FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS I HAVE THE HOPE OF GETTING MY LIFE BACK!….my pulmonary health has not been good for a very long time so this was not my first stay at Select Specialty Hospital of Saginaw. I cannot say enough good about the entire staff of nurses, doctors, therapists and CENAs. When I was having a bad day, nurses would take the time to sit on my bed, even though I knew they had other patients to take care of, listened to me and made me feel so much better. I thoroughly enjoyed my interactions with the staff. They made me laugh and I will truly miss them and have promised to come back but ONLY FOR A VISIT! This is not to say that everything was perfect throughout my entire stay but that is to be expected. Call lights could have been answered a little more quickly and I feel like stronger pain medications than Tylenol would have helped to control my pain more. There was only one nurse and one doctor that I did not like so if they were out of the equation, this hospital could not be any better! Lastly, I would like to thank Select for finding me a new pulmonology team! They are AMAZING and I now have the hope of living a longer and much healthier life now that they are on my case! This team of pulmonologists (Dr. Kanjwal, Dr. Kambali, Alex Anderson, PA-C and Shawna Nievierowski) took the time to review ALL of my medical records from years past and discovered the underlying issue that had been causing me to be rehospitalized and now we have a plan to get this corrected! I have to say that I felt as though they knew me better than my pulmonologist that has been treating me for years! He had told me that my lungs would only last a couple of more years! I am a young grandmother and that has been a heavy weight on my heart. However, my new team told me to put those statements right out of my mind because they believe that I will be able to undergo a procedure in the near future that will allow me to watch my grandchildren grow up! I am forever grateful! A huge thank you to Select Specialty Hospital for listening to my concerns and asking this group of pulmonologists to take on my case! If you or any one you know is in need of specialty care like I was, I would recommend this hospital.

Professional....considerate....personable. On May 11, 2017 I experienced some serious health care issues that required an extended period of hospitalizations and a rehabilitation stay. I consider myself to have been very fortunate to have been cared for at Covenant Health Care, Select Specialty Hospital and Covenant Rehabilitation. It is important to me that I express my gratitude at the outstanding care delivered by all those involved in my case. A few special "stand outs" would be Lena, Ruben and Jackie. They are all Rns at Select Specialty Hospital. In addition, a special thank you to Kim, Kelly and John the therapy team "task-masters" that motivated me to be up and moving daily! I truly wish that I could remember everyones name that made me feel "at home" in a place that is difficult to enjoy. From the physicians, nurses, other staff, dieticians to housekeepers all interacted and engaged with my goofy personality. You have no idea how this really kept my mind off of where I was at....sick in a hospital bed! I would recommend Select Specialty Hospital, Covenant Health Care and Covenant Rehab to anyone who needs to utilize the continuum of care!

HOPE…POSITIVITY…COMPASSION. These are just a few of the words I would use to describe the environment of this hospital. Was it perfect? No. No hospital is. However, my 1st interaction with Select was a positive one. Michelle McTaggart took the time to listen to my story and immediately began making phone calls to assist in getting my husband closer to home. I cannot thank her enough. From the moment George was moved to Select, all of the staff was so hopeful and compassionate. It was a vast difference from the negativity and naysayers at the other hospital he was at. In fact, they treated him as if he was one of their own family members and I have told the many people that have visited us or asked about his recovery that the staff at Select does not treat him like a number. Dr. Amin was so very caring and spoke to me like I was his equal and explained things in a way I could understand. To the additional staff members that impacted us, I say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Kay, Jackie, Andrea, Lena, Kathy, Steve, Sarah, Emily and Antonina….your genuine care and compassion did not go unnoticed. I would highly recommend this hospital!

This hospital continuously violated my mothers rights. They also almost killed her with a medicine they were administering and, after we brought the bad drug interaction to their attention they gave it to her again. The hospital stifled her desire to make decisions of medical and legal nature though they had no right to do so. The doctors follow the business above their medical responibilities. The hospital is under equipped. Only 3 cardiac chairs for The entire hospital. They let q woman die and her family grieve while my mother laid in a bed next to her. They werent going to allow us in to ur with mom while this was happening but we insisted. Some of the staff are very rude and have no qualmes about telling you falsehoods if they think it is what you want to hear or fits their legal and operational needs. She also contracted several infections here. they are slow to respond and we had to take upon routine nursing tasks. I believe she was in danger here. No physical therapy on the weekends and other types of care slow to a snail pace. I would avoid select specialty hospital at all costs.

My brother had to come here for extended care and I didnt know what to expect. Everyone was so nice and professional. The hospital was very clean and everyone seemed to be aware of the need to exercise appropriate hand washing. This was very important to me as the other hospitals he had been in, did not. I would like to extend a special "thank you" to Michelle McTaggart for lifting the "elephant" off my chest! She helped me navigate the healthcare system to assure that I could help my brother get his disability benefits. I couldnt have done it without her. She was truly a "godsend". There is a nice hospitality house on campus called the McNally House and it is clean and very reasonably priced for patient families to stay if they are miles away from Select. I was so impressed with Stacey, the CNA. She was with my brother a lot and always had a positive attitude. Tanika Severs was so very helpful and a wonderful advocate on my brothers behalf working with his insurance company.

My Mom came to the Select Saginaw facility after being in ICU at Beaumont Hospital for over 5 weeks. She was in rough shape, recovering from many surgeries, not able to do anything on her own and still in quite a fog neurologically after a horrendous bike accident. The staff at Select treated her with great care from the get-go. By the time she left after almost 7 weeks she was farther along in her recovery than anyone had predicted, thanks in no small part to the wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff at Select. One area where Select stands out is in Customer Service. We had a few issues early on with the night staff not being very friendly and attentive, but the Select leadership team stepped right up to ensure things were made right. Even after my Mom left the facility, Michelle on the Select leadership team helped us liaise with the nurses and doctors to remedy some paperwork issues we were having getting her STD going again. End to end service that is top notch!
