy and have appeciated the phone calls to make sure all is going well. Even though it was a stressfull situation for us it was also a very positive experience. Dr. Wilson was knowledgable, compassionate, professional and very patient with us. We are very thankful for the wonderful care of our family, both two and four legged.

The front office manager Leah really knows her job and is very friendly and compassionate. I have had Danielle as a tech several times and she is great with my baby girl Mina. I loved Dr. Dave who is gone now, but when Mina was badly injured Dr. Wilson was kind enough to do surgery on her immediately so she could go home with me and we wouldnt have to be separated all night as she is my cuddle buddy. Ive been very happy with the service here. Prices are very reasonable too. As for complaints about people who say the office wont do anything to their pets without them having funds available, where can you go that just says sure we will do a $500 surgery and if you cant pay us thats just fine? I dont know of anybody you go to who does not expect payment at time of service.
