My family has been bringing animals here since I can remember. My childhood dog was given an extra, happy year of life because of the veterinarians here. I have now taken 3 kitties here, and my current kitty, who is generally terrified of new people, does very well with the staff here. She is not a fan of being picked up or carried, and yet when the staff here picks her up, she seems to feel safe. I appreciate that not only do my animals receive amazing care and feel secure here, but my questions are answered and I am confident that I have the tools to provide the best care for my pet. Its a good feeling to know that if she seems to be feeling a little out of sorts, I have somewhere I can count on to get her the help she needs. I send everyone I know to this office who are pet parents. No one I have sent there has ever been disappointed in the care they have received. Several years ago when my cousin and her roommmate got a pair of kittens free and had them spayed and neutered at a different office who offered a discounted rate, we discovered that office had done the proceedure far too early. The kittens were lethargic and became extremely dehydrated. Kalamazoo Animal Hospital was able to save them and my cousins cat lived a long, well loved and comfortable life. She is now also a regular visitor of this office with her other animals. I really just cant say enough kind things about the staff here. I just wish my doctora office was as nice as my cats!

The practice of the doctors at this office are very unprofessional, avoid communicating directly to the owner of the pet, and seem to hide whats really happening in the back of the office. My first red flag was when they did not want to draw blood in the room while I was there. They insisted on taking my dog to the back. I allowed them to do this - and what a HUGE mistake that was. Let me just say that I have a german shepherd mix who is the sweetest and most gentle dog with everyone, including children! They muzzled and tortured my dog in the back of the office and neglected to tell me about it. I only found out months later when I requested a copy of my vet records (where it had been noted in fine print). I realize a german shepherd may seem like a scary breed to work with - but as a vet you are resonpible for letting the owner of a pet know everything that is done with their dog, there should be no secrets! My shepherd has a history of abuse and muzzling him only brings up back memories for him - he would have been fine if he was in the room with me. WARNING TO PET OWNERS: Always fight for your pets rights - they cannot speak for themself!

I love this veterinary hospital! They genuinely care about their patients, and are very knowledgeable. They get along great with all my pets - even those that have been "challenging" to take to the vet in the past. They can easily refer you to the emergency and 24 hour care center owned by the same people if you are in need of urgent or 24 hour care. They discuss all your options with you, and are always up front about charges. I have very high standards when it comes to my babies. I have one pet now in need of intensive care for a chronic condition, one elderly pet who is challenged by a variety of age related concerns, as well as other pets who are in their prime. I have been very pleased with the care that all of my pets with their varying levels of necessary care have received. My healthy pets are never required to have anything that isnt really needed, and my less healthy pets are offered all the latest care available! The staff is always willing and able to accommodate my requests. I highly recommend them for all your veterinary needs!

I have received nothing but excellent service from Dr. Kautzer and every other member of the staff at Kalamazoo Animal Hospital in treating my cat who has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Dr. Kautzer was very thorough during our follow-up phone calls when she explained my cats condition to me and gave me several options on how to treat my pet, and I could readily tell that she is an individual who truly cares about her patients and her clients. KAH has been very transparent and understanding with me in terms of the cost of veterinary care and we are able to work everything out on a schedule that suits my financial situation. Overall, I am proud to say that my cat is a patient of Dr. Kautzer and that we are clients of Kalamazoo Animal Hospital, and this review comes with the highest recommendation to those looking for a new veterinarian for their pet.

The Kalamazoo Animal Hospital has been my vet for almost two decades now. They were faithfully attentive and sensitive whenever i had a reason to bring my cat in. When Min got acute kidney failure from the Iams pet food recall, they didnt give up, but rather worked with me and saved her life, and worked with me through all the nuances of treatment and diet over the years so that we had many long years together before her decline in old age. When she passed, they sent me the most beautiful bouquet and a card signed with special messages by all of their staff. I cannot tell you how important it is to have a vet with heart. Now I have a new baby, (Niko the kitty) and I wouldnt think of taking him anywhere else. Dr. Kautzer is amazing. Thank you for being there for us all these years, KAH. You mean the world to us!

My girlfriend took our dog for teeth extraction consultation. The vet she met with gave her a very hard time about taking our pet somewhere else. He kept saying that if it was his pet he wouldnt have done that over & over again. Apparently he was so focused on that, he miscounted how many teeth the pet needed extracted (4, he counted 2). My girlfriend left there very upset because he made her feel that she doesnt care about the dog. We had nothing but good experience there in the past. But this behavior is very unprofessional & inexcusable. To make matters worse, I sent a message to the business through their website five days ago, but heard no response. We will definitely not be going back there again.

Spot is my first pet that I get to take care of ALL BY MYSELF! I adopted him from the SPCA and was advised that I needed to take him in for a wellness check "just in case." I didnt know where to go and after searching the world wide web, I stumbled upon the Kalamazoo Animal Hospital. Not only did someone respond to my email full of questions within 24 hours, but they were able to schedule an appointment on very short notice. Spot and mys first visit was so great! Everyone, including the other visitors, were so sweet, patient and helpful. Our veterinarian answered all of my questions thoroughly and made sure I felt comfortable. Thank you so much, I will ALWAYS go to KAH!

This group of conscientious professionals are amazing. I am other abled and have had three service animals for which they have provided care. The first one was Daisy; I rescued her from an abusive situation. She became very ill and they nurtured us through the process of her euthenization. The second was Nalla, also a rescue. Having extremely strained resources they formatted a plan of care of which met my budget. Now is Sherman; I cant say enough nice things about this group of faithful servants. I find it a privilege to recommend them to anyone who requires veterinary care.
