WOW...I am very shocked to see these reviews. I have been going to Madison since 1999. I also drive the distance to get there. I DONT want to go anywhere else. I am sad to feel that everyone just does reviews to beat businesses down. I will say I know they have been a company since 1973 or 1972...I dont know for sure but, either way....take a look for a moment...what a total of... 16 reviews.... for this business since 1973?? That does NOT make sense to me, besides people only complain when it is bad. Never giving compliments as often as they should. I can not imagine that any business can stay open for as long as they have with out being good. I will also say I am scared to death to open my own business if this is what I have to deal with. I will say that I too have had issues with Madison, but I can also say that they are fixed or resolved in an acceptable time frame. Everyone seems to care. I know about those "Health Packages" that a previous reviewer wrote....what I can say is...I have been on them and off them with my dog. What I understand for me is... it is very hard to have $200.00 to walk in and get heartworm prevention and exam and whatever else...I personally live pay check to pay check...I have learned that It is better for me to pay monthly then large sums at once. Its what feels right for you. As an avid client since 1999, that I can also share that through the years I have seen staff come and go but what I always see is how they always stick with the times.....my example....I started with paper post card reminders and some letters to remind me when shots are due, then they moved to getting emails, I know get (instead of a paper post card) a pic they took of my awesome golden "Sam" (I love him sooo much!!!) and now....I get freaking texts!!!! Its great!!! Last, I still thinking everyone is sooo nice there no matter who I may be dealing with, my sam loves going there!! From appointments, to boarding...its the place I take always take Sam!!!

Last week I posted a very unpleasant review about MVH. This review was based on an office visit I had with my 4 y/o dog back in August 2015 involving a series of blunders ranging from a known diagnosis that no one had ever previously made me aware, along with a conflict regarding vaccinations, their health plan, and a very condescending technicians. That day I was truly taken aback because I have always had nothing but top-rated service with MVH. In addition, my little doggy likes it there. The review I posted was a very low rating because my complaint had been issued well over a month ago, and no resolution or call back had been received. Fortunately, this matter was resolved today, and I have agreed to remain with MVH. The delay in resolving this matter was due to a staff member who had been out ill. I thank Cindy for taking the time to listen to my concerns and to investigate them. I also give Kudos to MVH because very few in the service industry would have taken the initiative to bring resolution at the level in which they did, along with providing certain contingencies. For this reason, I am re-writing my review and changing my rating to a 5-Star for the following reasons: (1) As previously mentioned, I have always received top-rates service from MVH; (2) I like the doctors at MVH; (3) Have always found MVH to be a very good veterinary clinic; (4) my little doggy loves it there and practically drags me in the front door when we arrive for her visit; and (5) their willingness to resolve the issue that occurred in August with such diligence and restitution.

The place is a total scam. We dropped of our dog to be boarded for the weekend while going out of town, only to have the "ward manager" call us 20 minutes later saying that his ears were severely inflamed and that he needed a head-to-toe exam, ear cytology and antibiotics. He looked perfectly normal when we dropped him off and noticed no signs of infection but we reluctantly agreed since we were going to be gone and couldnt be 100% sure there wasnt anything abnormal. I spoke with the doctor to ask regarding the clinical utility of the cytology exam because most likely our dog would be started on broad-spectrum antibiotics but he assured me it was necessary to determine whether the infection was bacterial or fungal. When we picked him up they gave us a report with the cytology exam that gave no actual information regarding his specific infection type and his ears were not inflamed at all. Furthermore the medication our dog was started on was both an antifungal and antibiotic eardrop, making the "necessary" cytology exam completely pointless. Also, we found out that we were being charged for each application of medication during his stay, something that was conveniently left out when we originally spoke with the ward manager as to what his whole exam and treatment course would cost. Also, be aware that if you have your pet boarded there for a weekend, they just happened to be closed on Sundays so you must pay an extra day to have him boarded until Monday.

I will simply reiterate what others have written below. This clinic pushes many items that are not necessary. They do seek out problems that, to my wife and I, seem to do more to add to their bottom line ($$$$) they to the overall well-being of pets. We also were told that our two-year-old dog needed her teeth cleaned. The cost: $400. We passed. After looking around a bit, we have determined that they charge as much as twice the going rate of other vets for shots. While the people there are all nice, they do try to push their "wellness packages" (not sure what the exact terminology they use here) so you in essence pre-pay for shots, check-ups, etc. They tout the savings you will get by doing paying for a package of services in advance...but on further checking, the savings are based on their bloated prices, and going with other vets and paying for what your pet needs when they need it still turns out to be at a lower cost. We started going to this clinic a few years back when we got a new puppy and shots and the first couple of vet visits to Madison Vet Hospital were included. Of course, like any pet owner, we want to make sure our dogs are healthy and well-taken care of. That is not the issue here, the are competent in their care. The issue is money. We will no longer go to this clinic as we just cant afford the cost any more.

Avoid this place! My dog had an extremely bad tooth abscess and they sent me home with antibiotics and told me to wait a week so that my dog wouldnt go septic. Worse off they gave her a shot of Clavamox and didnt realize that she was allergic to it. When I called back the next morning and told them that my dog could barely breath and her entire head was swollen with both eyes swollen shut they told me that I might want to bring her in for a WBC and fluid sample! My common sense kicked in and I took her to another vet. As soon as the other vet saw her she told me she was having an allergic reaction to the Clavamox, did a WBC count and could tell that she had an infection. After a cortisone shot the swelling came down and the tooth was removed the same day with all the infection drained out. My dog is thankfully back to normal. Madison didnt even call to check on my dog nor will they call me back to talk about the poor service. This place is a total scam. They dont care about your pet just your pocket book. After thinking about it they probably made up the story about my dog going septic because they were booked for 7 days and didnt want to loose my business. NEVER GOING BACK.
